Rooms at the Apple Pie

It has been a couple of years since our last stay, it was great to return and see standards just as good as our previous stays.||There are now additional car parking spaces made available a short walk away, which is very welcome. ||Our room was at the front, it’s cosy and has everything you would need. Very comfortable bed, nice decor, small but ample storage spaces and carefully designed bathroom to maximise space.||They have an honesty facility in the foyer and a small fridge for guests to use. Whilst absolutely not any fault of the staff, I was very disappointed to see that a can of G&T had gone astray……it was clearly labelled with our room number. Some people have no shame. ||We really enjoyed our stay, great location and comfortable room.||Highly recommended.

Can't beat the location,the staff or the cleanliness. But it's the small well thought of things that matter and those were done well. Wine glasses, bottle opener,access to fresh milk in morning and real coffee,couldn't ask for more. Not to mention free parking.We enjoyed our stay so much, we've booked for 3 days later in the year. Brilliant

Stayed in room 2 as it was dog friendly, the room was clean and comfortable, bathroom only small but perfectly fine for a couple of days. Location was ideal for local shops and restaurants and walks, small carpark at the front is handy. The only negative is the pillows are flat as a pancake, we woke up with stiff necks and it was hard to get comfortable through the night. Also there was nowhere to put toiletries in the shower so shampoo etc had to go on the floor, there were a few cobwebs hanging from the ceiling in the bedroom, and other residents decided to have a conversation outside the room early in the morning! a little annoying. But I would recommend the rooms if you want a couple of days in Ambleside, we love this part of the lakes and visit every year.

Nice clean rooms and bathroom. Staff friendly and accomodating.|Great location for exploring the lakes etc. Public transport, boats etc all near at hand. Ambleside has lots on offer when staying. |The bakery was wonderful to, it was lovely waking up to beautiful aromas in the morning, 10% off for guests was welcome but maybe 20 would be even better.

I walked down the street from my hotel and saw this bakery I waled in and purchased a premium sausage roll and jam donut these were fresh and full of flavour you could taste the care that went in

Stayed in room 2, it was clean and comfortable. Everyone of the staff were so helpful. Situated within a stride away from great places to eat, breakfast at the apple pie next door, The Tap yard and the Flying fleece on the other side, all serve great food. So close to all the shops. We had a lovely stay, would definitely stay again for another break in Ambleside.

Very highly recommended. Overall, an excellent B&B set-up in the centre of Ambleside with a café and its own bakery. It has a slightly quirky off-beat feel but it is high quality. All the staff were terrific. BUT beware of the being allocated an attic room. There are two low beams supporting the roof, a step and low archway from the room front door into the bedroom and a low ceiling as you exit the room to go down the stairs. Anyone over 4 foot six inches tall will be constantly banging their heads. It was amusing for the first few times, but slightly annoying thereafter. It was similar to Manuel in Fawlty Towers who spent his time walking around bent in half to avoid Basil Fawlty’s thumpings! However, we passed rooms on the lower floors and they looked fabulous. ||Breakfast in the café next door was enormous with gluten avoiding options and great coffee! The bakery makes excellent bread and cakes, fresh every day. The bath buns are enormous and my non coeliac wife drooled!||As the gluten containing products and gluten free products are baked in the same bakery, the café quite correctly informs those of the Coeliac persuasion that while the gluten free products are made with non gluten ingredients, the bakery cannot guarantee that there is no cross contamination with gluten containing products. I had gluten free bread for breakfast and sampled the café’s gluten free falafel wrap and apple pie, all of which were excellent and I had no digestive problems. Those who are very sensitive with the Coeliac allergy might feel the need to avoid these gluten avoiding products.||Parking in front of the B&B is limited and difficult to access but there is plenty of designated off-street parking a couple of minutes away.
