Rooftop Bar

This rooftop bar at Curtin House is such an amazing place. It has quite an industrial look and in the evening it gets very busy with especially students. Nevertheless it is a great place to come as a tourist. The prices are reasonable and they have a very big menu.

My mate wanted to try a rooftop bar and thus decided to explore this place. Since it was just before the holidays, the place was packed. It felt very congested and warm. I did not try their food thus, will not comment on it. The staff were nice but quite busy, as you can imagine. On an average day, this place will be a great spot to hang out. I just tried their highball drinks and Ginger beer. One thing to keep in mind, though, is that you pay for the location and the view.

Such a cool little spot I found randomly while visiting Melbourne. The bar staff are super friendly, the food from the little burger spot is awesome, great atmosphere, good music, what more could you ask for? Glad I found this place!

Have loved coming here for the last 15 years. Always a nice vibe. Usually a pretty random mix of people which is kinda nice tbh. Beers are always solid. Interesting that they still allow smoking on the bleachers, but I'm all for it as a rooftop bar even now as a non-smoker. Sometimes does a moonlight cinema. Great for dates. Nice to look down on HER rooftop bar if you peek beside the bar 😂

A fun and relaxing place for both drinks and food. Good for friends.

Hi, I’m the person who got soaked in the drink that guy threw at me yesterday. We were clearly having a good time here, enjoying a bottle of sangria we had ordered. But suddenly, this gurl came from behind, stole our bottle, and drank it all. When I saw that, I asked what they was doing, and they just smirked and kept mocking us the entire time. Then, they poured the drink all over me, shamelessly kept laughing, and ran away. I told them I was going to take your picture and that they’d be mocked just like he mocked us. If they couldn’t afford to be at the bar, shouldn’t have come. Did he target us because we’re Asian and thought we’d be easy to mess with? I was absolutely shocked, but thankfully, people around us asked if I was okay and said they couldn’t understand what had just happened. They all agreed that it was clearly wrong. So we called Grace, the manager. She witnessed the guy’s behavior but just said, “they wants to go home,” and let them leave without doing anything. We weren’t asking for another drink or any kind of compensation. We just wanted an apology. But instead, the manager grabbed my friend’s wrist and pulled her aside to talk. When we told her that all we wanted was an apology, she simply let the guy leave right in front of us. This bar used to be one of my favorites, but this experience was shocking and incredibly disappointing. When I later asked for the manager’s name, she finally tried to be helpful, but it was already too late. It was such an unpleasant night. Since coming to Melbourne, we’ve never experienced racism before, but this was so disappointing. Even if you can’t control every customer, the least you could’ve done is handle the situation with basic decency and an apology. You need to take responsibility and ensure that incidents like this are never ignored again. I’m never coming back here.

Hello, I’m from Korea. Last night, we were having a wonderful time at this amazing bar, enjoying a bottle of sangria we had ordered. However, a man dressed as a woman suddenly stole our bottle, drank it all, and when we asked him what he was doing, he smirked at us in a mocking way. Then, he went so far as to pour the drink on my friend, displaying incredibly disgusting behavior. We decided to stay calm and handle the situation wisely, so I called over the manager, Grace. But even after witnessing the person’s actions, she simply said the individual "wanted to go home" and let them leave without taking any action. We weren’t asking for another drink or compensation—we just wanted an apology. Instead, she grabbed my wrist, pulled me aside, and asked what we wanted. When we told her we simply wanted an apology, she said the person had already left. Clearly, Grace had let them leave. It was a shocking and disappointing experience. When I later asked for the manager’s name, she finally tried to be helpful, but by that point, the damage was already done. It was an incredibly unpleasant night. Since coming to Melbourne, we’ve never experienced racism before, and we’ve always thought Australia is a beautiful and welcoming country. But last night was truly disheartening. If Grace really is the manager, I hope she ensures that incidents like this are never overlooked again in the future. Please take these situations seriously and respond with proper judgment and care moving forward.

Exciting environment, decent stock of beer. Hard to find from the street. I had to look at the building number and walk in hoping it was the right place. Great view of the city. Off to the corner smoking area. They also have a burger shack hiding out in the corner. They were apparently closing the burger shack up when I went, so all I could get was poutine fries. Those were served in a plastic basket with a piece of paper lining it. They leaked on my pants :-(

I have been to this place more times than I can count, but then again there is a pretty good reason for that - it happens to be on top of a reasonably tall building and has some magnificent views of the city. Actually, this place really does feel like one of those great rooftop bars, with views across the CBD, and all of the buildings towering around you. However, expect this place to get pretty crowded at times. Yet, the staff are pretty cool, and they do have a great selection of beers.

A great place to hang out with friends after a long day! I came here with a friend on a Wednesday, and this place was PACKED! There is some seating near the bar, and a lot more seating near the cinema portion of the venue. There were heating lamps near the bar area, but in the other portion, there's not much in terms of heating (especially on cold dreary nights). I tried my friend's grapefruit spritzer, which was good, and the grapefruit flavor was pretty strong. There's also a small shack near the cinema portion to buy food. Overall, this is a great hang out place to talk to and catch up with friends, as well as hopefully catch a movie or two on warmer nights!

Awesome place! Lovely bartenders and amazing drinks and food! I definitely recommend this bar!
