A must see small park with a lot to see with a playground, tree covered picnic spots with tables and benches, with a locally popular natural area along the North Branch of the Chicago River. Check out the park sculpture installations by local artists throughout the park. It’s also a well known bird sanctuary amongst birders because of its mature canopy. Bring binoculars and a bird sound ID app because it’s hard to see through the thick canopy. A local beaver also dwells around here and you can see some of their handiwork on some of the cottonwood trees. Bike or walk on the paved path on either side of the river just outside the natural area, or hike through the natural path on the west side of the river to get a close up view of nature in action. Especially popular around spring and fall migration. The natural area is not for dog walking, biking or jogging (park natural area rules) just nature watching as those activities scare the wildlife. Take a break from city life!
