My wife and I finished up our Italy trip with a few days in Rome before heading home, and Room Mate Filippo was really a perfect place to stay for what we needed. I found it overwhelming to try and choose lodging in Rome, with all the options available, but in all my research, this hotel seemed to check all the boxes for what would suit our stay the best, and it did not disappoint. What really made a lasting impression more than anything else is the level of service we received. Every single person we interacted with at the reception desk was delightful, personable, and willing to help. The rooms are not large, but they're clean and very nice. The beds were comfortable, they provided a large bottle of water to use for personal use or for the Nespresso machine, and the bathroom was very spacious and well appointed. The hotel was quiet, we never once heard any noise from outside the hotel (including the screeching seagulls). The breakfast had a wide selection of fruit/pastries/eggs/meats/coffee/etc, and it lasts until noon! So, even if you sleep in a little, you won't have to worry about missing it.|The location is really great. It's pretty central to anything you want to do. There's a metro station just a block or two from the hotel, which we used to get to/from Roma Termini train station. We walked to most of the attractions (Spanish Steps, Pantheon, Colosseum, Basilicas), and took the metro to get to the Vatican. Lastly, there are TWO nasoni (drinking fountains) within about a block of the hotel, so it's super easy to fill up water bottles when leaving or returning to the hotel. The hotel isn't cheap by most standards, but for Rome standards, it was more affordable than a lot of other places, and you're pretty much guaranteed to have a pleasant stay, so take that for what you will.
