On the Grid : Room10

"Tucked down a laneway with only a small tile indicating you’re in the right place, once found Room10 is hard to forget. This tiny, backroom-chic café is a temple to coffee, serving the locally roasted Mecca and Dark Horse blends as their signatures. The menu is broader than you’d expect and offers simple and delicious Australian inspired food. Seating here is limited, but if you’re lucky enough, nab a table outdoors and watch the eclectic Potts Point crowd pass you by." - Squad Ink

Great breakfast choices and excellent coffee. So happy Room Ten has reopened with a fresh new menu—everything was delicious and the vibe was just right. Will definitely be coming back soon!

Table 10 is an exceptional dining experience that blends culinary excellence with impeccable service. During our visit, I enjoyed the Muesli, which was a delightful balance of flavours and textures. The oats were perfectly soaked, complemented by a generous mix of fresh fruits, nuts, and a touch of natural sweetness that made every bite refreshing yet satisfying. My partner chose the Mediterranean breakfast, a vibrant and hearty spread featuring perfectly cooked eggs, fresh vegetables, creamy labneh, and warm bread. The flavours were authentic and expertly crafted, making it a true highlight of the meal! The staff were attentive and friendly. The ambiance of the restaurant was warm and inviting, adding to the overall enjoyable experience. Table 10 stands out for its thoughtful menu, delicious food, and outstanding service—highly recommended for anyone seeking a memorable breakfast or brunch spot. Keep up the amazing work and we look forward to our next visit! With all my Mettā, Noah

This banana bread is way beyond amazing ……. I was not gonna order food because I wasn’t feeling hungry at all, however, still wanted to try some small portion of something, and it was absolutely AMAZING 💯

Usually happy with my experience at Room Ten. Unfortunately today was the first since they reopened. Ordered takeaway latte. Milk was literally poured in and it just tasted as if there was only milk. No effort was made to actually make it a latte which you'd expect for a place like this. Not their usual standards. Disappointing but could be really just one of those days where they were really looking to close for the day at 245pm.

Oak whips up a banger espresso! Ben sets the gold standard for service in Potts Point. I had a piccolo latte and the breakfast omelette wrap. It was the best breakfast wrap I’ve ever eaten! A lovely, attentive team of people!!

Excellent food! Super tea is hand-brewed by Room Ten and it’s outstanding.

Google
Excellent customer service and they have very kind staffs whenever we visit them, impressive. The food is really stuffed in a good way and healthy too. We always order their signature mushroom melt sandwich and the kale chicken Caesar salad bowl, definitely our all time favourites! Specifically, the Almond Cold Brew should win the award, this is my personal best drink in CBD area recommendation, if you have a change, go grab a bottle!!

Google
When I arrived, the line next door was too long, so I came here instead. It was unexpectedly delicious and worth coming back for. I highly recommend the beef sandwich. The sourdough was perfectly toasted and very fragrant. The beef inside was sweet and tangy, blending together very well.

Yelp
Love room 10. Delicious, innovative food. My family and I always enjoy a delicious lunch there, try the beef brisket sandwich!

Yelp
Best tuna melt I've ever had! Modest place with incredible food quality and great staff. I'm coming back for the chicken schnitzel!!!

Yelp
Fantastic food and great service. As a vegetarian, my waitress helped me design a breakfast that left me feeling great. I can highly recommend.

Yelp
Beef Brisket sandwich, Chicken Salad, and coffee! The beef was probably my fav - the picked slaw was perrrfect against that yummy rich beef. Chicken salad was also delish - especially if you like dill. The bread is perfectly toasted and probably equally responsible for a five star review. Ambience is super cool too! Neat little alley way, can make it quick or take your time and people watch.

Yelp
Amazing! Great service, great people (staff and other customers), dog friendly, and amazing food. The decor is cute, food is fresh and coffee delicious. I plan to go here the next 2 days I am in Sydney and then I'll just have to crave it from home. The avocado smash is amazing- loved the one with feta. Toasties are great. Lots of vegetarian combos and everything made fresh so they can accommodate dietary requests. Worth going to, even if it's out of your way.

Yelp
Did you ever go back to a place you haven't been in a while to find it's just not the same? Somewhere along the line, they dropped the ball or lost the passion? Four years after my first review, Room 10 is still making it rain. The only difference is that said rain is now accepted in more ways than cash. Halleluiah! Small but mighty, Room10 whips up satisfying and fresh brunches from a kitchen that shares its space with the dining room. If you're thinking this is cramped, it is. But that's part of the buzz! Sitting in at Room 10 will energize you as much as the on point coffee. The secret is the ingredients. Everything from the hard-to-find hot sauces and perfectly ripe tomatoes, these guys just know good produce. Toasties all gooey with ricotta, gruyere and jalsberg. Because three cheeses are better than one, no? I am still ordering the salad with their amazing smoked trout, boiled egg and the best soy and linseed sourdough Sydney can source.

Yelp
I was told that this is one of the best brunch spot and it delivered. We went late on a weekday and had a 10-15 min wait. And wait was well worth it. We sad inside and got a view of the madness in the kitchen, preparing delicious toasties and fast! I don't envy the chefs. We had the prosciutto toastie and open face trout sandwich. The prosciutto toastie blew me away. One of the best ever. The trout sandwich was great too but paled in comparison to the toastie. Got sides of green juice (bottled) and orange juice (glass, made in-house). The coffee drinks hit the spot too. Overall, a must try, if you are in Sydney!

Yelp
The food is a real knockout here, and the coffee is pretty damn good too. I really love the casual ambience .... it is tight and small with people on baby stools around little tables; and people look engaged and happy. This discrete laneway is an ideal location for this place. The food is wonderful...consistently so too. The salads for me are the standout. There is the Ocean Trout, the Tuna, the Chicken, Ziad (chickpea) and the Beef Brisket. I can vouch for them all....and if a sandwich is your preference then the Beef Brisket is amazing. This is a substantial sandwich...generous in volume and tasty too; and then the Gypsy Ham is delicious, so too the Salvatori which is an open sandwich with ricotta, tomato and more. You can opt for the Cheese toastie, Chicken or Tuna sandwich all of which are enjoyable. You can do brekkie here too..... Coffee is excellent...you ask and they deliver your wish! The people serving here are great. There is a pride in their food and service, and they are joy to interact with. A Potts Point favourite of mine... .

Yelp
One of my favorite spot, best breakfast with quality ingredients and good value. If you are gluten-free you should try one of their gluten-free sandwich or toast the bread is incredible.

Yelp
So good - we went for breakfast two consecutive days while in town. The Mediterranean breakfast was delicious - lots of fun components, and healthy to boot. Coffee was smooth and tasty, chai latte had the perfect spice kick, trout panini was also a hit. All around fantastic food.

Yelp
Super location for a healthy and cheap breakfast. Staff is friendly and fast. When you sit inside, you are basically sitting in the kitchen. We had a avocado sandwich and a tuna sandwich. Both super delicious. Definitely worth a visit when you are near Kings Cross In Sydney.

Yelp
One of the best breakfast spots in Potts Point. Friendly service. It is worth the wait at busy times

Yelp
Cute, cosy and intimate with amazing coffee and a thrown together ambience. If you like space this isn't the place to be but it has a great atmosphere with friendly and helpful staff. Good food which you can actually see prepared as seats are available in the kitchen.

Yelp
Room 10 is one venue responsible for charming the pants off me and ensuring that Potts Point remains firmly in my top 5 Sydney suburbs. Wander down Lankelly Place and Room 10 is a spot that if closed, you'll miss. Appropriately, there is only room for about 10 people within this cafe. I'd be confident in saying there'd be Double Bay wives who have closets bigger than this cafe. But don't let the size (or lack thereof) deter you from spending time getting acquainted with their velvety house blend or selecting a freshly made toastie or granola (made right behind you on the kitchen bench) from their health-packed menu options. I'd waited more than a year to try their Rice Breakfast. They were closed for renovations the last time I was in Sydney. This combination of quinoa, red rice, stewed rhubarb, blackberries, banana, fig, yoghurt and cinnamon was the answer to a light breakfast I'd wished for. It was fresh, light and filling. Oh and as other Yelpers have mentioned, Room 10 is home to surely some of the friendliest and least "I'm to hip to have a smile on my face" staff I've had the pleasure of talking with in Sydney. For once the expectation I'd placed upon this innocent cafe and it's rice breakfast stood up to my hopes and said, "Challenge Accepted."

Yelp
Sis and I came here for Friday morning breakky. Loved the vibe, loved the staff, loved the food. Ordered the panne with super amazingly fresh trout. SO rich and good. Put me in a food coma. The coffee was so good I ordered two. This place is awesome. Nuff said!!!

Yelp
My wife had beef sandwich and me a ham toastie. both great, best ever, 5 star! The waitress is both enthusiastic and helpful. The location is a bit hard to find. Just trust the Google map and remember there's a 10 sign above.

Angel L.

Yelp
Had breakfast here 2 days in a row. The staff is deliciously friendly as you can see by our selfie. If you ever in Sydney, Potts Point, join them you will love it. We are visiting from Denver and Miami.

Yelp
You know how little holes in the wall are... the mint in the mashed avocado with the chile is so amazing. Perfect breakfast, friendly staff, would definitely recommend!
google avatar

Rob P.

Yelp
This place lives up to then hype! One of the best cappuccinos I've ever had plus one of the best sandwiches as well... Ham, egg, cheese, and a spicy sauce. So good. I just wish they had wifi, though to their credit Andrew tried to set me up with his phone's wifi hotspot.

Yelp
What a little jewel to have found on a quaint street where you can meet locals and their cute puppies while waiting for your table. Great service coffee and breakfast.
google avatar

Yelp
Best Sydney brunch experience during our family visit. Thoroughly recommend stopping here for brunch.
google avatar

Yelp
Arrived relatively late in the morning to find this place quite busy, spilling onto the street. We were quickly led to a small table outside that was privy to the wind coming through the breezeway, but the heater above took the edge off. The menu is new, compared to what is currently on Yelp. Food on one side, drinks on the other. Prices are a tad more. The freshly squeezed orange juice was pleasantly found to be blood orange. Win! The new salami sandwich and Salvatori (open) sandwich (with extra avocado) were both well assembled and delicious. A note to vegetarians and vegans, in particular, there are not a lot of options if you want to eat a well-rounded meal. It is manageable, though. It was an easy win on this occasion and there may be another in the future.

Yelp
So Room 10 is not just a creative name - the entire establishment is the size of a small room. 10 people can fit inside. (Ok fine, so maybe it's a nod to the address, but I'd like to think otherwise.) But what's that old "it's not the size of the ship" adage? 'Cause damn, do the fine folks behind this establishment produce incredible things from such a humble shop. Fantastic breakfast. Incredible coffee. It's a small menu, big flavours, focus-on-the-important-things-because-they're-all-we-have-room-for type of place. And I'm completely into it. It's brilliance, understated. And dare I say - it's the best coffee I've had in Sydney thus far. Indeed, I dare. Get there quick, while there are still seats available... 9 and counting...

Yelp
Tiny indoor/outdoor cafe bustling with breakfast/brunch service and takeaway espressos. Delicious avo toast & coffees. A bit pricey, but lovely. Not the place to study or have an intimate conversation, but definitely seems to be a local favorite. Helpful friendly staff who were quick to acknowledge us and help us feel welcome.

Yelp
Walking through Kings Cross in the middle of the day is a surreal experience, it's as if the whole world (within the X) went quiet, no longer are there tooting cars, loud clubs, and interrupting bouncers, it's a tranquil slightly off-beat day time adventure. Room 10 conveniently places itself in Potts Point, which is still on the main strip of Kings Cross the notorious night life district of Sydney, if you're unfamiliar. Within a cosy little side street, adjoining hostels and laundromats, is a hole in the wall breakfast & coffee bar. With ample outdoor seating Room 10 does fit more than 10 people - so you can take your extended family of 12. The long L shaped kitchen within the cafe ensures that you always see how/who and what people are ordering. The service is great, and the waitress is always within a metre in this tiny place, constantly replenishing your stock of tap water, and/or coffee. I had the Avo on Toast - and was asked if I'd like the linseed sourdough, which was fantastic! With ample avocado to spread evenly (more than just a green hue) across the toast. Most coffee's look great, and are very carefully constructed, although at the time mine was slightly burnt on the creme. I will go back again, and give them the benefit of the doubt.

Yelp
Great coffee. Brisket sandwich outstanding. Toast avocado salmon meal delicious Good pricing Cool location in an alley right near Kings Cross and Potts Point Some of the best breakfast in Sydney
google avatar

Bernie E.

Yelp
Well organised pigeon hole style cafe. In a laneway location, inside outside seating options. The wait staff very good, coffee was not exceptional as good coffee in Potts Point is available at many cafes. Pay with Cash only ???
google avatar

Sophia W.

Yelp
What an amazing experience! We loved our delicious lunch and were presently surprised by how reasonably priced everything was. Coffee was wonderful and promptly served. Food was incredible, although my meal was served earlier than friends. Staff were very nice and accommodated our request to be seated outside because it was so hot inside. I would definitely visit again! A truly wonderful experience.
google avatar

David K.

Yelp
A great little place for a great meal. Avocado toast with feta/mint was delicious, as was the brisket sandwich. Definitely would come here again.
google avatar

Yelp
Literally a MUST VISIT if you are in the Potts Point/Kings Cross Area. The people here were as kind as could be. There is seating inside and outside and the outside seating is accompanied with an overhead heater! Staff of friendliest locals you could ever meet! Very accommodating of tourists and shared helpful tips on what to do and where to go! The patrons were also very kind! Place is tiny but the coffee and espresso were great! Would recommend to any tourist. Cash Only! there is an ATM around the corner!
google avatar

Tiffany J.

Yelp
The staff here is great, and the food is a well so why only three stars. Minus 1 start for running out of sandwiches which left only salad available for the most part. Minus another star because the seats as well as the table are very uncomfortable and small. Would give three and a half if possible.
google avatar

Danielle B.

Yelp
If I could just write yummy all over the page I would! This is so great, so good and has such a cool vibe. I really like the food, I would recommend if you're in the area pop in for a bite to eat! You can't go wrong here.
google avatar

Kyle O.

Yelp
Visited Sydney for a week and this was our favorite cafe. We tried not to go to the same place more than once but it was hard for us because this place had really good coffee and pastries. We highly recommend this place to any local or tourist that enjoys the cafe scene. Be warned: they don't have a sign, but are located right next to Orwell's Coffee.
google avatar

Genevieve H.

Yelp
A bustling hole in the wall which addresses all of your brunch and coffee needs. I had the breakfast toastie but there were so many options that sounded good. A place to make your regular.
google avatar

Diego A.

Yelp
Really good breakfast sandwiches, very filling and affordable. Great service as well! Definitely recommend!
google avatar

Yelp
Amazing Brisket Sandwich, great coffee and service. I much enjoyed my mornings here the last couple of days.
google avatar

Yelp
It felt a bit like squeezing into a corner in your mom's kitchen during a loud family reunion. It's definitely cozy inside with only a few tables and you're up against the small kitchen, but it's a great vibe nonetheless. There's an interesting mix of food available to order- definitely don't come here if you want standard eggs and bacon, because that's not a standard option. Instead, think breakfast salads, smashed eggs and avocado on toast or the delicious of what I ordered- peanut butter toast with banana, honey and toasted almonds. The focus is on the coffee (amazing) and having a neighborhood vibe, so expect your server to ask how your day's going and to linger a bit longer than normal to have a chat. If I was in the mood for a big breakfast I wouldn't come here- but for a nibble and a friendly hug, for sure!
google avatar

Amanda N.

Yelp
My partner and I were just visiting Sydney and we wanted to have brunch somewhere that served more than just your average bacon and eggs on toast. We decided on Room 10 as the reviews and photos seemed really promising, and once we got there it definitely delivered on everything we wanted. The staff were super friendly, efficient and courteous, and we felt well looked after the whole time. The place is on the small side but we got seated at a table that was half inside, half outside, which gave us a pretty cute and cosy experience. Coffee was great and served in beautiful ceramic cups. Food was delicious and hearty, with quality ingredients. I had the chickpea, cabbage and kale soup of the day, my partner had the beef brisket sandwich, and we shared the ocean trout pane (we wanted to try as many things as possible). We left with full and happy tummies - everything was awesome. When we went to pay we had a lovely chat with the staff, and afterwards we felt we had such a great time I decided to write this review. Great place if you want something wholesome, delicious, and different from your average brunch palace.
google avatar

Martin D.

Yelp
Tucked away in a side street off the main drag in Kings Cross, Room 10 provides patrons with both indoor and outdoor dining options, an excellent menu and a range of craft beers and wines that would repay several visits. Not Cafe cheap but not too expensive. Keep this one for when you want to lift your brunch game.
google avatar

Anders N.

Yelp
Finally a good cup of coffee in Sydney! The food is not bad either - it is though, as it seems all Australian cafes and restaurants very asian flavour inspired. A bit of a shame, that a nice ocean trout with avocado, has to be soaked in lemon / lime juice, and that the braised beef also has to be sweet and soy tasting. But all in all, a better eat than most places in Sydney - and a better coffee by far!
google avatar

Larry H.

Yelp
Great breakfast spot with food and drink at a very reasonable price. I got the Breakfast Trout Pane and it was delicious.
google avatar

Tresna L.

Yelp
What a cute nook of a cafe. How on earth they pump out the variety and quality of food that they do with such a minuscule kitchen is beyond me. But they do, and it's very very good. The soaked rice with fresh fruits and yoghurt is excellent. So many places would go over the top with portion size on something like this, but instead they focus on the quality of the fruit and give a "normal" portion that means you can eat it all and feel energised rather than needing a nap afterwards. Oh and the coffee is banging', let's not forget that!
google avatar

Alex C.

Yelp
The toast with avocado, mint, feta is to die for. And the loose leaf tea is amazing! I wish I lived in Sydney so I could make this a regular breakfast place. Do yourself a favor and go here. :) cool feel and location too! They have tables inside and outside (little ones)
google avatar

Casey Y.

Yelp
I heard a lot of people raving about this place so I had to check it out myself and it ended up being really delicious. I ordered a Toastie with salmon. The sandwich was like an Eggs Benedict un sandwich mode. Everything was perfectly cooked and the poached egg ran down smoothly. One thing that I like was how the sandwich stayed in tact during my whole time eating it. A thing that annoys me is when a sandwich always has their insides pushing out and everything ends up falling apart. Customer service was really nice as well. I really recommend this for brunch!
google avatar

Sean N.

Yelp
Here on vacation and decided after yelp reviews to check it out. delicious breakfast, cozy atmosphere, great staff! This place is an epic find tucked down a little alley in Potts Point. Had the pane sandwich with smoked ham but had a hard time deciding on it with all of the intriguing options available on their menu. As usual, the coffee was my ace! Latte was perfection and the cappuccino my boy friend ordered looked amazing too. Definitely coming back before we leave Sydney.
google avatar

Julie N.

Yelp
The reviews about the trout salad with a soft boiled egg were on point. So good! The trout sandwich is exactly the same thing on just one slice of bread (open face) - get more bang for your buck with the salad. Fresh-squeezed orange juice is excellent! Super small venue & more than likely there will be a wait. Worth it! Not good for groups. Great for a personal catch up. Located in alleyway that reminds me of Melbourne. Cash only.
google avatar

Georgiana C.

Yelp
Food was so tasty and fresh I have the chicken salad with poached egg and toast. It had everything I was wanting fresh herbs crispy radish perfectly cooked chicken a runny egg and beautifully made toast perfect for dipping. I also ordered a almond flat white which might I add was the best almond flat white I've ever had defiantly would come back just for the coffee. Down side it the seating was a bit difficult to enjoy my meal as I was cautious and slightly uncomfortable the whole time sitting on the miniature dinning wear. The staff were just ok not that friendly to be honest a little bit awkward and obviously not really enjoying the job. I mean I work in customer service also and can say the lady who served me might of been having an off day, who knows I know I have those days sometimes. Overall food great coffee great that's all that matters definitely going back and taking some of my food loving minions with me
google avatar

Eliza B.

Yelp
Somehow Room 10 has captured the loveliness of Melbourne's little lane way breakfast culture. Such a pleasing vibe in this little place, which is hidden away down a lane that is easily missed. Less wide than the tiny alley it faces, patrons sit at little tables under a cozy yellow light while the staff run up and down ladders to grab ingredients that are quite literally stacked to the ceiling. Jars of Nutella, drawers of fresh sourdough bread labelled soy linseed, fig, and other delights abound above the row of sandwich toasters. Our table was right in the middle of the kitchen and the staff's coordinated efficiency was pretty impressive to watch. Even at 1ish on a Sunday they had us seated within a few minutes. The menu was so enticing we ordered way more food then we could possibly eat, but thoroughly enjoyed the red rice, black quinoa with rhubarb, kiwi and yogurt, the tuna sandwich, the tuna salad, and cookies. All were good. The bread on the sandwiches was great, and perfectly toasted. Things run a bit more toward tart rather than the sweet, and everything was priced quite reasonably, with many options in the $10-$12 range. Teas and coffees were also enjoyed and the staff was helpful and pleasant.
google avatar

Yelp
Hipsters unite! This place is fantastic, especially the coffee. They use Mecca espresso beans so you can go wrong. This is literally a hole in the wall, but the good was great and the coffee was very well done. To top it all off, the staff was awesome. Friendly and on top of it. The only problem is it a small place, which means not that much seating. We were lucky that we got a seat, but there were a lot of people who came looking and could not find a place to sit. Will be coming here again.
