My experience at Roots was mixed. I had the Açaí Original Bowl – it was okay, but the açaí mix itself was quite bland. However, the gluten-free quinoa granola was a real highlight – exceptionally good and a creative touch! The peanut crunch was also great, but it didn’t pair well with the pomegranate and banana. I’d recommend adding peanut butter instead. The chai latte with pea milk was absolutely delicious! My non-gluten-free friends loved the wide selection of healthy dishes, so for them, it was a great spot. Unfortunately, the staff wasn’t very knowledgeable about gluten-free options, had to look things up, and service was quite slow. The long wait time might have been due to the large crowd, which suggests this place has a loyal following. Overall: A good place for healthy food, but not ideal if you need a wide range of gluten-free options. For non-gluten-free visitors, though, it’s probably a solid choice!

Great salad and lovely menu. I just wish the portion was a bit bigger for the price- BUT I'm new to Zurich so maybe just preference.

We discovered this amazing hidden gem of a place while walking around the Bahnofplatz area in Zurich. The place serves delicious and nutritious vegan food. Service is very friendly too. The place is very casual, so it is perfect for travelers to get a snack or meal. We had avocado toast (unique and delicious sauce), protein berry shake, and espresso. All wonderful! Wish we had the remaining appetite to try their banana bread :)

Amazing food, very tasty! I ordered the peanut tikka masala and I loved it

I had an avocado toast and savoury waffles. Both very tasty, but portions are fairly small, even for Zurich. Taste-wise though - highly recommended!

Oh my YUM. This was a great relaxing brunch location for us on a hot day in Zurich. I had the Avocado toast, cappuccino and a ginger ice tea after. My friend had the weekend pancakes and couldn’t stop talking about how good they were. On top of that the staff was so great. Highly recommend whether you’re vegan or not!

Google
Amazing vegan food. We had an oat milk based Americano. The banana bread is excellent and you must try the Apple vanilla porridge.

On weekends they serve pancakes, which are very nice for vegan ones, and their shakes are great as well.

Yelp
We loved our food here. We grabbed it to go on our way to the airport on our last day in Zurich. They were easy going and accommodating (I had some meal requests that they make happen!). The ingredients were fresh and their menu is different and tasty. We ordered only from the breakfast menu.

Yelp
The restaurant is very bright and modern. I came around prime lunch time and it was so busy! The service was quick, and everything was made to order at the counter. Thankfully, it was nice outside and they had patio seating! The food itself was good, but I think it was a bit pricy for the portion size.

Yelp
Very tasty! Great service. Mellow vibe. Fresh. Medium portions. Small but varied menu. Somewhat pricey.

Yelp
built into a gym so that was interesting but it all felt very healthy which i needed in the moment. my bowl was delicious yet pricey but that's switzerland. i enjoyed

Yelp
Roots is a juicery, coffee shop, and vegan food bar that serves amazing acai bowls. They also have soups, salads, smoothie bowls, bagels, and wraps. It had a very nice vibe. They do offer milk options but most everything else is vegan. When I arrived I was immediately greeted with smiles and a friendly hello. Once I made my way to the front I quickly ordered the wake up juice as I wanted something with oranges. I wanted a breakfast bowl as the Nadia demeso's cashew berry dream sounded quite amazing only they don't begin serving those until 11:30a--I arrived about an hour too soon. I went ahead and ordered the superfood acai bowl. I enjoyed my breakfast--it was electrifying! I really enjoyed the food here. It made eating healthy so fun and easy. I have my eyes on the protein bowl and or the Samarai bowl with Green glow juice. It is also in close proximity to the main train station and ShopVille shopping center. Friendly vibes. They also have brunch specials and nutritional bowls that also served around 11:30a. Stop in if you're in the area.

Yelp
This was my first stop when I got to Zurich. I got here right before lunch at 11 am and I'm happy I did. There was only about 3 other people at the time and when I ordered (I ordered the matcha latte and miso bowl), it came super quickly to my table. At around 11:30 it started getting super busy. I highly recommend this restaurant, everything is plant based and you can have brunch or lunch here. They also have lots of tasty drinks as well!

Yelp
The service was excellent and the employees were very nice. It was my first time coming here and the girl helped me decide what I should take. But as a salad lover, I wish they had more options to choose from but the salad I had was awesome (Samurai Bowl)! In addition to this, I had Matt's Lemonade (Apple, lemon and ginger) You can clearly see and taste the freshness of the ingredients which makes it that much better! It was a bit pricey though... 20chf for a large salad but in my opinion it wasn't so large. They could have filled the bowl more so that I receive my money's worth.

Yelp
I was only in Zurich for a day, and I'm so glad I picked going to Roots for lunch. I got the protein bowl and it was delicious! The tofu in it was a bit salty, but everything else was really tasty!! It's a bit pricey ($23 for the bowl) but the portion size was generous and it filled me up for hours. Definitely recommend. So many things on the menu sound good, wish I had a chance to go back.

Yelp
Best açaí bowl in Zuri. I recommend the superfood açaí bowl from the brunch menu. It's delicious! Fore more tips regarding açaí bowls follow me on IG: https://www.instagram.com/invites/contact/?i=qave42ftsw4a&utm_content=ivx21jx

Yelp
Vegan cafe but serves milk for their coffee lovers. They offer a variety of healthy snacks, meals and protein shakes. we tried the avocado toast and curry bowl. Both were unusual and delicious. Staff spoke fluent English and were very friendly and helpful. There's a gym downstairs and free wifi for use.

Yelp
Açai bowl and juice were quickly ready and good in taste, but friendliness of staff is not overwhelming. Make sure to keep the receipt for the wifi password. Update in March '16: it's too bad they don't have warm bowls on their winter menu. The only warm menu items are soups and a wrap. I came in twice between 11.30 and 12.30, and I find it unnerving to see tables full with students and their laptops who only drink something. Staff should make sure they leave around lunchtime to give the seats to people who actually eat something.

Yelp
This is my favourite place, every dish is fresh and colorful, you feel amazing after being in there! I love every moment spent there... Many people might avoid it just because it's vegan, but they wouldn't even notice, they would be way too satisfied with their food :) I think the prices are completely fair, as you won't find any other place near Zurich that is so nourishing! Also if you fancy some brunch, theirs is the best I've had in Zurich! Full of vibrant healthy food!

Yelp
I went here the first time for an açaí bowl, which was delicious (except they put salted peanuts on top which then gave the açaí smoothie underneath a salty taste so make sure to ask for it without!) The 2nd time I went, I decided to get the skinny bitch smoothie. DISCLAIMER: It did not make me a skinny bitch, it made me a MAD BITCH The "large" size (which was only 500mL) costs $14. My friends and I (mistakenly) trusted Roots and paid the large sum. IT WAS DISGUSTING! The protein powder wasn't mixed it. We could see it floating on top. The taste was chalky and vomit-inducing. We literally couldn't finish and left them on the side of the road, although I doubt even a homeless person would drink that. Would not recommend!

Yelp
Honestly, I never take the time to review places but I have to set the record straight and say Holly M's is wack. This place is delicious, the açaí bowls are everything one could ask for and more (being from LA and an açaí bowl regular, trust me when I say it's ) AND the employees make up the most highly concentrated group of attractive people in one spot. Seriously And on top of it - great service. Props Roots for being my favorite vegan spot in Zurich.

Yelp
Hm I heard and read already a lot about that place while being in L.A. So I knew I want to try it (since it's organic). Staff was friendly. They offer free wifi and it's very close to the main station. It was pretty hot inside and busy, I guess as always. The interior is pretty simple and dark. It felt a little messy (I came here after lunch around 2pm). I got a carrot juice with ginger, which was pretty spicy and pretty expensive too- chf10 (I guess a normal carrot juice would have been chf7, but they charged chf2-3 for the ginger, which is a lot). I know that it's in the middle of Zurich but definitely wouldn't pay chf 13 for a miso soup. Only thing I would like trying would probably be the açai bowl or a salad bowl, or I'd give the cappuccino a try. My first experience wasn't too good, but I'd give them a second chance since they care about their sources and the people were friendly.

Yelp
If you want to pay up to 15CHF for a smoothie too disgusting to drink then this is the Healthfood restaurant for you. This is probably the worst organic/healthfood restaurant in switzerland and that's saying something considering how poor switzerland's food is in relation to price. I have been here twice with friends as we decided to give it another chance. The first time we ordered the Original Açai bowl for 13CHF. With this hefty price we expected to recieve an Açai bowl topped with delicious fruit etc. What we were treated to was an Açai bowl with a tasteless muesli, salted peanuts and pomegranate. The salted peanuts were what really threw us off, leaving us to not be able to finish the Açai smoothie due to the saltiness left in the otherwise average Açai bowl. The most disappointing aspect of the Açai bowl was that the Açai smoothie part itself was sweet, had a great texture and was not too cold at first, but then was ruined by the saltiness of the Peanuts. After having such good expectations of the 'Roots' restaurant right by Hauptbahnhof, and receiving such a poor tasting Açai bowl; we decided to give it another chance and return to order the 'Skinny Bitch' smoothie. After reading the ingredients the smoothie sounded much like the Açai bowl however without the muesli and peanuts, and served like a smoothie. This sounded perfect as the Açai itself was great. DO NOT BE FOOLED. The skinny bitch smoothie will most definitely make you skinny as you will be likely to vomit it to you directly after digesting it. It is not blended properly and has a layer of indigestible and unrecognisable good at the bottom. At the top of the smoothie you are treated with a thick layer of unflavoured protein which leaves you gagging. Please think before you visit Roots- this store seems lovely but you will be served the most unrecognisable and indigestible food/drinks.

Yelp
This place has a very hipster-y vibe; everyone's well-dressed in a hipster way. Even the staff were pretty hipster. Anyway, my friends all felt overdressed while they were here (note: they were wearing regular clothes - as we'd just finished a yoga session, I came in my yoga outfit and felt totally fine - though this may just be the California in me talking). Food was good. I ordered the avocado bagel and was surprised by how delicious it was. Of course, there was quite a bit of salt in it - so that probably helped. I tried my friend's açai bowl and god, was that good. Wouldn't mind coming back to have that again. The Wake Up juice (orange, grapefruit, ginger, lemon) was good too. The prices are pretty steep considering the small portion size, but all in all, not a bad place if you want to grab a quick bite.

Yelp
Amazing food, young trendy crowd who looks for sustainable, healthy and tasty food options - Service was friendly and fast. Will definitely return

Yelp
Super flavorful sandwiches and delicious green smoothies! And the servers were friendly and warm.

Yelp
I love the place - great menu; not the mainstream carrot juice but extremely tasty and creative combinations. Everything is freshly prepared. Salads are fab and you can adjust to your liking. Very authentic and staff that actually cares about the food they prepare. As it is incredibly popular I try to avoid peak times - at lunch it can get increasingly busy. I usually go take-away and the juices last for a couple of days so you can stack up!
