All my favorite Indian places in Hiroshima keep closing after they get me hooked. I went to Roopali attempting to find a new spot. The food is good, but doesn't match the flavor and quality of some other spots that used to be in Hiroshima, and that you can find in other areas of Japan.
Lunch sets are usually what I go for at these type of places. The nan is large and nice and fluffy, but could have stayed a little longer in the tandoor for a crispier underbelly. The curry had nice flavor, but needed way more heat. The salad was not my favorite as I wasn't feeling the dressing. The rice was Japanese rice that had been overlooked with a little saffron in it. If you just want one flavor of curry, maybe it would be better to order a curry and a nan instead of a set. The lassi was pretty standard, but the larger size than other restaurant's sets was appreciated. I love to have it with my curry!
Keep in mind the people smoke in here, and you will of course smell it even if you are sitting at a nonsmoking table. Thankfully not one started smoking until we were about finished eating. I would return if I was craving Indian food in the area. However, I wouldn't go out of my way to come here like I did last time.
