Really loved this place! I did not know what I expected in this small town at the base of the blue ridge parkway but they really delivered! The wine list, the cocktails, the beers on draft! Tried all three and loved each one I tried! Thai basil and cilantro with Roku gin? Yum! And so many great beers to try!! Plus they do half pours for wine and beer — thank you!! My salad was sooo good! The pizza too! Just go! You will love it! We had just finished driving the parkway and hiking and I was worried I wouldn’t be dressed nicely enough but they are casual while still feeling upscale. Super friendly and great service!

September 19,2025 Root & Vine is such a standout spot in downtown Morganton! From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere felt warm and inviting, with just the right mix of energy and comfort. The food was absolutely fantastic—the chicken tacos were perfectly seasoned and fresh. To go with it, the strawberry lemonade martini was refreshing and creative, the perfect balance of sweet and tart. What really made the meal special was the service. Our waitress, Madii, was a true superstar—attentive, fun, knowledgeable about the menu, and genuinely friendly. She made excellent recommendations and checked in often enough to make us feel cared for. Between the delicious food, creative drinks, and the great vibe, Root & Vine has quickly become my favorite place in Morganton. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a great meal!

Really cute spot on town. We were there toward the end of lunch. Got that zatar chicken. I may not have fully read the description but was surprised to find out it was a sandwich. I would have liked this meal better as a platter. Everything tasted great, I just personally didn't love it as a sandwich. The fries were excellent! Service was ok. They were under staffed it seemed so I'm sure it is better when they have enough people.

This used to be a five star with a bullet based on atmosphere alone. After the move. I really can't recommend it. I've tried multiple times just to make sure it wasn't a fluke experience. It went from the coziest most bestest date night place to a high school cafeteria. I'm sure there were circumstance etc but even with a forced relocation the new layout is just horrid. It's one big open room. Last time we were dining there were tables and chairs being drug around to rearrange the entire time. Which isn't really the backdrop I prefer while eating my $45 dark gray "medium rare" steak. I feel the food has declined since the move. But could honestly just be a result of association with the steep decline of service and atmosphere. We used to try to go atleast once a month. It's an hour and a half ish drive for us. Now we rarely stop even if we're driving by. I'd give it a "meh" out of five. Serious heart breaker.

Went here for a first date. Our waitress Maddy was so sweet and so funny and down to earth. Honestly she made the experience great- I wish more waitresses were sweet like her. We had so much fun and will definitely be back! The food was incredible, we wished we had saved room for dessert, and we can’t wait to come back and try a pizza!

I can’t say enough about what a wonderful experience it was dining at Amy and Brian’s visionary masterpiece! From the moment you walk in you are absolutely delighted by the lovely individuals who greet you, the decor, the service, the positive energetic atmosphere, the delicious foods and drinks, and Amy’s smile. Great dinner & service. Good wine & beer choices. Wedge salad was good. Special soup of fennel, tomato & eggplant was great. Every wood fired pizza I've had before just seemed like a pizza. Theirs changed my mind, the hint of smoke with each bite made this pizza special. The Bourbon bacon brownie was very good. Server was friendly & knowledgeable We will definitely go back.

We went for dinner on a Wednesday evening and the place was surprisingly full. The bartender was impeccable. I don't think he ever stopped moving and checking on everyone. My only complaint was that the kitchen took a while to get our food out, but the appetizers and salads came out quickly and if I returned super hungry I would order a soup or salad before dinner. My salmon was top notch. The skin was crispy and the meat was perfectly cooked. My god mother loved her tomato bisque and fried oysters. The grits an polenta were what everyone at the bar was talking about. Many of the cocktails looked delicious and I can wait to come back sometime when I can try a few. It's a perfect spot for a special occasion or a date night.

My husband and I enjoyed a late dinner at Root and Vine. We had not visited since they moved. That was a mistake because tonight's meal was fantastic! Brandon was an attentive waiter with a great personality and superb service! We will make sure this place is on our rotation!

First time at this restaurant! It was hot outside but a beautiful day! We chose to eat inside. The hostess was very sweet and welcoming! While walking in several diners were walking out saying the food was amazing so that was a great sign. Our server Ryker was amazing. He was very attentive, professional and kind paid attention to all of our request. Recommended some beautiful specials. We ended up choosing the boot Burger as well as the grilled romaine Caesar salad with chicken chicken, I have to tell you that the Caesar dressing was incredible. I can't wait to return and try more dishes.

While passing through Morganton we decided to eat at Root & vine. We had a little trouble finding their new location. Google maps gave accurate directions, but Waze took us to the old location. Our dining experience was worth the extra effort. This new location offers a beautiful open space with nice ambient lighting. They provide a decent wine & beer list. We started with a bottle of Souleil de rouge. We enjoyed the chef's special of the night. It was Salmon on top of spinach quinoa with a beet salad on top. Everything was prepared perfectly and tasted amazing! Don't let beets scare you! Even dessert was unique. We had a bacon brownie that was very delicious. Service was amazing and friendly.

First time we have dined at Root and Vine since they moved to its current "roomier" location in Morganton. We absolutely loved everything about the new location - atmosphere, wait staff - a special shoutout to "Madi" who was the absolute perfect server! So bubbly and pleasant and even offered to take our photo! The menu was extensive and had so many interesting choices - it was difficult to choose - the wood fired pizza looked so good - but we will save that for next time....and we all devoured what we ordered - trout, crab cakes, ahi seared tuna, wedge salad and a decadent brownie dessert that we all shared! Check this place out - there is also some colorful fun paintings decorating the place and are for sale! Just go! We will definitely be back soon!

Great little gem in Morgantown, NC! We opted for outside dinning because the ambiance was so sweet and it was a perfect night for dinning outside. Our waitress Ivy was the best! Suggested of few things on the menu and made sure we didn't want or wait for anything. Top notch and highly recommend asking to sit in her area! My artichoke pizza might truly have been the best pizza I have ever had, and I'm from NY and am Italian! Just the right amount of ingredients and perfect texture. Great pizza, a good bottle of vino, how can you go wrong! Oh but you can, but they didn't. Perfect in every way!

3.5 stars Really nice people. Great patio. The food is a little hit and miss. The pizzas are great. Some other items were less than stellar. The soup the day was ok. Not great, not bad. The oysters and grits small plate was also ok, but I wouldn't get it again. We actually had to send back a plate of seared ahi, which we felt really bad about, since it's something we basically never do. Sadly, it just smelled very strongly fishy (in a bad way) and tasted way past its best-by date. Honestly, we could barely get one bite down. (I suspect this probably reflects more on the supplier than the restaurant.) In any case, the manager definitely made things right -- went above and beyond, to tell the truth -- which we greatly appreciated. We ended up switching it out for a pizza and that was actually really tasty. The tiramisu dessert was also excellent! Again, the staff were all incredibly nice, especially the gal running the front of house. So, if we are ever in town, we'll likely stop here again for pizzas and drinks on the nice patio. Maybe it was an off day, maybe not, but we'd probably just pass on the other options. YMMV

Food is great service is good ambiance is very calm love the pizza they make and they I'm. It sure if they still have it but the pomegranate margarita is amazing

We had an incredible time at Root & Vine last night. We sat at the bar and had amazing drinks. I had the cranberry martini and my husband had a margarita. The food was sooooo good. Oysters and crab cakes for appetizers and then the rossa pizza and the ribeye. We loved all of it. Service was spot on and everyone that works there was so nice. Wonderful restaurant!

Super enjoyable experience! We came on a Thurs night around 6PM and were able to get seated right away. They have an extensive selection of beers which was a big plus for this guy. We started out with an appetizer ($12) the server said was a "special"....a hummus with an olive accent along with a seasoned pizza style pita....it was fantastic! My bride ordered the Veralosso Salmon ($30) and I ordered the Mahi ($29). We both really enjoyed our selections and the sides....especially the curry with the Mahi! Each of us thought the our fish was a little overcooked....so that is an area of opportunity - but still thought our meal was fantastic. Our service from Crosby was outstanding! If I owned a restaurant, I would hire ten of her!

We decided to try this restaurant as we were in Morganton for a Christmas concert. The food was excellent and everyone was pleased with their dish. I had salmon with grilled Brussels sprouts and polenta . Needless to say, I cleaned my plate. We all had appetizers and dessert. The cocktail list was interesting, and the restaurant has a wide range of beers and wines. Ambiance was very modern and beautiful. The waitress was attentive and helpful with food selections. This restaurant is definitely on my to go list!

Service and food were amazing!! Great spot for dinner in Morganton! Salmon was delish and Mushroom Créme was awesome!!

This restaurant is conveniently located in the downtown area, and was easy to find as we traveled. We were told there would be a 25-30 minute wait for lunch. We were seated within that time. Please note that they are Very Adamant about mask wearing. It's the mask version of, "no shirt, no shoes, no service." We decided to go ahead, because of the excellent reviews. We had originally planned to get a grilled Romaine salad (oh, how I wish we had!), but the cheeseburger I ordered came with a side, and the side salad was the only one I could eat, due to sensitivities. We were both enjoying our meals, and right near the end of the meal, our waitress came by to check on our satisfaction. We told her we were very happy. Then, just after she left our table, the bottom fell out of our experience, as I scooped a bite of salad from the plate and saw "a line" across my plate, under the salad. When I pushed it with my fork, I saw that it was a hair. As the waitress seemed to be looking directly at me, I waved at her. Another lady standing with her, who turned out to be a manager, came to our table. I told her about the hair. She seemed to be unconcerned, stating that the hair looked red, and she didn't know who it could have come from. Maybe she didn't believe me, and thought I planted the hair? I don't know. I wish I'd taken a pic of the hair; it looked brown to me. Anyway, she said she would discount my meal. When the bill came, she had discounted my meal by $3. The food was delicious, but, as you can understand, our experience was definitely less than satisfactory.

Food is never a disappointment! Not sure I love the atmosphere of the new location, has a cafeteria vibe being all open and the ceilings painted terracotta colored, the don't disappear as a dark color would. Service was great as well, with the waitress speaking to us rather than at us. ( can't recall her name but it started with a B )

Went here for my son's graduation dinner . The new location has a lot more room and the food and service were great .

It's hard to review Root & Vine, it use to be one of my all time favorite places. We would always come for lunch and they would have this smokey pasta with salmon that is one of the best things I've ever eaten. However they are rarely open and at some point they stopped doing lunch also. So now they are only open like 4 days for dinner only. We have been a few times for dinner and it's still good, but not as good as many of the items we've had when they did lunch. It's also a lot more expensive for dinner. Last time we came I recall I had a steak that was ok. Just the way it was cooked, maybe the cut and seasoning, didn't do much for me. It wasn't bad, but for the price I've had much better steaks and given some of the amazing things we've had here I feel they could have done much better. My girlfriend had a fish dish (not the trout) and it was very good. Even the rice had great flavor. Service is hit or miss, sometimes it's good, sometimes it's very slow. Which means they miss out on sales of more drinks. I'm not sure if it's staffing issues or what. Anyways this place was 5+ when we first found it and they opened for lunch. Since then i feel the quality has suffered some. It's still good and we will probably come back, though not as often with no lunch.

Girls Night Out with the Girls! We were at Lake James for a weekend! We decided one night to go out to Morganton to have dinner and it was absolutely splendid. Our waiter, Ryder, was great. He greeted us very nicely and served us very quickly. He got all of our orders perfectly without one incident. For dessert, he even ran --literally ran-- to get us the last slice of key lime pie (unfortunately he was too late). But Ryder was absolutely fabulous. The food was also fantastic. I got the wedge salad and it was one of the best salads I have had. The blue cheese dressing adds the perfect savory to the crisp lettuce along with the tender bacon. The blueberry cheesecake was also delicious. The lemon curd add the perfect sour to the sweet. The outdoor ambiance was peaceful and clean. It has a rustic feel along with a pretty garden vibe. Overall a great experience. I highly recommend this place to anyone in the Morganton area. Good luck at UNC at Wilmington, Ryder!

This place should have closed down instead of relocating. I made a graduation reservation 8 weeks in advance. Called back to reconfirm 6 weeks later as they were evicted from their last location... The owner insisted I must have called another restaurant (I know who I called) because they don't take reservations and wouldn't accommodate their hostess's mistake by honoring the one she took. By the way, I called this restaurant three times over the last three weeks to reconfirm the reservation, and they didn't bother to return my any of my calls during their move. This wasted my time and ruined any chances of me finding another venue on such short notice. I hope business dries up for this place... piss poor management and customer service

This is not a review I'll on the menu as we left before setting a morsel. The service was, perhaps, the worst I've ever experienced. After sitting for more than forty-five minutes with not even a drink, we left. Only other comment is the room is very noisy and spartan. There are much better alternatives. Never again.

When I reviewed the menu and previous reviews I was really excited to give this place a shot. It's also really cozyvqnd inviting with a rustic modern vibe. Unfortunately, it was average at best and overpriced. I ordered the chicken with the risotto and broccolini. It was $29. Nope. The chicken was dry and underseasoned. The risotto had a slight smokey taste, but otherwise unremarkable and there were 4 slim stalks of charred broccolini and 4 random cooked until they dried button mushrooms. Even though I was at the bar I couldn't get anyone's attention because there was a whiney man at the end of the bar. The guy on the other side of me also sent his pizza back because all of the toppings fell off. I was exhausted and hungry since I was traveling back from a road trip. I would have sent mine back as well, but it took me nearly a half hour to get my meal. I would not return.

So good! When searching for a lunch spot this place clearly ended up at the top of the list. The line out front as we approached told us we made a good decision. We wanted to try a little of everything and I think we accomplished a lot. Hot Fried Chicken - delicious! It's not a classic flavor because it has a serious Spanish paprika flavor. It made me think of a paella or real Spanish chorizo, so freakin' good. The chicken was huge and still juicy inside. The fries were super crispy which I loved but my husband wasn't as excited. Short Rib Pasta - I'm not exactly sure what it was called but it was really good. The pasta was fresh and the sauce was really good but heavy from the short ribs. The portion seemed small but after all the flavor it was perfect. Pizza - we went with a classic margarita pizza. The crust was perfect with great color and crispness. Nice touches of basil with the mozzarella and of course that really good olive oil makes a good pizza a great pizza. Props to the team for always wearing masks and being thoughtful during the pandemic. I can't wait to get back.

Once again, a great experience ! This time I had trout and fiancé had a ribeye. The food was very tasty including the oysters for our appetizer. Weather was nice so we sat out on the patio. Our waitress, Madison, was very attentive to us and other tables.

Excellent experience . Great ambience, presentation, price point and service. The duck was near perfect, the Pinot a perfect pairing. I highly recommend Root and Vine for a sumptuous repast . Bravo

Had a very delicious date night at this indoor/outdoor restaurant in Morganton. Definitely has great ambiance between the running waterfall and the hanging lights outside. We started the meal with cocktails. I got a blackberry bulleit martini (Bulleit Rye whiskey, Barritts ginger beer, honey, muddled blackberries, mint, and lime juice). One of the best cocktails Ive ever had, and I came from the triangle to Morganton, so I know a few cocktail bars (Virgil and STIR being my two favorites there) For supper, they were sadly out of the wild striped bass meal I wanted, but offered flounder as a replacement. It was delicious and quite filling with Charleston gold rice, asparagus, and apple-jalapeño slaw. Very happy with our decision to come here and looking forward to a visit again. One thing I'll say is that the walk from inside to outside the restaurant is quite harrowing. Lots of steps to trip over between what seemed to originally be 3 different business with different floor levels that have combined into one restaurant space. The wait staff is quite talented being able to navigate between those steps while carrying trays through the customers

Pizza is off the chain. Wine list is pretty good too and ambien is way above what I expected.

The aesthetics of the outdoor environment was great on the previous location, but the food was a bit pricy and the portion was smaller than expected.

So, Root & Vine is so good we've eaten here four times, and we've only been to/in Morganton a total of 36 hours. We've come to Morganton twice just to get away and get a little elevation during the pandemic. This place is one of the reasons we came back a second time. The pizzas are to die for. I know, I know, you can get pizza anywhere, but the wood burning oven and the toppings they choose are unique and amazing. We've gotten the one with hot cappy, artichokes and mushrooms twice. The clam pizza is amazing too. So different. Like a bight of the ocean. We've also had the Margherita, and the steak and arugula micro green pizza which was also yummy, but the hot cappy one is the star. We've gone to brunch twice too (the second time having our folks meet us on their way back from Blowing Rock.) Yes, this place is that good. Both trips to Morganton we've eaten dinner here and then woke up and went back for more. Shrimp and grits are one of those southern staples that I order out rarely since I never believe that it can compete with mine, my moms, or my late aunt's (hers were the best in history). Root & Vine's shrimp and grits are some of the best I've had at a restaurant. I could drink that country ham gravy. My wife had the chicken and waffles the first time we went to brunch. They were good, but put up next to my shrimp and grits there was no contest. Second brunch, I had the burger. It was amazing. So many times I've ordered a brunch burger and either the egg or the burger gets over cooked. Not here. Medium burger and over medium egg was just amazing. Wife had the poutine with that gravy I just mentioned. Holy cholesterol batman, but was it good. Mom got the crab open face and didn't love it, but that may have been because she tried ours. Dad had the Margherita pizza and it was as good and mom ate half of it, so that may have had something to do with it. I wish this place was in my home town. I'd eat there every day. The service is top notch as is their attention to safety during the pandemic. They were also very kind to our dog that came with us all four times. This place should be famous!!!

This one is hard for me. Our first visit, for lunch...the food was great ya'll. We fully enjoyed our meals. My sandwich had just the right portion of pulled pork and ham...slightly lacking on the delicious sauce, but still amazing. The crab cakes are pricey, and ours were slightly burnt, but...they were still amazing. Light, fluffy, filled with crab rather than breading...super yum. And the sauce theyre decorated with is so yummy. Gotts say, the house dressing that came on my salad was a disappointment; very little flavor. Overall, we were really happy and looking forward to returning simply to try their brick oven pizza. And so we did...and the pizzas...just fall so short. Both of our pizzas were completely undercooked. I literally had to throw them in the oven to try to save them. Even then the crusts were chewy and the toppings were sadly raw. These are also lacking in flavor...big time. I legit get better pizza, that's not so pricey, from frikkin Papa John's. I had been waiting to try their fried green tomatoes, because they only offer them on their dinner menu. Not worth it. The tomatoes were crunchy, like almost potato chip status, and just so damn bland. There's nothing special, unique, or flavorful about them. Even the breading is boring. Return visit? Ehhh...maybe if I'm craving a sandwich. Otherwise, this place is a hard pass. Prices are high and most of the quality ends up being mediocre or less. Big disappointment.

Service was great. Speed of getting the food was crazy!! It took almost an hour to get our meals. Overpriced for the flavor and amount of food.

This is a very enjoyable restaurant to dine, imbibe, and linger in conversation. Our lunch today on the patio was a very pleasant experience. Deciding on what to order was really difficult as everything looked great. Salads, soups, burgers, sandwiches, wood-fired pizzas, and daily specials make it tough to decide. Everything is excellent so you can't go wrong. Our entire party thoroughly enjoyed their food. Service was very friendly and attentive. The patio allowed us to really enjoy the beautiful day and soak in the ambiance of historic Downtown Morganton. I look forward to my next visit.

Great place to eat. It's a little busy but couldn't have been happier with the food. Great little downtown restaurant. Service was good as well. When we are back in area will eat here again. They don't take reservations so just be prepared for a small wait if going during a weekend busy time. We didn't mind though. Staff was nice and you can order drinks while you wait

Wow! I can not say enough about how delicious this place was. I visited with a coworker for lunch and I was so pleased with not only the food but the service. The salmon was executed perfectly and the lemon sauce on top could be served on its on. The lunch menu offers a variety of fresh and delish items. The quality of food was great with a reasonable price. This place was a pleasant surprise in a small town.

The night after I tried Wisteria, I decided to check out root & vine. Wow, I must say that I had an excellent experience here! The service was outstanding on the night of my visit. It was a Wednesday night and not overly busy but there were other patrons. The staff was very warm & welcoming. The place is cute & cozy. I loved the outdoor patio...it is a great space! Although it is now winter & the patio is closed, it would be an awesome place for outdoor dining in better weather! They had an excellent selection of delicious sounding cocktails and a nice offering of beer & wines as well. I had a tough time deciding what to order because I saw 3 things on the menu that sounded really good to me. I finally ended up telling my server the 3 things that appealed to me and asked which 1 of the 3 she would recommend for me to try on my first visit. She said that her favorite was the chicken served over polenta with the green beans. Which was the first thing that I thought about ordering. This was an excellent choice! The chicken was perfectly seasoned and cooked. It was juicy & tender on the inside and crispy on the outside. The polenta was delish... and green beans were perfectly cooked but not overcooked. Yum, yum, yum!! Compared to my normal haunts in Charlotte and Hilton Head, prices here were very reasonable! I will definitely go back on future trips to Morganton.

I used to think they were awesome until they changed their hours to 5pm and priced us like we lived in Asheville. Come on, Morganton!!! People want to explore downtown on a Saturday afternoon and need a place to eat that isn't KFC.

I've had this one on my "list" for a while. Morganton is one of my favorite towns, and this restaurant is my favorite there. With the beautiful weather this weekend, the kids and I took the 45 minute ride to Morganton to enjoy dining al fresco and swing by Valdese afterwards. We were seated on the patio and was it ever beautiful! So peaceful, and lots to watch and see while we waited on our food. The bonus? They allow dogs on the patio! Not that I have a dog, but I live vicariously through those who do. We ordered the crispy pork rinds for an appetizer. It came with house made pimiento cheese and Valentina hot sauce. So good, the pork rinds were fresh, not too salty. The cheese was tart with a little bite and the hot sauce was perfect with it. I got the gnocchi which was served with a bolognese sauce with house made sausage, topped with mozzarella and parmigiano reggaino. It was pillowy soft, and simply delicious. Honestly, I MIGHT have preferred a lighter sauce but it was still amazing. The salad was fresh and yummy, and had fresh mushrooms! I'm in love! It was served with a breadstick as well, but that was just too extra. My kids both had sandwiches (but LOVED my gnocchi). The cuban and the hot fried chicken sammies. I didn't try either, except the "wickles" from my daughter's sandwich. OMG, where have these been all of my life? She actually took them off, so my son and I devoured them. The fries were good, real, not frozen! The sweet potato chips were my favorite though. Tossed with sugar instead of salt, they were like dessert. I can't wait to go back. It was such a great experience.

Would give the food five stars, but the service was slow, so had to rate this place with a four. We sat outside since the weather was nice that evening. We had the cauliflower hummus, which surprised us with how good it was. Also had a Ar Arcadian mix salad and the wedge salad. All were delicious.

Would have been closer to 5 but a couple things threw me off. Very dark atmosphere. Not just old creepy building which smells of mold and mildew but dark. They chose minimal lighting. We were first in at lunch so you would expect attentive service. Not really. Our sever seemed bored and was minimally adequate. No personality or attempt at connection. The bathroom was atrocious. Remember what I said? First in at lunch. Shameful. Was it even cleaned from night before? We also ate quickly so that wasn't from one day. (See pic). If there's not a pic they removed it and I'll do a YouTube video. I hate fake restaurant reviews. Finger paintings anyone can do priced at 300 plus on the walls. Amusing. Ok food that was had was great. Salmon one notch off coastal fresh. Cooked perfectly. Seasoned perfectly. Potatoes were slightly cold but tasty. Hummus was fresh and absolutely yummy. Can't beat the food. At least they have a great kitchen. Whole rhythm of staff seemed off. Obnoxious children are tolerated which I don't appreciate.

Food is always quality and on point. Nice atmosphere especially on the patio. Great drink selection probably the best in town. Great staff that always go above and beyond. Just wish they were open more often.

I was supposed to be eating a burrito. Mountain Burrito was where I was told to go, but as they were closed (Monday--boo), I Googled some options for nearby eating establishments that were open for lunch. root & vine did NOT disappoint. First of all, the service was STELLAR. Heather helped me decide on my entree and my water glass never got below half-full. The Cheerwine something-or-another burger was outta this WORLD, even without the bun. And the dessert of the bacon bourbon brownie? Served warm with vanilla ice cream and drizzled with chocolate sauce?!? Oh, yeah. Worth every carb calorie consumed. When in Morganton, you can bet I'll be patronizing this beautiful bistro. Especially with outdoor seating by the water feature? Sign me UP. And I'll come HUNGRY.

I ordered the ribeye steak and it didn't come with a baked potato only french fries. I ordered my steak medium and it was more medium well and not marinated at all. I showed it to the manager who stated it was indeed medium and walked away, dismissing me at once. So much for a meal that cost me over $40

Driving through from the Renaissance Festival towards home and stopped here on a whim. It was SO good. I had the brussels sprout salad and crab cakes - yum - and my friend had the chicken entree with pimento cheese grits!! Also got the tiramisu for dessert, at the suggestion of our very handsome waiter

My wife suggested this place while we were visiting the area. She knows I'm always looking for a good pizza. We got a nice table outside on a beautiful night. She started with a cocktail and me a beer. We split a wedge salad which was fantastic. I make arancini and I'm always looking for inspiration so we ordered that. They had a nice crunch on the outside but the inside was pretty unimpressive. Not much texture. You could barely tell it was rice. I encouraged my wife to get the rib eye steak. It was pricy but I again thought maybe we'd get some inspiration. It was nicely cooked and had good flavor but they ruined it for me with a slick of barbecue sauce on top. I could see putting it on the side but who serves a $32 steak with barbeque sauce pre-applied? My pizza had lots of nice char from their fantastic wood burning oven but I thought the topping flavors were a bit overdone. I should have gone margarita. Our server was fantastic and the atmosphere was wonderful. I thought the food fell a bit short given the prices (the steak and arancini in particular) but we had a nice night out.

Come to this restaurant if you are anywhere near Morganton, NC. Scratch made, creative small plates, wood fired pizzas and entrees to die for. We started with the Roasted Cauliflower Hummus with za'atar flatbread and feta. My tastebuds were buzzing with the spice combination. This was my favorite small plate of the night. The Maryland style Crab Cakes Napoleon with a fried green tomato in the middle were delicious! The remorse sauce had a zing! Cornmeal dusted oysters with bacon and pimento grits was too hot for me but my husband said they were crazy good! We eagerly await our Bistecca wood fired pizza. It has wood grilled flank steak, smoked wild mushrooms, red onions, spinach, mozzarella, sea salt and EVOO. Totally worth the wait! Flank steak was so tender and the smoked mushrooms were just enough. We're coming back soon.

Very good food, service, with a unique personality. Got the trout and it delicious. Service was just as good. Brought my son and his fiancé for the first time. We will be back.

We love this place! Kind and attentive staff, and a diverse menu. Wanted to lead with that while I scratch my head in dismay. We brought in a party of 7 to celebrate our daughter's 18th birthday. Food and service were great. Our bill was $226 with the tip. I didn't think much of it when I paid the bill, but this morning I look at the receipt and learned that I was charged for all 3 of the desserts. Really? I spend over $200 and you can't comp my daughter's birthday dessert?

Outstanding!!! Great service, very friendly. Atmosphere was very relaxing. Will definitely be back!
