16 Best Airbnbs in Iceland (2024), From Reykjavik Abodes to Countryside Cabins

"Located right off of Laugavegur, this two-bedroom, one-bath home offers a cozy living space (and backyard) to relax in. There’s also a washer and dryer in the space—a more-than-welcomed amenity after a day of hiking the nearby Thingvellir National Park." - Erika Owen

A wonderful location to get anywhere, supermarket close, little ones even closer, meeting point bus stop close, restaurants and shops everywhere! Very nice apartment room, loud music didn't bother me with earplugs or I would just enjoy it. Ended by 23h. Nice beds and clean and neat. Lovely and quick service via phone/e-mail. Town and hotel safe as my opinion. Recommend!

Don’t stay here if you want to get any sleep at the weekend! Booming live music from bar next door and then revellers having great fun until about 3:30 AM. Monday onwards the music finished about 11 and revellers left street by about midnight allowing us to sleep. That said the location was very central which was obviously handy but I would not recommend this for a family unless you’re partying too! Apartment was very tired and basic. The beds were comfortable and it seemed clean.

“Exceptional location, very noisy bar - bring you earplugs” I spent only one night during a stop over to the USA. The advantages are: - Exceptional location in a very live central street. - clean and very spacious rooms. There is a full kitchenette with refrigerator. Also, there was a sofa bed. - the price was reasonable (around 140$ per night). The disadvantages are: - confusion about the name of the hotel and whereabouts: the hotel is known by 3 names: Mani hotel, room with a view, and midtown hotel by Heimaleiga! I think the hotel might be a mix of apartments hotel and hotel rooms. However, there is no staff to ask... Also, depending on where the emails will tell you to go, you could enter from one entrance on one of 2 different streets (with different addresses) but not the other, although you could exit from any entrance. - The bar issue. It is true that the bar is very noisy. You could hear the loud muffled music, Karaoke singing, people cheering, etc., through vibrating walls. This will make sleep impossible. Luckily, in my case, this stopped as promised (through notes in the room) at 23:00, and I was really tired by then, so, I slept. I read in reviews that some people was disturbed by noise from surrounding bars after that hour on other days though, but I did not encounter that issue. It is quite interesting how soundproofing a bar under a residential building, which is a standard even in developing countries, was ignored in this hotel/bar case. Also, another fun fact; the hotel said they will leave ear plugs, which was not done in my case. However, I doubt that ear plugs might have helped, given vibration transmitted through walls and furniture... - Weird communications: The hotel sent me messages through booking site, that included their phone number. This led the booking site (as a security measure, or maybe to avoid bypassing the site in arrangements) to block my devices!! Interestingly, the hotel asked for a photo of my passport to be sent to them before (accepting) my booking, even though Agoda already took the money. When I sent the hotel (who communicated with me via email after the booking site blocking our communications) a scan of the passport, they rejected it and insisted on a "photo" of the passport!! - Putting a carpet (rug) inside the room. This is a trivial issue, but I have not seen that in high-end hotels. This is because of the wear and tear. As expected, it was worn out and it did not look great... So, in summary, the bar noise issue could be a real deal-breaker, and the hotel management knows the issue very well.

I‘ve been on my way to write a review on a hotel in downtown Reykjavík, Iceland, for years, formerly known as Room With a View, but now moved on to simply being Midtown Hotel, operated by Icelandic accommodation establishment Heimaleiga.||||Firstly, the location of Midtown Hotel is one of the most excellent to be found in or near the Reykjavík city center. The Icelandic capital is not easily explored by foot, I lived there for 36 years. For most errands you need a car or public transport – but not downtown. Downtown is all walking and Midtown Hotel is just the right spot to be located should it tempt you to go see the Reykjavík downtown area walking. Do it.||||Secondly, Midtown Hotel has every reason to take pride in very clean and spacious rooms, many of them with a view so breathtaking that even (former) long time residents of the city experience an overwhelming feeling of reverence, wonder and veneration.||||Last, but definitely not least, the helpful, hospitable and very courteous staff of Midtown Hotel composes the paramount core and vital nucleus of an unforgetable visit to Reykjavík. This is important to me.||||Since 2021 I have exclusively chosen Midtown Hotel (Room With a View) as my accommodation during my 2-3 annual visits to Iceland, never to be regretful at my choice. I am a man of supreme traditionalism, even boardering on ultraconservatism, and always stay in the same room. In spite of these extreme eccentricities of mine, the staff of Midtown Hotel has always striven to meet my cravings and whims in this regard. For that I will be grateful until the day I die.||||During this last visit in March I celebrated my 50th birthday on my native soil, Iceland, and for just this sole occasion settled in one of the hotel‘s excellent suites on the top floor. Time was short that day, I had a social event starting at 17 o‘clock and a long list of tasks to accomplice. I desperately needed the room an hour before check-in time. Of course the wonderful cleaning ladies from Ukraine and Romania saved the day by letting me in early and on top of that tolerating my girlfriend and me in there, unpacking, as they did their arduous cleaning work with excellence and sheer perfection.||||It is for the aforementioned standards, virtues and reasons I eagerly give Midtown Hotel and it‘s staff my warmest of recommendations and most humble of regards.||||Atli Steinn Guðmundsson

The location is great and the rooms are clean/spacious. However the noise from the bar below is what ruined our stay. From around 8pm, the music is extremely loud & you can hear it clearly. There is no way to mask the noise. I appreciate a central location will mean that noise is expected however this was excessive and kept us awake after a busy day & early flight. I contacted the hotel (who did respond quickly) but the only advice they gave was that "Being located in a vibrant area, noise can be a challenge. Earplugs are available near the entrance for your convenience. The music usually stops at 11 pm." This was the same situation both nights we stayed (a Saturday and Sunday). The bar advertises that there is live music every night so it is not isolated to weekends only. A real pity as rooms were lovely but the noise is not what you would expect on this kind of trip.

Great central location. Rooms were clean and comfortable. The establishment below has live music every evening but they end at a very reasonable hour. We enjoyed our first night hanging in the room listening to great covers from the 60s through 80s.

I was here 20 years ago and our apartment was gorgeous. I came back 5 years ago and we had a beautiful apartment as well, with a balcony. During this stay we were given a large studio apartment (room 432) and it was nice, but it did seem a little dated. However, it was quiet (the street noise was not bad) , the beds were very comfortable and it was clean. It had a small kitchenette which was sufficient for our needs. It also had a jacuzzi with a handheld shower head, as well as a fixed shower nozzle above. This might have been great for a younger couple, but for us it was not ideal as the jacuzzi was very slippery and it made it difficult to take a simple shower. But we managed. Otherwise, most of the staff was friendly and they were very responsive to emails prior to our arrival. The location can’t be beat. They also allowed us early check in and luggage storage before check in and after check out which was greatly appreciated. But do not expect there to be someone at the front desk all the time. There is a code for the door and another for your apartment and you kind of do your own thing. This worked out fine for us. And we did have a room with a very nice view. We enjoyed our stay overall and would probably stay here again.

We spent 5 nights here, our room was lovely, we were in an end room with 3 floor to ceiling windows curved round the room. Room had everything we needed - comfy bed, coffee station, good shower, safe. We found the room to be too warm in March and slept with the windows open. Not too noisy from outside. No noise from bar below in the room we were in. |Bathroom could do with an extractor and main light needed bulbs replaced. |Would stay here again as nice space and right in the centre with lots of great bars and restaurants around.
