Room Mate Filippo (Rome, Lazio) Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"The Madrid-based Room Mate hotel group is well known for establishments that bring contemporary and affordable boutique-hotel glamour to the great old cities of Europe — and there’s none greater than Rome. Room Mate Filippo is ten minutes’ walk from the Trevi Fountain, which means it’s close to all the sights of the historic city center; still, it finds space for a garden courtyard as well as rooms that are generous, for Rome, if not quite palatial." - Tablet Hotels

My wife and I finished up our Italy trip with a few days in Rome before heading home, and Room Mate Filippo was really a perfect place to stay for what we needed. I found it overwhelming to try and choose lodging in Rome, with all the options available, but in all my research, this hotel seemed to check all the boxes for what would suit our stay the best, and it did not disappoint. What really made a lasting impression more than anything else is the level of service we received. Every single person we interacted with at the reception desk was delightful, personable, and willing to help. The rooms are not large, but they're clean and very nice. The beds were comfortable, they provided a large bottle of water to use for personal use or for the Nespresso machine, and the bathroom was very spacious and well appointed. The hotel was quiet, we never once heard any noise from outside the hotel (including the screeching seagulls). The breakfast had a wide selection of fruit/pastries/eggs/meats/coffee/etc, and it lasts until noon! So, even if you sleep in a little, you won't have to worry about missing it.|The location is really great. It's pretty central to anything you want to do. There's a metro station just a block or two from the hotel, which we used to get to/from Roma Termini train station. We walked to most of the attractions (Spanish Steps, Pantheon, Colosseum, Basilicas), and took the metro to get to the Vatican. Lastly, there are TWO nasoni (drinking fountains) within about a block of the hotel, so it's super easy to fill up water bottles when leaving or returning to the hotel. The hotel isn't cheap by most standards, but for Rome standards, it was more affordable than a lot of other places, and you're pretty much guaranteed to have a pleasant stay, so take that for what you will.

We had a fantastic family trip staying at this hotel in Rome! The staff were outstanding—especially the reception team, who were incredibly kind and helpful. The hotel was spotless and very comfortable. It’s also wheelchair-friendly, which made a huge difference for us. The location is excellent—just steps from the metro and bus stops, and within walking distance to all the main attractions. Breakfast may be small in size, but the quality is top-notch. A truly pleasant and hassle-free stay. Highly recommended!

The staff is amazing — super friendly and lighthearted. They make you smile as you walk in and out. The rooms are very clean and nicely designed. They are a bit small, but that’s pretty standard for Rome. The bed is comfortable, and the rooms are quiet. The location is excellent, and breakfast is decent. I’ve stayed at this hotel three times, and the quality has been consistent every time. The accessible room has a bidet hose, which is great, but the shower tends to leak water outside the area.

My first hotel was cancelled on my flight to Rome and I’m thankful because I found this little gem. Hotel staff are super welcoming, the atmosphere is cozy and fun, and rooms are modern, clean, and vibrant. Great value for comfort, location and amenities.

Absolutely wonderful and perfect stay. The entire team was warm, friendly, and so welcoming. Rooms were immaculate and beautiful. Fabulous location. We also had help coordinating tours, which was an easy process and wonderful to experience. We absolutely loved it!!!

Don’t walk, RUN to Room Mate Gran Filippo! |Where to even start? ||The room: Luxurious, super clean, modern amenities, comfortable, quiet, and most importantly, safe. By far the best place we stayed in all of Italy. ||The Staff: Amazing! From the front desk to the housekeepers, to the restaurant staff. Umberto was so great as he made sure we had everything we needed. He answered any questions and welcomed us like family. ||The Location: Impressive. Centrally located to many of the tourist hot spots. We walked almost everywhere and when we needed a cab, the front desk called us one very quickly. The streets were clean, and we felt very safe walking back at night. ||Overall: I wish I booked here longer. It is very few and far inbetween you find a gem like this. It was wonderful to come back after a long day of sightseeing and truly feel comfortable. We didn’t want to leave!

We had a mostly good experience at this hotel — the service was friendly and the location is excellent. However, on the third night of our stay, we found a lot of ants in the room, especially in the bathroom and even on the bed. We couldn’t sleep the entire night — imagine trying to rest with ants crawling around your room. We spoke to the front desk around midnight, but were told the hotel was fully booked, so no room change was possible. The next morning, they arranged a different room for us in the afternoon. We were offered a bigger room in the next building, which they said was an upgrade. While it was larger, the rug was full of dirt, and since it was our last night in Rome, we didn’t want to bother changing again. When I brought up the ant issue to the manager, I was told it’s normal during ant season in Rome. However, I checked with a friend who lives in Rome, and she said this kind of problem is usually more related to cleanliness than the time of year. To add to the frustration, they made a comment about us having garbage in the room — likely because we were traveling with our baby. But the truth is, we asked the front desk every single time to collect the trash after diaper changes, and they always agreed to do so. It felt unfair to be blamed when we were doing our part to keep the space clean.

******* 7 star rating for stay, location and amazing friendly helpful staff. I would stay in hotel anytime I visit Rome. Best experience so far in Rome hotels. For European standard, this was indeed a 5 star hotel. Close to major attractions and easy access to anywhere in Rome.
