Rønne Vandrerhjem

A vandrarhem in Scandinavia offers a limited level of comfort. This in mind I slept well on a comfortable new mattress and experienced friendly service in a quiet location close to the beach and in walking distance to the city and the harbour.

I planned an Easter trip to Bornholm, which is before the tourist season kicks off at the start of May and I was therefore limited in my choice of affordable accommodation. Luckily, Danhostel Rønne turned out to be a dream come true.||||The location is fantastic, as you simply walk along the water from the ferry. (I recommend printing out directions beforehand, as the last few paths can be a bit hard to find, and there's no guarantee you'll have cellphone service on Bornholm!) The hostel is on the site of an old military fort and actually has quite a fascinating history during WW2. The area is quiet and surrounded by trees and nature; it's sheltered from the wind and sounds on the docks and you can feel like you're in the wilderness even without having left the city. There are lots of outdoor activities to do at the hostel, with minigolf, a playground, and plenty of picnic tables, so I imagine it's full of life in the summertime. There is a SuperBrugsen open daily (even holidays) about a 15-minute walk from the hostel so you can buy food; the hostel also serves local beer.||||The hostel itself has everything you need, including laundry machines, a kitchen, free Wi-Fi, a dining room/chill out room with board games and books and a TV, and clean showers and bathrooms. You can buy breakfast as well for 60 DKK, though since the hostel was nearly empty during my stay and all of us cooked for ourselves, it wasn't served so I'm not sure what it included. The rooms are small and cozy and the beds are comfortable (you have to pay for sheets so try and bring your own if you want to save money). Since I was there before the busy season, I had a room to myself.||||The staff were incredibly friendly and made the whole place feel like home, leaving us notes every day, showing us all the amenities, and just generally being very welcoming.||||I only stayed for one night because I didn't know of enough things to do in Bornholm, but I wish I had stayed longer. The atmosphere was so lovely and I was reluctant to leave after just a short stay. Highly recommended!

Really nice. Fun mini golf. You can hire bikes. Close to nice trails and beaches. A stroll from town. Simple and comfortable facilities, relaxed atmosphere.

We were on a school trip. It was ok. It is cozy and a quiet place. Bad side is that there was almost 0 choices for food. There was only 1 option and only vegie version or halal version. Many students starved because they didnt like the only 1 option there was. For breakfast it was cornflakes or yogurt as well as 1 piece of bread. It stayed the same for 4 days and many got bored of it. Its ok overall but not in terms of food.

Danhostel was a nice 15-20 minute walk along the water from the ferry and town centre, very clean and quiet. Rooms aren't huge but big enough. Kitchen is well stocked with cutlery, crockery etc. There were lots of families when I was there, and it's a pretty big hostel, not easy to meet new people but a nice place to stay for a couple of nights to explore Bornholm.

I LOVED this hostel. Cute, cozy, with clean rooms, wonderful and helpful staff, great garden and fully equipped, functional kitchen, as well as a bike rental point. You can eat your meals on a terrace, you can have a barbecue, you can buy a local Svanneke beer. It's also fairly close to the beach. I'd love to come back some day!

Good: the people running it are real nice, it's clean, commen area is cozy with lots of place for everyone, close to beach, not to far to town center, free wifi, Great beds, Clean kitchen, ||||||Not so good: didn't manage to get any real hot water out of the showers .. only one hand towel for an entire hall of 2 x6 persons rooms 3x4 persons room :-/ they charge for mini. golf .. small rooms, we were two in a 4 pers dorm and it was a bit crowded..

Stayed here for one night on a very short trip to Bornholm. Within a few minutes walk from the sea and centre of Roenne. A nice garden outside! Very friendly service and the room and common areas very clean and tidy. Guest kitchen was well equipped! Would stay here again next time I am on this Island...
