RongCheng Chinese Restaurant

Extremely disgusting and unacceptable experience. This restaurant presents itself as a fine dining place, but what we experienced was shocking. When we poured the vinegar provided on the table into a small plate to dip our dumplings, we found that the vinegar was full of countless tiny insects. It was absolutely revolting. Unfortunately, we only noticed after we had already dipped and eaten some dumplings with it. The manager’s response made the situation even worse. Instead of treating this as a serious hygiene issue or showing concern for our health, he simply asked if he could offer us a few dim sum dishes to make up for it. We had already consumed food with contaminated vinegar, yet there was no concern about potential health risks, and no responsible handling of the situation. For a place claiming to be “fine dining,” this level of hygiene and service is completely unacceptable. This experience seriously makes us question the restaurant’s overall food safety standards.

Excellent service, very nice decor, incredible and great value food. We had 2 dimsum, mix meat dumpling & honey bbq pork bun, both fantastic. For mains we got the spicy sea bass and chonqing chicken, fish had truly delicious sauce, and chicken was lovely and fragrant from sichuan chillies. Whole meal was only 57, so full could barely walk out the door. Service was very friendly.

Been there many times since it opens! As a Chinese I can say this restaurant serves authentic Chinese foods especially the seafood dishes and dim sum. They are the best I have tried in Dublin. Didn’t like the bills sitting at the table from the beginning either- it is a very Cantonese thing to do, but haven’t seen it overseas for many years. Waiters are a bit slow. Anyway, good to have a Chinese restaurant nearby. Highly recommend it!

I came to Dublin from France for a conference, and this restaurant is right next to my hotel. I’ve gone two days in a row. On the first day I ordered Cantonese congee, xiaolongbao, and steamed spare ribs. On the second day I had Mao Xue Wang and took half a roast duck to go. Both the Sichuan and Cantonese dishes were excellent. The roast duck was especially good: crispy skin, tender meat, and beautifully handled so it was aromatic with no gaminess. The staff at Rongcheng are very nice. the waitress who served me was particularly kind. It’s a pity I’m only here for a three day conference; I hope I can come back next time.

The food was good but the service and atmosphere needs improving. The music would come and go throughout the night which was weird. The servers English wasn’t great which is ok but I found it awkward thar every time I ordered something new she brought over a new printed bill. It made it feel more like a fast casual restaurant than a formal setting. We did really enjoy the savoury food but sadly the dessert was a massive let down. Tasted very artificial and store bought. Would return for the mains, definitely would not have dessert again …I really hope since it’s a new restaurant that management are reading reviews and taking them on board

Got the beef soup and frankly the flavor reminded me of the Nissan beef instant noodle pack, and the actual noodles were of the same type of instant noodles too. Friend got the other soup one and same sort of thing (instant noodle style noodles, but with meat and toppings of course). Atmosphere is nice though and there were a fair amount of Chinese in there so I assume some of the other dishes must be pretty authentic/tasty. Prices are pretty decent as well (typically around 10-15e, menu included in the pics) so maybe the one I got just wasn't the best dish. The rice dishes I saw did look nice. To note they also have a separate sweet/savoury dessert and snack menu that I didn't get a good look at. I think you have to request it.

First and last dining here - staff was kind, food was okay-ish. There should be no way this chicken and rice plate took 25 minutes to make (which is precious time for people on their lunch breaks)

Really bad experience. We went in on match day for a bite before the game. We were seated for over ten minutes before we received a menu. When we ordered our food we asked for starters and mains to arrive at the same time. Starters arrived without cutlery and mains never arrived. We left after waiting for our mains for over an hour. The food we did eat was okay. Most of the customers in the restaurant received the same service while we were there.
