We would not stay here again. Let me start with the positives: the location is great and the staff are super nice. But the rooms are dingy. The A/C is wall units and were not up to the task. When they are running you're blasted with freezing cold air, when they stop, you're sweating hot. So don't visit during the heat of the summer. The WiFi situation was extremely inconvenient. We had been warned by both the hotel and reviews that they choke down the WiFi. Our first night there was no issue, but for the rest of the visit it barely worked. It didn't "choke down," it threw us offline completely. Even if we only had one computer turned on, we were still thrown offline. This was very problematic as we were trying to make plans with another couple and needed to access the internet. The internet even didn't work for us at 4 a.m., which is a problem is you are trying to do any travel planning. Finally, if your room is on the second floor there are no elevators (we had been warned of this by other reviewers but wanted to reiterate that). Also, rooms are not serviced during your stay so be aware you will need to make your own beds and tidy your own room. The breakfast is very simple and basic, the coffee was weak but there's a coffee kiosk walking distance from the inn called Ready Stop which I highly recommend and they open at 5 a.m. The A/C situation made sleeping very uncomfortable but don't expect to be able to doomscroll to lull yourself back to sleep!

Lovely motel centrally located. The room was clean and comfortable. We opened windows in the front and back, so we had a springtime breeze. One bonus was that the walkway has chairs and overhang. We enjoyed sitting outside reading about FDR while drinking coffee.

My wife and I enjoyed our stay at The Roosevelt Inn if Hyde Park last evening. It was refreshing to stay in a small "old style" motel where the office is part of the owner's residence. It was reminiscent of the motels that I stayed in with my parents as a young boy, but, despite the darkened pine paneling (something sadly missing from modern motels), our room was fresh and clean and was just what the website advertised. If we have the opportunity to visit the area again, we will be sure to revisit the Roosevelt Inn!

Great place, very retro but in a good way. Huge bed and bathrooms. The remodel was done by experts so everything looks brand new. The staff is very friendly and helpful with advice about the local area. Hyde Park is a very cool town that FDR would be proud of to this day.

Google
We highly recommend the Roosevelt Inn. We were very fortunate to find this centrally located motel in Hyde Park. Our room was immaculate, bed very comfortable, the price was beyond reasonable, and the owners gracious. ||Perfect for our midweek, overnight stay in March. We look forward to visiting again.

If I could find a place like this in every town I would stay there. The entire place is spotless, inside and out. Updated furnishings, nice table and chairs to sit, comfortable bed. |I have had this trip planned for a year and unexpected knee surgery, the owner personally brought a shower chair to the room so I would be comfortable in the shower. Check in was easy and friendly. |We loved the little diner area for breakfast. They had cereal, fruit, donuts, bagels, coffee and juice. They were continually filling it up as needed. Perfect spot to stay when visiting the FDR sights. |We loved it.

I stayed one night at the Roosevelt Inn and had a great experience. The place is so much better than a hotel. Very clean and efficient and at a great price. There was a printed card with the housekeeping rules and I appreciated that they were very clear about them. It doesn’t usually happen. My recent experiences with hotels that double (or triple) the price of this one have been disappointing for one reason or other (smelly pillows for ex.) but everything was great here. I highly recommend it if you are in the area.

Don’t hesitate to stay at this hotel! This is a true motel that is very well-maintained. The exterior is painted perfectly and everything is very neat and clean. The interior is a true motel but the beds are very comfortable and bathroom flooring, etc. is very clean. It’s been 30 years since I’ve been to this particular hotel, and it’s still a great value and great little motel owned by the same people locals of Hyde Park.

Yelp
Staying at the Roosevelt Inn was an absolute highlight of our weekend in Hyde Park. We came to the area because we were eating dinner at the CIA and the Roosevelt provided a convenient location. However, it completely surpassed expectations. Little touches like a night light in the bathroom made a big difference and I would absolutely stay here if in the area again.

Yelp
Wonderful place to stay! It was clean, staff were very nice and helpful, and it's located near all the sites. There is a coffee shop on the bottom floor that serves a continental breakfast until 11AM.

Yelp
Stepping back in time at breakfast This is our spot every time we come to care for our elderly mother. Clean and gracious staff. We ask for a room in the two story building because each room has its own air conditioner; the subtle story building has one master air conditioning system which isn't as strong. The Coffee Shop where they serve breakfast is a lovely treat compared to the average breakfast room of hotels. We're coming here again.

Yelp
This is an amazing place! I'm looking for reasons to visit just so I can stay there? Friendly, clean and so close to historic landmarks. A pleasure to have such personal service.

Yelp
Loved everything about this place. Immaculately maintained, thoughtfully run with nice attention to small details. Staff is friendly, gracious and extremely helpful. Continental breakfast is a notch above and set in the charmingly retro "Coffee Shop". Will definitely return!

Yelp
This little motel is well taken care of & it shows in the cleanliness & comfort of your room. It was perfect for our visit to the FDR library & Vanderbilt Mansion. Convenient location. Nice breakfast room for free continental breakfast. Bathroom was small but spotless & water pressure was wonderful!

Yelp
These travelers and sightseerers could not have asked for more. Extremely clean and well-appointed room. COVID-19 protocols are enforced. We felt comfortable in our surroundings. The little coffee shop has a variety of easy breakfast items and plenty of hot coffee. Front desk was so pleasant. Most everything was contactless. Highly recommend this lovely Motor Lodge. So much to see and do in The Hudson Valley.

Yelp
Wonderful place to stay! Very clean and staff was very friendly! Reminds me of motels from the sixties when owners actually cared about guests. Thank you so much!

Yelp
Utterly charming and pristine clean! From the neon sign welcoming you in, to the quaint front desk and old school room key with key chain, this place is straight out of a Marilyn Monroe movie. The gleaming pine walls in the "rustic room" are matched by the pink tiled bathroom. There's crisp clean linens, WiFi and TV. Don't miss free breakfast in the coffee shop! Location on the main road through Hyde Park is perfect and just a short drive to the Vanderbilt and FDR historic sites. A huge bonus is the drive-in movie right down the street that's open every night from late spring to early fall. A surprising must see!

Yelp
If you want rustic but modern, very clean and well manicured this is the place for you. My new favorite place when not staying in a hotel. Staff is friendly. Cafe is retro and fun. Very pretty place and very convenient to everywhere.

Yelp
Happy first timers. Our deluxe room was a very pleasant surprise. Spotlessly clean. The room and bathroom are huge. The little refrigerator was quiet - it's one of the irritations I have with the chain hotels that their refrigerators make too much noise. I usually unplug them but this one was great. We liked the contactless check in and check out process. You can tell this is a family owned and operated business if you notice the tended flower boxes, pretty porch chairs, and interesting pictures highlighting antique car clubs that stay here. For good reason.

Yelp
Superior value; this is one of those places you can feel good about giving your money to and will want to tell all your friends about, and on top of that they really give you more than your money's worth in return. A lovely, family-run small business that has been a longstanding establishment in the Hyde Park area. In addition, its location is way more convenient to the NPS sites than most other chain hotels or motels. With only one car, we were able to split the family up and do extra pickups and drop-offs with ease so the little one could take his nap, and still have plenty of time to catch all the sights. The cheery ambiance is even reflected in the fellow patrons, most of whom were very neighborly at breakfast time.

Yelp
Stayed for 2 nights in a deluxe twin room and had a wonderful experience. Step back in time on your stay at this immaculately clean old school 1950s motel. By no means a 5 star luxury full service hotel but it has everything you need for a pleasant stay. My room was one of the recently renovated deluxe rooms with very comfortable beds, spotless bathroom, excellent air-conditioning, free wifi, complementary breakfast (bagels, cereal, etc nothing fancy). I liked that part of the floors in the room were wood laminate and not all wall to wall carpet. The breakfast room was adorable and stocked every morning with fresh bagels and doughnuts, cereal, fruit, coffee, juice, etc. Affordable pricing, charming and nostalgic, family owned and run business smack in the middle if Hyde Park near all the sights (FDR home and presidential library, High Cottage, Val Kill, the Culinary Institute, Vanderbilt estate, Astor estate (rhinebeck), Livingston estate (staatsburgh mansion).. Need I say more?

Sara C.

Yelp
Very nice and clean motel. It didn't look renovated to me like some of the other reviewers mentioned, but the family suite was perfect for what we needed. No problems whatsoever. Unfortunately, FDR's home in Hyde Park was closed and that was disappointing, but it is certainly not the fault of the Roosevelt Inn. We visited the town of Rhinebeck instead and ate at 2 very nice restaurants in the area. If they could find a place to put in a small pool (or have passes to a local one), that would make it even better. Wishing them many more years of providing nice accommodations for families. Between the pandemic and FDR's closed home, 2020-21 must have been tough so far for them. If you're in the area, they are much cheaper than any place in Rhinebeck. It's worth supporting them.

Yelp
Charming old fashioned warm and clean , Friendly staff and cute breakfast room set up like a old ice cream parlor with revolving seats, plus tables , highly recommended

Yelp
This is a renovated vintage motor hotel, 2 stories high with rooms in a strip. My mother and I stayed here from June 28-July 1 in a double room on the ground floor. I can't praise this business enough. The room was spotless and larger than we expected. My mother commented that even she couldn't clean a room this well. The A/C worked well even though the outdoor high temperatures were in the high 90's. . The bed area was carpeted, but the traffic areas were laminate, allowing for easy mopping. Beds were comfortable and each had 3 pillows of varying firmness. The room is decorated in a neutral, but not boring, style. The bathroom is all tiled with no mildew. The shower is high enough for a tall person. Staff was friendly and pleasant. The breakfast room is cute- like a vintage diner. Breakfast options include coffee, tea, orange juice, donuts, real NY bagels with cream cheese, fresh tangerines and bananas. The sign mentions cereal but I didn't notice. There is a Keurig coffee maker in the room. Rooms are not cleaned every day, but more towels are provided on request. I have found this to be the case with most hotels since Covid.

Yelp
A family run business for the past 50 yrs. Our rooms were large and well cleaned. Such a nice nostalgic treat from the brand name hotels and motels. We appreciated the nicely laid out continental breakfast in the 'coffee house'. We live locally and our power went out, so we sought a local hotel to stay in and the Roosevelt Inn was the perfect choice. The only thing was the cable TV was a little spotty. Not sure if that was normal or because of storms passing through the area. Would definitely recommend the Inn and would stay there again.

Yelp
Recently, I stayed at the Roosevelt Inn and really enjoyed our stay. I have found it difficult to find a relatively affordable hotel within short distance to all of the mansions and sightseeing activities in Rhinebeck/Hyde Park/ Clermont....and the Roosevelt Inn provided us with a great option. We opted to stay in the economy room (Rustic Room). I'm a big stickler for CLEANLINESS (something the last motel/inn that we stayed at didn't have). The room was tiny but cozy and clean. The bathroom was actually bigger than I expected and was made even nicer because it had a window that allowed natural light in. Other perks of staying here: -Complimentary breakfast in the cafe as well as free hot chocolate, snacks, tea and coffee anytime (which you are issued a separate key for 24-hour access) -Complimentary Wi-Fi (which is great for those of us who work from home or who are Internet addicts!) -Extremely friendly staff! The only downside to staying here for us was the fact that the bed in the Rustic Room was extremely uncomfortable (a little too hard and too bouncy). **It should be noted that as I type this, I was informed that the beds/mattresses were replaced in the "Deluxe Rooms," so your experience if you stay in those rooms may be different where sleeping is involved. Another downside was the water pressure coming out of the shower head. Again, I'm just really picky and would've preferred some sort of knob thing so that I could change the way the water was coming out from a sort of mist-mode to something that hit me with a bit more pressure. Regarding the rooms, the walls are SUPER THIN. I was laying in bed watching television and could hear our neighbor next door "using the bathroom". I could also hear every word that he was saying to whomever he was staying with (so, you may want to keep the noise levels tuned down to a whisper...haha) Also, the Wi-Fi was a little sketchy at times, and we actually had to connect to a random unsecured wireless network in the area. I know that the list of "complaints" may sound like a bit much, but the overall experience staying here really wasn't bad at all. For around $80/night, we felt like we got a pretty good deal. Additionally, the location is great. If you stay at the RI, you are within easy walking distance to the Vanderbilt property, where you can take the pedestrian foot path all the way around the property and loop back to the FDR property down the road (a total of 5.5 miles or so, starting from the hotel). We would definitely stay here again:)

Yelp
I stayed here for 2 Days in a "Rustic"Room. Absolutely BEST stay I've had in a while. Forget the chains, STAY HERE.

Yelp
Because of their free wi-fi, I'm writing this from my room, which is clean, quiet, and only cost $100. My husband and I took a spontaneous vacation to Hyde Park and I called this Inn on the way up, because I'd read good reviews on Trip Adviser. We were lucky they'd had a cancellation. I've found everything the reviews say is true: friendly, well-maintained, comfortable. It has a vintage feel without any creepy motel atmosphere. And when you check in they give you a key to their 24-hour coffee shop which is stocked with tea, coffee, water, newspapers, etc. I'm fussy about hotels, but this place is actually cleaner than some expensive places I've stayed in. It's not perfect, but you can tell it's well-cared for by the family that lives in the house on the property. No need to spend any more for a good place to stay up in these parts. I'd stay here again for sure.

Yelp
My recent two night stay here has moved me from a general state of apathy regarding writing online reviews to the creation of a shiny new Yelp account. The generous two stars are for the previous, problem-free trips. After this weekend, never again. 1. The room was booked about a year in advance. We arrived to find the hotel had screwed up our reservation so instead of two beds, we had one bed and a cot. The owner was gracious enough to both blame us and not "charge extra" for this mistake (apparently the 1br and cots are a tad more). I was humbled by this great show of generosity. 1a. That cot is the most uncomfortable thing I have ever slept on and I once spent the night on a ping pong table. 2. No eating. Yes, no eating anything in the rooms. There were signs and we were told verbally. I have stayed in hotels all over the world from skeezy to swanky and I have never seen a room where you couldn't consume food. So, even though there is a mini fridge in your room, food is verboten. 3. No congregating. No moving chairs. My group has been coming here for at least ten years to attend NY Sheep and Wool (though I am a newer addition). Normally we take up 3-4 rooms. In the evenings we tend to gather in a room, have some snacks and a glass of wine, chat, and disperse before it gets late. Alas, however, the signs told us no. Okay - this one is fair enough, right? We'll go to the kitchen/dining room! About that.... 4. 8 is greater than 25. We congregated in the dining area where there was a max capacity of 25 (this will be important in a moment). There were two other ladies there and people popped in and out a few times. Then the owner shows up and asks us to "condense" because she has a family of seven that wants to come down and eat a pizza. (In case you're playing along at home, 8 + 7 is 15.) We squish in more, make sure there's plenty of space (25-15=10). Owner hovering, saying they have an ant problem (never saw an ant), and makes various other excuses about why we can't eat or do pretty much anything in the rooms. Got the feeling she wanted us to get the heck out and go to our rooms. Family of seven never came down. I'll say a novena for them should they have dared to eat in their rooms. I didn't feel like a guest here. I didn't feel like an inmate. I felt unwelcome and I felt we weren't really treated like grown women who may have wanted to eat a Kit-Kat or something. We found a new hotel before the kitchen thing, but it's sad for us as it's the end of an era. I have many good memories here but will never stay here again.

Yelp
I recently stayed in one of the deluxe rooms and I have never ever seen a cleaner room even compared to high end hotels. This is more than enough to satisfy my lodging requirements, but wait there is more. The shower head/pressure is nicer than the one at home. There is a vanity with a sink outside the bathroom so two people can have access to running water at the same time. While the pillows were too soft for me the mattress was firm and comfortable. The complimentary breakfast was quite good with a lot of variety. Unfortunately they have to replace the water cooler dispenser but the microwave, toaster etc are great. I never heard the other visitors through the walls even though one night there was no vacancy. I will go back at some point to the area and will work my vacation around room availability at this inn.

Yelp
Step back in time to the fifties, this charming motel was perfect. Immaculate and quiet but had everything we needed. Front desk owner was sweet and welcoming. You can't go wrong staying here.

Yelp
This place is better than expected and it has excellent ways of managing Covid. My wife and I stayed here for 2 nights in September 2020 during the Covid pandemic. Prior to the pandemic we travelled on vacation by airplane approx. 4 times a year, but due to Covid we are reduced to taking regional road trips in the car. Normally in the past we chose hotels such as Holiday Inn Express, Hampton Inn, Comfort Inn, etc., usually choosing whichever building appeared to be the newest. But during the pandemic I came up with the idea of choosing a different type of hotel, a "motor inn" where the car pulls right up to the room, meaning there is no elevator to use and no corridors to walk. This seems safer. And in this case, it worked out great, because there was also no registration and no office to visit. I made my reservation over the phone because the hotel's online reservation system did not seem to be up to normal standards. Over the phone the staff took my credit card number and held a deposit. They explained that my room key will be in a realtor lock-box hanging from the doorknob, and they sent me a code to the lock-box by email, a day prior to my visit. Good ideas! Kudos to the management. I was really pleased. Getting into the room was going to be a problem because i didn't know how to handle the realtor lock-box, but as I was wrestling with it, after 30 seconds a voice rang out, telling me how to get the key out ... it was the manager talking to me, peering out from her door. Thanks.. Now I got it. We were pleased with the room. This was our first hotel visit since the pandemic hit, and we started out by spending 15 minutes wiping all the surfaces in the room with our Lysol and paper towels. We brought our own cleaning supplies. The management had already put the TV remote into a clear plastic wrap, but I cleaned the wrap, too. The room was good-sized, and just as good as a Comfort Inn except maybe the bathroom was a tiny bit below that standard because there was little or no storage spaces available in the bathroom to put your toiletry bags. The only other drawback to the room was that it could have used some more color or some more wall art. Everything was beige. But the decor was somewhat classy and was better than expected, and it was nice. The mattresses are very good. My wife commented on getting very good sleep and she really liked the mattress. She was super pleased with the motel. Shortly after arrival I knocked on the manager's door and requested some more decaf coffee for the in-room Keurig. The manager provided it, no problem. The room has a mini fridge that worked well and the heater worked well (wall unit was not too noisy). The TV is very good. There is no microwave in the room. We paid about $104 per night including taxes and fees, and I think this place is a great value for the money. Highly recommended. Now we will take more road trips using motor inns, but the inns might not be as good as the Roosevelt.

Yelp
Stayed at the Roosevelt Inn on multiple occasions in both the regular and deluxe rooms. My family has always enjoyed our stay the hotel. The rooms are comfortable, clean and most importantly affordable. Best part is the complimentary breakfast and free Wi-Fi. If your in the Hyde Park area there is no need to look anywhere else. Stay at the Roosevelt Inn.

Yelp
Great place to stay - 5 stars. Conveniently located to : culinary institute-3 miles away ; also bard performing arts-30 min away. Very Clean, furnished tastefully, air-conditioned and convenient. Healthy simple breakfast too! What more in life do you want from an overnight stay!

Yelp
Great price!! More than fair lodging for the money. I love the café with loads of breakfast items. Quiet and peaceful. Clean tidy rooms. We got more than our moneys worth and I cant wait to stay here again!!

Yelp
Absolutely one of the cleanest and friendliest places we have stayed in. We were there for a week and the owners were accommodating and always willing to please in any way. The room was always clean as was the entire establishment. Complimentary breakfast of cereals, bagels, donuts, fresh fruit, coffee, juice etc was always plentiful and fresh. Will absolutely return and have already told friends and relatives how great the stay was.

Margaret L.

Yelp
Great spot.. very clean and comfortable. Perfect location for all the historical sites and the Culinary Institute (don't miss that!!!).

D. P.

Yelp
It is out of the 50's, no changes since then, dingy, small rooms, small beds. Mattresses are very hard. No heat control in rooms. Room cleaning ends at noon....so no sleeping late or no room cleaning...and if you miss having your room cleaned you have to go pick up your own towels if needed! Staff was rude. The best part was the little coffee shop...it had heat and free bagels and donuts each morning.

Yelp
We had an enjoyable stay at the Roosevelt Inn over the Columbus Day weekend. Offered at a reasonable rate, this quaint inn offered clean and comfortable accommodations. The complimentary breakfast offered in the "coffee shop" was more than adequate and enhances the charm of the inn, allowing guests to interact. Most notably, the staff was professional and polite, diligent in the maintenance and operation of the inn, and worked with us to accommodate a special request for which we were extremely grateful. We would gladly return to the inn and have already recommended it to family and friends for a weekend getaway.

Yelp
'Motels' usually make me nervous. There were not a lot of places to stay in Hyde Park, but this was the one we chose. I am a tiny bit of picky about hotels. I was so happily surprised at this place. It was clean, the bed was comfortable, the staff was nice, and there were even free donuts and OJ. I was happy to say hi to the little corgi in the lobby when we checked out. Don't be afraid of this motel if you happen to be in Hyde Park.

Yelp
My wife and I traveled to Poughkeepsie. We were looking for a motel away from the Poughkeepsie area. My sister in law recommend this inn. We stayed in the second floor room with the king bed. The bed was comfortable. It is a nice large room. There is a sink in the room as well as in the bathroom. Very clean. The tv had plenty of channels to watch. The wi-fi worked great. The heater worked great and was quiet. It heated the room quickly. We turned in off and went sleep. In the morning the room was still warm (It was 28 degrees that morning). As in the other reviews there is an area with coffee and breakfast. It has a 24 hour access with the room key. Continental breakfast is from 7 - 10 am. The rest of the time you can have popcorn and a hot beverage. The woman who checked us in was very, very nice. When you walked into the office it had a pleasant odor. That's how I knew it was a nice place to stay. If in the area we would stay here again. The cost was about $125.00. We stayed Friday November 10.

Yelp
We stayed at the Inn last summer in August. It was everything we had expected . Clean, neat, and quaint. This Family definitely takes Pride in their place. Just knowing that makes you feel more comfortable as you stay there and rest while also touring the beautiful and historical places around. Also loved going for my coffee in the morning, and chatting with other guests....

Yelp
I booked a room at this place for my Mom after hearing such good things about it. I too live in Hyde Park and asked around as to where she could stay. My apartment was out due to the stairs and lack of ac. She was thrilled with the accommodations and the kindness of the staff. Is this the most over the top elegant place you will ever visit? No, but this is the most charming and clean place you will ever get in the area.

Elizabeth S.

Yelp
This was such a treat! Clean and tidy place....we stayed in the rustic room which is small but we found it very cozy. The family takes great care of this place very well. We would definitely stay there again. The staff was helpful and very knowledgeable about the area. Minnie the corgi dog was friendly and cute too!!

Yelp
Pleasant staff and rooms in a beautiful area. Perfect place for a spontaneous 2 day trip. Thank you so much for the service

Rob S.

Yelp
This was a perfectly pleasant and affordable hotel for our three day, two night visit to Hyde Park. Safe, clean, and centrally located, the Roosevelt Inn offered good parking and easy access to our small rustic room. The bed was firm, the shower was hot and and forceful, the air conditioning comfortably cool, and the television and wifi were free. It's location was perfect: The FDR historic sites are one mile down the road, the incredible Eveready Diner is nearby, the Culinary Institute of America and Marist College a bit further south, the spectacular Vanderbilt Mansion and St. James Episcopal Church just up the road and delightful Rhinbeck, NY, only 10 miles up Route 9. If you want a resplendent hotel go elsewhere. But it you want an inexpensive, spotless, friendly, affordable place to rest while visiting Hyde Park then go to the Roosevelt Inn.

Nelson H.

Yelp
Well, we were looking for a place to stay at the end of the day and all that was left were the "rustic" rooms. Maybe the newer rooms are more up to more modern standards, but this room was decidedly dated. Our neighbors in the next unit sat on their bed and our wall shook. The woman's voice came through the wall. Altogether not very private or conducive to a good night's sleep.

Cathy C.

Yelp
I booked a room online and arrived a half hour after check in time. Our room was in the older part of the hotel. I liked the rustic look of knotty pine walls. The room was very clean and the bathroom spotless. The continental Breakfast in the adorable old time coffee shop was thoughtfully laid out with great choices. The guests drifted in a few at a time and sat at the tables reading the newspapers provided. Very homey and pride in ownership is evident.
