This place is better than expected and it has excellent ways of managing Covid. My wife and I stayed here for 2 nights in September 2020 during the Covid pandemic. Prior to the pandemic we travelled on vacation by airplane approx. 4 times a year, but due to Covid we are reduced to taking regional road trips in the car. Normally in the past we chose hotels such as Holiday Inn Express, Hampton Inn, Comfort Inn, etc., usually choosing whichever building appeared to be the newest. But during the pandemic I came up with the idea of choosing a different type of hotel, a "motor inn" where the car pulls right up to the room, meaning there is no elevator to use and no corridors to walk. This seems safer. And in this case, it worked out great, because there was also no registration and no office to visit. I made my reservation over the phone because the hotel's online reservation system did not seem to be up to normal standards. Over the phone the staff took my credit card number and held a deposit. They explained that my room key will be in a realtor lock-box hanging from the doorknob, and they sent me a code to the lock-box by email, a day prior to my visit. Good ideas! Kudos to the management. I was really pleased. Getting into the room was going to be a problem because i didn't know how to handle the realtor lock-box, but as I was wrestling with it, after 30 seconds a voice rang out, telling me how to get the key out ... it was the manager talking to me, peering out from her door. Thanks.. Now I got it. We were pleased with the room. This was our first hotel visit since the pandemic hit, and we started out by spending 15 minutes wiping all the surfaces in the room with our Lysol and paper towels. We brought our own cleaning supplies. The management had already put the TV remote into a clear plastic wrap, but I cleaned the wrap, too. The room was good-sized, and just as good as a Comfort Inn except maybe the bathroom was a tiny bit below that standard because there was little or no storage spaces available in the bathroom to put your toiletry bags. The only other drawback to the room was that it could have used some more color or some more wall art. Everything was beige. But the decor was somewhat classy and was better than expected, and it was nice. The mattresses are very good. My wife commented on getting very good sleep and she really liked the mattress. She was super pleased with the motel. Shortly after arrival I knocked on the manager's door and requested some more decaf coffee for the in-room Keurig. The manager provided it, no problem. The room has a mini fridge that worked well and the heater worked well (wall unit was not too noisy). The TV is very good. There is no microwave in the room. We paid about $104 per night including taxes and fees, and I think this place is a great value for the money. Highly recommended. Now we will take more road trips using motor inns, but the inns might not be as good as the Roosevelt.
