This Hidden Gem in Northern Italy Is Called 'Little Rome'

"A moody, atmospheric two-story bar and bistro set in a former convent that specializes in craft cocktails—such as Negronis aged in terracotta amphoras—and features an upstairs room lined with floor-to-ceiling shelves of bottles for a dramatic, intimate vibe." - Laura Itzkowitz Laura Itzkowitz Laura Itzkowitz is a writer and editor based in Rome. We had a great experience a little over a year ago and were very excited to come back and revisit this great place. Back then the service staff was very knowledgeable about different spirits and could give great recommendations. The menu was much longer and had many interesting rare drinks to offer. This year it was completely different. Many (luckily not all) who work there don’t take interest in alcohol anymore and don’t know what they are selling. So one has to hope to catch the right people at work to have a good experience. The menu got very short and basic. The cocktails taste good but they are small and expensive. It used to be exceptional but now it’s just fancy and overrated.

Romeo is a hidden gem in the heart of the city. Tucked away from the crowds, it feels like you’ve stumbled upon a little secret spot with so much history in the buildings around it. The service is excellent—friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. The cocktails are top notch (their Aperol Spritz is perfect), and the overall atmosphere makes it easy to relax and enjoy yourself. A beautiful place with character, great drinks, and a location that feels both lively and intimate. Highly recommended!

We stopped there for a little aperitivo break during the day — and what a treat! The design of the place instantly reminded us of the White Lotus opening credits — elegant, artistic, and with a touch of drama. The cocktails were delicious, the small bites were exquisite, and the prices? Super reasonable. What more could you ask for? Perfect spot to unwind a bit in Verona after a long day of exploring. Highly recommend!

The most charming and romantic place we have seen during our stay. Location is very peaceful, yet vivid, surrounded by beautiful architecture. We had some wine and tiramisu. During the trip we visited Milano, Venezia and Verona, and this place, without doubt, had the most delicious tiramisu we have tasted.

Fantastic staff, wonderful cocktails, olive chip Apertivo with the ability to buy additional tapas at about 3 euros each. They also have a lovely menu. The ambiance is fantastic and we were recommended by a bartender who's from here and this is her favorite place.

One of the nicest bars we visited in Verona, tucked down between two main streets. Staff were really friendly, the cocktails were fantastic and very reasonably priced. Ask staff for suggestions as they are more than happy to help. Highly recommend for drinks, didn't eat here so cannot comment.
