Stayed in room 2, it was clean and comfortable. Everyone of the staff were so helpful. Situated within a stride away from great places to eat, breakfast at the apple pie next door, The Tap yard and the Flying fleece on the other side, all serve great food. So close to all the shops. We had a lovely stay, would definitely stay again for another break in Ambleside.

We booked a weekend in mid Oct , we couldn't make reception opening times (after 5.30) but getting room keys was easy and managed to get a parking spot outside and the hotel is in a great location. we were in room 7 which is a loft conversion on the 3rd floor, headroom isn't great I wouldn't recommend it if you're tall. The room was warm even with heating off and with no windows that will open is stuffy at best. On the second night I actually went to sleep in the car as it was to warm for me to sleep in the room. I wouldn't rule out staying here again but would check which room we had been allocated before booking.

Very highly recommended. Overall, an excellent B&B set-up in the centre of Ambleside with a café and its own bakery. It has a slightly quirky off-beat feel but it is high quality. All the staff were terrific. BUT beware of the being allocated an attic room. There are two low beams supporting the roof, a step and low archway from the room front door into the bedroom and a low ceiling as you exit the room to go down the stairs. Anyone over 4 foot six inches tall will be constantly banging their heads. It was amusing for the first few times, but slightly annoying thereafter. It was similar to Manuel in Fawlty Towers who spent his time walking around bent in half to avoid Basil Fawlty’s thumpings! However, we passed rooms on the lower floors and they looked fabulous. ||Breakfast in the café next door was enormous with gluten avoiding options and great coffee! The bakery makes excellent bread and cakes, fresh every day. The bath buns are enormous and my non coeliac wife drooled!||As the gluten containing products and gluten free products are baked in the same bakery, the café quite correctly informs those of the Coeliac persuasion that while the gluten free products are made with non gluten ingredients, the bakery cannot guarantee that there is no cross contamination with gluten containing products. I had gluten free bread for breakfast and sampled the café’s gluten free falafel wrap and apple pie, all of which were excellent and I had no digestive problems. Those who are very sensitive with the Coeliac allergy might feel the need to avoid these gluten avoiding products.||Parking in front of the B&B is limited and difficult to access but there is plenty of designated off-street parking a couple of minutes away.

We stayed Here for the bank holiday weekend ,august and What a fab little find. It's very well situated in the heart of ambleside. We stayed at the apple loft in Room 34 which overlooks the House over the river and it had amazing views over the mountains and hills. It was peaceful, comfy and so handy.

We got a late deal on the loft room at The Apple Pie.||The location is ideal for exploring Ambleside and our room overlooked the famous bridge house.||Our room was lovely with a comfy bed, smart TV and a fridge. The bathroom had a good shower (albeit over a bath) and great views from the windows.||We had a lovely weekend here and would recommend this venue.

We had a fab stay here recently whilst my husband was taking part in an Ultramarathon around Windermere (!). The location is perfect for the centre of Ambleside, with the fabulous bakery & cafe next door. The car park outside the front of the property was full but there was a big public carpark very close by so parking was no problem at all. The room was just what we needed, clean and had a very comfy bed! The tea and coffee making facilities were great - with filter coffee available and an added surprise of some of the delicious Gingerbread from the bakery!|The staff were lovely and so helpful. |We're looking forward to returning to this hotel....for a more relaxing break next time!

We visited the Apple pie this weekend as we were up in Ambleside doing the Lakeland recce. I rang and booked the room very last minute. It was ideal small , affordable, very clean and no charge for the parking. They don't do bed and breakfast but we didn't need it. They do however leave you a taster of their homemade gingerbread in the room which is amazing and 10% discount in their shop next door.. Which we made use of. Ideal location right in the centre of Ambleside.
