ROOST Cleveland (Cleveland, Ohio) 3 Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"Philadelphia’s ROOST hotels have been, until now, a local curiosity, taking the typically boring genre of extended-stay hotels and applying a high-design sensibility and a boutique-hotel philosophy. ROOST Cleveland sets up shop on three floors of the May Company Building, a 1915 department store that’s now a residential development. And for a taste of Cleveland apartment life, you could certainly do a lot worse than this — these clean-lined, loft-style apartments are as attractive as any hotel rooms in town." - Tablet Hotels

Overall, a great experience for a short trip to Cleveland. Roost was located right next to the House of Blues and a bunch of cute restaurants/eateries, and in walking distance to the Rock Hall and lakefront as well as sports arenas. While downtown in general has a bit of an abandoned feeling, this particular location is a bright spot. The staff were as accommodating as they could be, checking me in early and upgrading my room without my asking for it, and stashing my belongings after I checked out so I didn't have to carry them around all day before heading to the airport. The building is very secure, and the 2 bed/2 ba apt was gorgeous with high ceilings and huge windows, big comfy beds, huge tvs, a full kitchen, in-room laundry, etc., etc. Having roof access was also really nice! I didn't take advantage of all the amenities, such as their bike share or fitness and atrium spaces, but it was nice to know they were there. And it's pet friendly! Absolutely no complaints, though there was a small housekeeping/plumbing issue when I checked in (not gross, just some soapy water that got out of hand), which did not affect my stay.

We enjoyed our stay at Roost. Inside the apartments were clean and comfortable. We had everything we needed and a nice view of the city. Unfortunately during our stay there was a power outage in the building. The hallways and parking garage was dark and the elevators didn’t work so we needed to use the stairs. However, inside the apartments everything worked fine and the staff was helpful and accommodating. The manager was kind enough to refund 100% of our stay and parking due to the inconveniences. We were very happy and would definitely stay here again!

I found the parking to be difficult, but very secure and my equipment in my car was very safe. The front desk staff was amazingly helpful, and friendly. The room itself was breath-taking. Absolutely wonderful experience to stay in that apartment. I slept incredibly well.

Wonderful Stay at The Roost Hotel – Perfect for Families! My family and I travel often, and The Roost Hotel has easily become one of our favorite places to stay. From the moment we arrived, Marshay and Ya Ya made us feel so welcome with their kindness and warm hospitality. The reception was friendly, and the check-in process was smooth. We stayed in a two-bedroom unit, and it was absolutely perfect for our needs. The rooms were spacious, dark, and cool—just right for a restful night’s sleep. The beds were firm and comfortable, and the darkness of the rooms helped us all get the rest we needed. The kitchen, with its huge windows, was another highlight—bright and airy, perfect for starting the day. We also enjoyed the stylish and comfortable common areas, which were great for relaxing or sipping coffee. The gym was a big plus—well-equipped and perfect for a full workout. It had everything we needed to stay active during our stay. This place is especially ideal for families with kids. We highly recommend The Roost Hotel and will definitely be returning!

The location was great. The view from the room was spectacular. The room was large. There is plenty of space, and the room was mostly clean, except for an unknown black substance on the bathroom floor. ||One bed was missing a sheet.||Wifi was out on the last day—no TV or phone service.||The coffee grinder did not work.||The AC worked well.

OMG, I'm gonna have a problem ever staying at a regular hotel after two nights at Roost. It was so amazing. The room is huge - a nice bedroom with a huge walk-in closet, a separate office room, washing machine and dryer in the unit, a beautifully fully stocked kitchen in which I could have cooked anything, a kitchen island with space for three to eat, a large living room with a huge TV, and a city view to boot. You know when you look at pictures of hotel rooms when you're doing a search and they look really nice and then you get there it looks like crap? I was thinking this was going to be like that but it was exactly the opposite. Was far better than I expected and the best part was it was actually less expensive to some of the better hotels in the area. The building also has a beautiful workout gym, a family community room, patio on the top floor which I never got to and it's two blocks away from the basketball arena and three blocks away from the baseball stadium. If you're there for the NFL or the Rock and Roll Hall of fame, it's a 15-minute walk. It's less than a block away from a street with all the chic and cool restaurants and the House of Blues, for people coming out of the local stadiums and arenas after events. Parking is kind of interesting, especially when you go in and out of the building, but it's very safe and very convenient once you figure it out. Finally, the staff is so friendly and accommodating - they walked me to my room because I never would have found it without somebody giving me directions and when I forgot my key and was locked out of the building, they worked very quickly and efficiently to get me another one. The building is very safe and secure and the surrounding areas are really nice. I felt very safe at night walking in and out of the building and in the morning walking out to get coffee. The units are a mix of short hotel stays like mine which are brief and people who live there more permanently, so it's kind of a combination of an apartment building with really nice rooms that people rent on a long-term basis and for rooms that are vacant, they rent them out as a hotel for people in town for short stays, like me. Don't ever stay at a regular hotel again!

Lots to recommend: great location overlooking Public Square. Big windows in living area; lots of light. the living room couch is comfy, the TV and internet work. ||Big drawback: no windows in bedrooms feels like a fire trap. Cleveland requires bedrooms to have windows by law, but the concierge explained that was waived for this building because it is "historic"? Yet the developers installed an interior atrium so the upper floors all have windows and light. No fire extinguisher in unit.||The dishwasher had a couple of inches of standing water in it. I called engineering and they said it worked. I washed dishes by hand.|The dryer left clothes quite damp. I called engineering and they said that is the way it works! I draped sheets, towels and clothing on closet rod to air dry.||The kitchen is advertised as fully equipped. Things I expected but they did not have: scissors, sharp knives, a whisk, a spatula, a cheese grater, metal strainer or colander. There was exactly one pot and one pan. One large bowl and one small bowl. |Things I purchased: A drip coffee maker, electric water kettle, all the items above, cereal bowls, coffee mugs, windex, dish soap.||The main issue I think is management. The apartment clearly had not been inspected prior to our arrival. The floor was filthy, I spilled some water and when I wiped it up with a paper towel it was black. The TV cables were unplugged from the wall and the screen. The dryer lint screen was full. The interior dryer lint compartment looked like it had never been cleaned, it had about 3" of gunk caked on. ||A big issue is the laundry. The resident laundry room smells vile, and even if the machines were clean they run on coins! Really, who has quarters? ROOST provides clean linens once a week. I asked for sheets and pillowcases, so I could make the bed up myself. When I unfolded the "clean" sheets they were very damp, and smelled moldy. I put a "fresh" pillowcase on a pillow and when I plumped it up a cloud of white dust billowed up from the fabric. Needless to say I took it right off. So, I had to launder the sheets in the stack unit. Not impossible, but you have to do 1-2 pieces at a time and the cycle takes about 2 hours & air dry in closet, which takes a couple of hours||Overall the concept is great, they started with a good design and some quality items (All Clad pans and Bosch washer/dryer) but upkeep is dismal. The pans were put away dirty, the dishwasher, washer and dryer filters had seemingly never been cleaned. The shelves and drawer bottoms were dirty. The glass table needed wiping and most of all the floor. So dirty, even an hour after housekeeping cleaned it. I suspect it has never been mopped? The white gunk on the table lamp had never been cleaned off. Things like this might just be a training/management issue?

In the old May department store building. What a fabulous conversion. High class and attention to detail. The apartments are huge. Two sections Prospect Avenue and Euclid Avenue. Initial check in was at Prospect, but then you can use the other entrance on Euclid with key card. Easy from airport train into Tower City on the red line. Very safe for us. Overlooked Sailors and Soldiers in Public Square. There is street noise, but the separate bedrooms are super quiet. Would stay again here or at any Roost in a heartbeat.

Yelp
We stayed for 16 days. It has a lot to recommend it. Great location, overlooking public square. Big windows in living area; lots of light! Very quiet bedrooms, but they lack windows. Seems like a fire hazard? Kitchen not fully equipped; we had to purchase many items including sharp knives, a whisk, spatula, mixing spoon, electric kettle, drip coffee maker, cereal bowls, coffee mugs, cheese grater, measuring spoon. Only has one pot and one pan. weekly housekeeping minimal. Left floors filthy, made beds with damp sheets. The stack unit and dishwasher lint traps were full; dishwasher never did work properly. good security, well lit public spaces and easy parking, though not included. Pricey for the amount of problems we encountered. $5800

Yelp
Top notch hotel in the Downtown area, in the renovated May Company building. We had a two bedroom two bath suite. Everything is new, well stocked. Bring ground coffee, they have a drip machine but very little coffee for a three day stay. There is no housekeeping services for stays less than seven days. Managers on duty react quickly to requests. Onsite parking at an extra charge. Well located, we walked to the lake and the Rock Hall. There are also apartments in the building.

Yelp
Perfect accommodations, amenities and the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Our room looked and felt like a well - equipped, modern apartment. The Roost beats any hotel stay. I will most definitely stay here whenever I'm in Cleveland.

Yelp
Really nice hotel with an "apartment" style feel. Good size rooms, comfy beds and nice amenities. We stayed there during the NCAA basketball tournament and this place is right near the arenas and the Casino. The elevators were malfunctioning throughout our trip, which was the only knock against this wonderful place.

Yelp
A shady part of town after dark, this place has no front desk staff to speak with after a certain hour. There was no power in the building so lights, room phones, WiFi, air, elevators, refrigerators, etc. we're non operational during a holiday weekend. Needed to call EMS at one point in our stay and I had to take the elevator down to the main floor because EMS couldn't not figure out how to get to my room with the help of the front desk. Housekeeping was not great when it was scheduled correctly. I wouldn't stay here again.

Yelp
2 stays for family Cleveland Clinic visits. 3 week and 2 week lengths. Indoor parking with 3 door entry security and solid security within with condo door strength. Quiet and isolated other than motorcycle traffic echoing through downtown. Condos on Ballpark and Downtown Square side. Outside after dark probably good idea with company. I worked Chicago area Law Enforcement for 40 years so I was comfortable. Right by Jacob's Field and Basketball arena. Comfy beds where you hear no noise and kitchen so nice I was afraid to cook. Great laundry units in condo. It made the long stay tolerable. Park on lower floors and take elevator up. My Truck was a little large for garage pillars. Glad the Roost was available.

Yelp
Place is amazing. Staff great too. So pretty inside. If you are staying downtown Cleveland you gotta try it out. Super safe too. Thanks for the everything!

Yelp
This former Clevelander came back for the holidays and was admittedly feeling homesick. A hotel in the former May Co.? I'm in! But this place totally exceeded all expectations. Terrific apartment, well appointed. Great view! A complete kitchen and a closet laundry with great equipment n quality appliances. Bedroom was tucked into the apartment so, although we were across the street from the casino, we slept soundly. Terrific location , central to the entertainment districts and anything you might want/need. (People: if you have never been to CLE, you are gonna throw DOWN! Soooo many good eats. Ideas for foodies: West Side Market n Gust Gallucci's -- GOTTA GO!!) Helpful staff. Secure parking, AND you park on the same floor that you stay on, so you are literally steps away from your vehicle. We can't wait for our next trip back home - and we will definitely stay at Roost!!

Yelp
Why stay anywhere else in Cleveland?! This place is amazing. Beautifully decorated, super comfortable and spacious! Everything you need - to include coffee grinder with small container of coffee beans! Beds and bedding are divine. Great location!!! Highly recommend. Way better than a hotel!

Yelp
This Place is weak on security and didn't make me feel safe,
