Rooftop Terrace Hippocampus

BLUF: perfect place to escape from the busy streets below for an afternoon coffee, snack, or lunch with great views. Service is wonderful but at a leisurely pace. We were looking for an emotional and sensory escape from the busy and loud streets below and were so lucky to stumble upon this rooftop! Not only were the views amazing, you are entirely shielded from the noises from the streets below. There were only an other customers when we went; it felt almost like a private patio. The service was kind and warm, although it was a more leisurely pace. They won’t check on you often, but that was our preference as we needed some time to ourselves. The food was very fresh. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for a quiet reprieve during their visit!

I really liked this place. The view is nice, looking out over the mountains rather than the hustle and bustle of the Old Town. Anyway, it's a quieter option on the fourth floor of an old building in the Old Town. There are good food and beer options. We ordered a Montenegro sandwich and chicken fingers, and everything was very good. The service was exceptional. I recommend it.

I was alone and was very nicely welcomed at the evening. The woman were super gentle, I wanted to sit in the bar looking at the wall/mountain, and not in a regular table. she prepared all for me. I ate a super good calamaris with potatoes and vegetables. Nice music. Amazing view… plus I saw a huge falling star, what a gift!! I only have amazing memories of this moment. Thank you!

Fantastic experience! My friends and I were fortunate to spend our last night on Hippocampus Rooftop Terrace! The whole experience was amazing from start to finish. Excellent service, friendly staff, outstanding food and drink selections and a gorgeous view! This is truly fine dining at its best. We were treated to a free drink at the end of dinner to toast to the end of an unforgettable experience in Montenegro! We cannot recommend this restaurant enough! The atmosphere is elegant, yet comfortable. We hope to come back! The service is top-notch! The staff is friendly, attentive, and goes above and beyond to ensure a memorable dining experience. Kudos to the entire team

Very nice place to get away from the bustle of the plazas. Quiet and calming and food was delicious. Service was very unobtrusive. We had a phenomenal cheese and meat plate, mushroom risotto and grilled sea bass, followed by cheesecake. Great place for more refined dining. (Also, silent movies projected on the wall!)

We had a brilliant experience here. We got the best customer’s service in town from our waiter Dino. He was so helpful and took good care of us. Food was delicious and the atmosphere was romantic. It was a perfect night!

AVOID! We can hear on our first night and had a nice dinner. Service was great, food took a bit of time, portions were small. We returned the second night because we wanted to see the sunset. When we arrived our table wasn’t set. We had to wait for it to be set. We then were seated. Next to my seat were chords and a dirty old projector sitting out. Blocking my view of the sunset. We weren’t asked if we wanted water. We thought we’d see how long it took. We weren’t asked at all throughout our whole meal. We weren’t asked if wanted bread. My partner ordered a glass of wine and was delivered hot wine. We ordered the calamari to start, which is nice. Then the octopus and the steak. We were told the wrong piece of cut steak. We also asked for it to be medium-rare and it came out well-done. The meal was so disgusting that my partner couldn’t eat it. We ended up complaining to the hotel manager who honestly did not seem to care. My octopus was 29 euro and I had two slices. THIS IS THE MOST OVER RATED RESTAURANT IN KOTOR.

We came to the rooftop to relax from the heat and tiredness of sightseeing. We were actually in the mood for spontaneous wine tasting. The rooftop restaurant/bar did not offer wine tasting so we creatively did our own by ordering different wines in small bottles. 😍 (+) +lovely views of Old Town +we had the entire rooftop to ourselves +waitress was very attentive and helpful +very centrally located 😩 {~} -None
