The Room Mate Carla is well located for a safe and quiet stay in Barcelona. It’s close to Gaudí’s masterpieces like Casa Milà and Casa Batlló, and right next to top-rated stores such as Louis Vuitton and Dior. Two nearby metro stations make visiting other areas of Barcelona a breeze. The neighborhood is also filled with great dining options at every price level.||The room we were assigned, however, had its faults. On the first night, the air conditioner began producing condensation, which caused a constant drip in front of the entrance door. The noise kept us up all night, even after we turned the AC off. When we requested a room change, the manager claimed none were available and instead provided a dusty fan, which we didn’t use. Thankfully, the issue was resolved the following morning, and the hotel offered us a free breakfast for the inconvenience. The view to the Sagrada Familia from our room balcony was the highlight of the stay.||One of the sides of the mattress was bent, making it feel like I was sleeping on a sofa or an adjustable bed. We also didn’t like the bathroom door, as it offered no privacy and did little to block sound or odor. The cleanliness was adequate but not outstanding; for example, a fresh mold stain on the bathtub glass suggested that no supervisor had inspected the room before our arrival.||Overall, we felt safe and privileged during our stay, even though our first-night impressions were not great. We chose Room Mate because of positive past experiences with boutique hotels, where the ambience, perks and staff usually go the extra mile to make us feel special. That wasn’t the case at the beginning of our stay, but eventually, our intuition was rewarded.

Nice hotel in the centre of Barcelona. Friendly staff, comfortable rooms and an acceptable breakfast. It has a gym, but it’s very small and so we went to a gym nearby with a day pass. For the breakfast - the scrambled eggs are clearly the type which are either pre-prepared or made out of powder, which gives them a bitter aftertaste - only real complaint.

We spent 7 nights in RM Carla and loved every bit of it. The location is perfect, close to everything, but far enough from all the noise. Safe neighbourhood in a one way street with very little traffic during the night. We stayed on the fifth floor and had a balcony with direct view of Sagrada famillia. The room is big, modern, clean, plenty of storage space. Cleaning is done every day. Breakfast is excellent, with a good variety of everything and it was on promotion during our stay (12.50 per person) which is less than what you pay at nearby breakfast places (Billy Brunch for example). We didn't interact a lot with the staff, only to check in and out, but they seemed polite and professional. RM Carla will definitely be our first choice for our next Barcelona visit.

It was a great experience staying at this hotel. It is centrally located, so once you go downstairs, you are right in the mix of everything - cafes, restaurants, shops, etc. The hotel room itself is very clean and comfortable -- no complaints there. The breakfast in the morning for 17 euros was worth it, even though it was a bit pricy. We did not pay for breakfast included in the hotel, but we may as well have, i think it would have been cheaper that way, because i ended up paying for breakfast every morning because it was so good. The price for the hotel felt just slightly hefty, but, to be fair, Barcelona is expensive and this was probably in line (if not better) with hotel prices of this quality in Barcelona. I thought a couple things could have been designed better, like the bathroom door (not used to those in the states, so it hit my thumb when i closed it -- not a big deal, but just mentioning). Also, the toilet paper, the roll, you end up having to take it out of the holder (i don't get what the point of the holder really is). As a designer, these things bothered me, but the average person probably wouldn't even bat an eye. Despite these little details, I highly recommend this hotel. Our experience was excellent.

I honestly have no idea how this hotel is rated 4 stars. I wouldn’t even give it 2. I originally checked out of another hotel due to excessive noise and chose Room Mate Clara for its supposedly higher quality—but this turned out to be the worst decision of my trip. I specifically sent a message through Booking explaining that I had already experienced a sleepless stay and was hoping for a peaceful, restful environment. Instead, I was placed in Room 106, on the first floor, right in the middle of the building—facing a courtyard with an unpleasant view of old buildings and laundry hanging in windows. See photos Definitely not what you expect from a 4-star hotel. The worst part? The noise level. The room had absolutely no soundproofing. I could hear everything—footsteps, conversations, even showers running in the next room. It was impossible to sleep. I ended up leaving my belongings in the hotel just so I could sleep at a friend’s hotel nearby for a few hours of peace each day. There was no one to help with luggage, which is not acceptable for a hotel claiming to be 4 stars. To make things worse, the room phone didn’t work, so every time I needed assistance, I had to physically go down to reception. When I asked to change rooms, the front desk staff—specifically a blonde woman named Amanda—was completely unhelpful. At first, she told me there was no availability. Then she said I could move to a smaller room with no balcony or view, but I wouldn’t be refunded the difference. Her attitude made it feel like they were doing me a favor, rather than addressing a serious customer issue. The hotel also has no real facilities. The “lobby” is just a hallway with three chairs, and the atmosphere is more like a low-budget guesthouse than a 4-star property. Also, the location is not as central as advertised—it’s about a 29-minute walk to La Rambla, which made sightseeing more exhausting. Overall, my stay was a complete nightmare and made my trip to Barcelona extremely uncomfortable. I would absolutely not recommend Room Mate Clara to anyone looking for rest, comfort, or decent customer service.

Location was fantastic. Room's were clean and tidy. First room was awesome, until the ceiling leaked in the middle of the night and we got an 'upgrade' to an executive room that had far less space and poor design. Staff were somewhat helpful, but as tourists we didn't feel that welcome. The overnight staff member was great at sorting out the leak, however the morning staff were either unaware or didn't care as there was no follow up apology etc. Just a half smile as we walked out the door.

Excellent stay at this hotel during my recent trip to Barcelona. Located close to all the shops and cute eats, many gelato places nearby and convenience stores including pharmacies and supermarkets. The hotel has a very modern look and utilizes very dark tones. Although I prefer lighter colours and brighter areas, their rooms, amenities and services are excellent. For visitors - it was quite hard to call taxis and flag down cars, however the hotel front desk helped us call and book taxis in advance! Thanks for the great hospitality!

This is absolutely not a 4 star hotel. 2 star hotel overpriced for what it offers. The walls are thin; we could hear everything our neighbors were doing. Interior of the room was okay at best. TV wouldn’t turn on easily, no usb ports in the room. The bar/restaurant is self-service only. Courtyard is shared, not much privacy. Positives: Bed was comfortable and good shower pressure.
