The Room Mate Carla is well located for a safe and quiet stay in Barcelona. It’s close to Gaudí’s masterpieces like Casa Milà and Casa Batlló, and right next to top-rated stores such as Louis Vuitton and Dior. Two nearby metro stations make visiting other areas of Barcelona a breeze. The neighborhood is also filled with great dining options at every price level.||The room we were assigned, however, had its faults. On the first night, the air conditioner began producing condensation, which caused a constant drip in front of the entrance door. The noise kept us up all night, even after we turned the AC off. When we requested a room change, the manager claimed none were available and instead provided a dusty fan, which we didn’t use. Thankfully, the issue was resolved the following morning, and the hotel offered us a free breakfast for the inconvenience. The view to the Sagrada Familia from our room balcony was the highlight of the stay.||One of the sides of the mattress was bent, making it feel like I was sleeping on a sofa or an adjustable bed. We also didn’t like the bathroom door, as it offered no privacy and did little to block sound or odor. The cleanliness was adequate but not outstanding; for example, a fresh mold stain on the bathtub glass suggested that no supervisor had inspected the room before our arrival.||Overall, we felt safe and privileged during our stay, even though our first-night impressions were not great. We chose Room Mate because of positive past experiences with boutique hotels, where the ambience, perks and staff usually go the extra mile to make us feel special. That wasn’t the case at the beginning of our stay, but eventually, our intuition was rewarded.

Booked this place for a long weekend away with my fiancée. Beautiful building, very clean, including the reception area and the rooms. The staff at reception were fanatic, very helpful, gave good suggestions and the drink on arrival was a nice touch. Location is the best thing about this place, with most of Barcelona walkable (we didn’t use the metro once and only used a taxi to the airport - although we did a lot of steps!) I didn’t like the fact there was no bar in the hotel (unless you count an honesty bar without staff and no atmosphere). Also we booked the premium room and was really surprised to get a room with two single beds put together with two duvets - and was offered to change on our second day but who wants to move rooms half way through a holiday? Don’t expect to ever pay for an updated room and have single beds - seems an odd thing to do…. But overall we did have a nice stay and would maybe book again, but mainly due to the location!

Google
Great location and very accommodating. We got damp sheet covers back on our bed one afternoon but other than that the hotel was wonderful. Breakfast is not included but not more than a block away in any direction you'll find great food. The separation of the beds was a struggle but anyone willing to make it work can!!

Nice hotel in the centre of Barcelona. Friendly staff, comfortable rooms and an acceptable breakfast. It has a gym, but it’s very small and so we went to a gym nearby with a day pass. For the breakfast - the scrambled eggs are clearly the type which are either pre-prepared or made out of powder, which gives them a bitter aftertaste - only real complaint.

We spent 7 nights in RM Carla and loved every bit of it. The location is perfect, close to everything, but far enough from all the noise. Safe neighbourhood in a one way street with very little traffic during the night. We stayed on the fifth floor and had a balcony with direct view of Sagrada famillia. The room is big, modern, clean, plenty of storage space. Cleaning is done every day. Breakfast is excellent, with a good variety of everything and it was on promotion during our stay (12.50 per person) which is less than what you pay at nearby breakfast places (Billy Brunch for example). We didn't interact a lot with the staff, only to check in and out, but they seemed polite and professional. RM Carla will definitely be our first choice for our next Barcelona visit.

It was a great experience staying at this hotel. It is centrally located, so once you go downstairs, you are right in the mix of everything - cafes, restaurants, shops, etc. The hotel room itself is very clean and comfortable -- no complaints there. The breakfast in the morning for 17 euros was worth it, even though it was a bit pricy. We did not pay for breakfast included in the hotel, but we may as well have, i think it would have been cheaper that way, because i ended up paying for breakfast every morning because it was so good. The price for the hotel felt just slightly hefty, but, to be fair, Barcelona is expensive and this was probably in line (if not better) with hotel prices of this quality in Barcelona. I thought a couple things could have been designed better, like the bathroom door (not used to those in the states, so it hit my thumb when i closed it -- not a big deal, but just mentioning). Also, the toilet paper, the roll, you end up having to take it out of the holder (i don't get what the point of the holder really is). As a designer, these things bothered me, but the average person probably wouldn't even bat an eye. Despite these little details, I highly recommend this hotel. Our experience was excellent.

Google
picked the hotel primarily for proximity to Sagrada Familia, Batlló and Milà, but the room was also fantastic and the service excellent, 5 stars for sure, very professional, clean and attentive staff, we got the junior suite which has a lovely balcony and views to street life below. I'm a light sleeper so it helped to have dual glazed windows blocking 90% of the noise although it's not a noisy street

Absolutely loved this hotel. Very clean and staff was amazing. Breakfast was delicious 😋. Only Great location. Alot of shops and delicious restaurants near by. 4 minute walk to the metro. Highly recommend it

Yelp
This place was wonderful! Our room was fantastic! Quite large and had a Juliet balcony that opened to the courtyard which was quaint and so quiet we could hear the birds, and people out on their balconies. The shower was HUGE (and across the entryway and separate from the toilet and sink). There was a mini fridge in the room, and lots of storage. Also blackout curtains which came in handy since the sun didn't set until after 10pm while we were there. The only room complaint I had was the door to the room with the toilet wouldn't stay closed. They had a huge breakfast each morning with a variety of food. And an honor bar at night. The staff was very welcoming and accommodating.

Yelp
I was so excited to stay here given how much I enjoyed staying at their other location in Madrid. However, although it was still better than most hotels, there were a few things I didn't like. I'll start off with the pros: - friendly staff that go above and beyond the call of duty to ensure a pleasant stay - Location of hotel is amazing within walking distance of the city center and many points of interest - I can see Sagrada Familia from my balcony - The rooms are clean - Thermometer located in room to allow you to control temperature - Beds are relatively comfortable - Plugs located next to the bed to allow you to charge phone - Water pressure is great - Shower is large and comes with shampoo, conditioner and body wash - WiFi is strong and steady - The double beds are close together but there is plenty of room to separate them (see pic where I moved one of the beds against the wall) - Rooms equipped with mini fridge and coffee machine/hot water kettle - Room was a decent size with lots of closet and storage space - breakfast is good with a lot of options - exterior and interior of hotel is gorgeous Cons: - no usb ports so you need to bring an adapter - The twin beds tend to slide and move on the floor - The bathroom door providers little to no privacy. You can literally hear everything as there is a big gap in the door and no lock. All in all, the pros outweigh the cons. The amazing customer service and friendly staff made my stay well worth it. The location was also amazing. I would definitely stay here again but, if sharing a room, make sure you are intimately comfortable with the person you're with given the lack of bathroom privacy. Also, they overcharged both myself and my friends at checkout. Make sure to check and double check all fees and get a receipt.

Yelp
Stylish sleek hotel with great breakfast buffet options. Location is far enough from the crazy tourist crowds while also being close to excellent bars and restaurants.

Yelp
We LOVED our stay at the room mate Carla hotel. We loved it so much I bought their room spray so I would never forget how amazing the lobby smelled! Their basic room is really small but their next size up is perfect. The staff was really helpful and professional. Breakfast is excellent for just 10 euros and a great way to get your day started. Overall, a pleasure to stay here and would recommend it to anyone. And a quick walk to some of the main sites like la pedrera and the sagrada familia, as well as some great shopping.

Yelp
This is one of the worst hotel stays we've had on either side of the Atlantic. The rates are not the cheapest in the city but the rooms are tiny and bare bones. There are no drawers; no place to put your suitcase; no place to hang your towels so they don't dry; no washclothes and no soap dish. The maid service is poor. We came back at 4pm tired and sweaty and the maid was just starting to clean the room. The next day our bottled water was gone and there was no replacement. The next day we came back in the middle of the day again tired and sweaty and the front door was locked. We rang the bell but nothing happened so I tried to push the door open (it was an automatic door). The desk clerk just yelled at us. We will never stay in a Room Mate hotel again.

Yelp
A strikingly beautiful hotel with two drastically different parts. One building is classic gothic style while the other one is very sleek, with a modern boutique style. We stayed in the new age part although I loved them both equally! This side is perfect especially for the young. It has futuristic details such as the sink being controlled by the room key. Cool. It's located within walking distance to everything you could possibly need! Tapas bars (of course), the stop for the double decker bus tours which take you to any and every museum you wish as well as the marina. Indulge in fantastic upscale shopping, nightclubs, Gaudi's Casa Mila is right across the way and seen from the roof. Casa Bastllo isn't far away either. La Rambla is walkable, even flamenco dinner and dancing shows are nearby!! Breakfast is included and I remember the croissants being the best I've EVER had, even better than ones in France which makes no sense, I know. The rooftop bar is superb! The views are amazing! Order a bottle of Cava and you're set for a fantastic romantic night or pre-dinner drinks! I remember walking out and our wedding song was playing! It was perfect! I would absolutely stay here again! Prices were fair. Staff was helpful!

Yelp
We stayed for a week, and it was absolutely wonderful. The staff was incredibly helpful and attentive. We arrived and we're too exhausted from 24 hours of travel to really do anything, but the front desk person Maria made really great suggestions that we were able to use in the next few days. There was slight problem with the room- the mini bar fridge wasn't working and the air conditioning was broken. They switched our room right away and the rest of the stay was in a beautiful room with an incredible view. One weird thing- the bathrooms in the rooms have a swinging glass door that doesn't latch or lock, and there there is no sound barrier at all. If I were staying with someone other than my husband, I would have been uncomfortable with the complete lack of privacy.

Yelp
My family and I had an excellent stay here. The Art Deco decor was lovely and the front desk staff were friendly and cheerful. The doorman was also very nice. The rooms were very clean and comfortable. I like that the toiletries are in environmentally friendly containers. It was also very nice to have a balcony. I don't think all floors have balconies though. The hotel is close to the 2 Gaudi homes, other attractions and shopping. The neighborhood felt very safe. I would stay here again if in Barcelona.

Yelp
We enjoyed our stay at Room Mate in Barcelona. The front desk was courteous and friendly. They went out of their way to help us access into internet and log into the Sagrada Familia web site which is needed to hear the tour. The front desk was very efficient. The room was clean and nicely decorated. Friendly and attentive staff. We enjoyed our stay here in spite of the intense heat of June. We were surprised of the huge breakfast variety that was included with our stay here. Coffee was great too. Thanks to them we enjoyed our day in Barcelona. Great location too.

Yelp
I stayed here for 3 nights a couple weeks ago and was happy with my stay. The rooms were clean and minimal but very very small. I guess I am used to larger American hotel rooms but our room was super tight for 2 people. We only had two carry-ons and a backpack and barely had room for them. The staff could not have been any nicer! All the staff we came across spoke English and were very helpful with our tourist questions. It's about a ten-minute walk to the metro station and from the main shopping street in Barcelona (Paseo De Gracia). The area felt very safe and I would stay here again but next time would pay more for a bigger room!

Yelp
Would give this place 10 stars if I could. When you walk in you get this awesome aroma in the air. So fresh and clean. Would buy that for my home if I knew what they used. The rooms are spacious and very well laid out. If you stay here make sure to get the breakfast included. Well worth the 9 euros. Cristina was very helpful with all my questions thumbs up for her. Don't miss out on staying here. Well located and near almost everything. La sagrada familia is a 15 min walk and the gothic quarter is about a 15 min walk as well. Well centered hotel. Im staying here again when I come back. Thx for the great stay. Sorry for late review. 8 months later....

Yelp
Amazing hotel. Lovely staff, we got room with balcony view, which made it all the more lighted. Beds were extremely comfortable, staff went out of their way to be helpful, providing extra items as requested. There was always water at the reception and staff were happy to fill bottles. We didn't opt for the breakfast but we went with the room upgrade which was worth it. Never did staff show any impatience with requests and everything was handled just perfectly. The room was super clean and so comfortable!! Highly recommend! Beautiful spot!!!

Yelp
Very clean hotel with modern decor. I loved the separate bathroom and shower rooms. That's right, the shower room! The bed was very from which doesn't work for me but others in our party enjoyed it. Cable TV had a few channels that had an English audio track. Very close to high-end shopping and plenty of espresso nearby. Great place to stay in Barcelona!

Yelp
The room is lovely, spacious and always kept clean. The location is exceptional - 3 blocks from the spectacular shopping on the Passeig de Gracia; 10 minutes to Bar Mot, Ciutat Comtal and other superb restaurants, as well as the Metro; 20 minute walk to the Sagrada Familia; 30 to the Picasso Museu. Full breakfast buffet from 7-12n. But the staff may be the best part: friendly, helpful, knowledgeable, and all had good English. Carla Room Mate offers a great experience at a more-than-reasonable price.

Yelp
I stayed here for 3 nights last week before heading to Brussels. I enjoyed my stay so much, I cancelled my reservation at another hotel & stayed again after my return for another 2 nights. Federico is not only hot as hell, but very helpful, polite & funny. Cristina & Ivan are also very nice & helpful. But, the rockstars are bartender, Yanina, & Maria at the front desk. Yanina is a big ball of positive energy & it rubs off on you. She's so fun, I can't wait for her to return to California! And, Maria... My travel companions turned out to be flakes, so I was solo for my last days in BCN. She recommended nearby Terra Ca la Nuri restaurant where I had THE BEST paella & Catalonia crema ever. The walk was short & safe, so I appreciated her recommendation. When I returned, I thanked her & she then recommended another place, (Restaurant Teleferic) to try on my last night. Again, a 5-star experience. The tapas & white sangria were amazing. Those were two of the best meals that I've had in Spain & I have Maria to thank. Now, about the rooms... They're spacious enough, but a little tight for 3 people. The swinging bathroom door that doesn't lock is weird, & the AC in room #506 wasn't working properly, but neither were a deal breaker for me. I like that there's a door man, but the younger one w/ long hair is never there & that damn door is heavy lol. It's location is great bc it's a few blocks from both La Sagrada Familia & Passeig de Gràcia, so you're able to walk to most places. You really just can't go wrong w/ Room Mate Carla.

Vicki G.

Yelp
We loved this hotel. It's in a great place and walking distance from a lot of famous attractions. It's a 20 minute walk from the Sagrada Familia and a 10 minute walk from Casa Batllo. The staff is extremely friendly. And for the location the hotel is very reasonable. We enjoyed our stay here.

Yelp
OK. Let me start at the beginning. I arrived there really early, because after MWC I relocated from another hotel, and fully expected to be put on hold, since I was there at like 8 am. Instead, I was told that I had a standard room, but they did not have one available right now. So, unfortunately, I was upgraded to a room with a balcony. Which was available immediately. I was stunned, seriously... So I went up to the 3rd floor, entered that room, and, as expected, it was really nice. Nice bed, full mini-bar, a water boiler, tea... Phantastic. Then I opened the door to the patio. Now, I need to say that one of the main reasons for me to be in Barcelona - apart from MWC - was to see La Sagrada Familia. I am not a church freak, but an architecture buff, so that was one of the big things I wanted to do. So I walked onto the spacious patio with a table and chairs, looked down the street... and could see the basilica. For me, that was one of the best moments ever (and yes I am aware of the fact that sounds weird). Just the tips, mind you, but still. It was there. So that pretty much did it for me... The other things are kinda less important :) The next morning, I went to have breakfast at like 9:30-ish, and when I came back an hour later, the room was done. Cleaned, beds made, everything.... That is actually something I have NEVER experienced before. So, bottom line: This is a very nice place, in a very nice house, in a very nice location, extremely friendly people (Maria sent me to a Tapas place which was awesome!!!)... No need to mention the very good breakfast, fast service and everything else.... If you can, go here. It's absolutely worth it.

Steph G.

Yelp
Loved this hotel. Very metro and chic. Rooms were just lovely. Great service. Great location. Very nice staff.
