Ropewalk Ocean City

Every time I visit Ropewalk, it’s a 10/10 experience. The food presentation is top-tier — fresh, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. The entrées come out looking like something straight from a high-end coastal restaurant, and they taste even better than they look. The drinks are phenomenal and always hit the spot — especially when you’re sitting outside with that amazing bayside view. The staff here is incredibly friendly, attentive, and genuinely make you feel welcome. Between the service, atmosphere, and quality, this is easily one of Ocean City’s top spots for a chill meal or a drink with friends. Highly recommend Ropewalk to anyone visiting OCMD — great food, great drinks, great people, and unbeatable vibes.

Very spacious area- parking and eating by area. The service was also amazing. The clam chowder was delicious. Tee had stuffed flounder and something like crab cake egg rolls which were very filling. I had to force myself to eat it all- and couldn’t get to the final one 🤣. Our waiter was very friendly and helpful. They have a wide array of food options.

It is a good place, but it is not worth the wait when tables are not available. More space for lunch than for dinner. Indoor and outdoor seating options. Plenty of parking, free lot for clients. They have souvenirs for purchase. Views for the west side of the island. Not the best place around for crabs.

Fun place to go. You can enjoy a nice quiet meal with a view out on the deck or even inside. Or you can enjoy a nice live music entertainment experience outside. There is still a view there too. Great if you have kids since they have a play area with sand for the kids to play. They have corn hole and a tiki like bar outside. Very cool place, reasonably priced, delicious food and exceptional customer service. We visited for lunch on 8.9.25 and our waiter was Josh. Thank you for the service. They have seating for 1 and for groups of basically all sizes! We recommend this place to all friends, family and anyone looking for a fantastic restaurant while vacationing in Ocean City, Md!

Excellent food but took no pictures. Loved the smoked wings and the crab and spinach dip. The deadliest catch boil was delicious. Our server was great and super attentive. Great views of the bay and acoustic guitar while we were eating lunch.

Came for an after party for a Toys for Tots Jeep beach crawl and had the best time!! Food and drinks were amazing! I had the short ribs and they were so good. Spicy Margaritas to die for!

Great beer selection and the food is outstanding. Try their Victory sauce on wings, shrimp, grilled chicken breast. Honestly I think that sauce would be good on a flip flop. They have three bars, two are open air and one inside. Although the inside bar might as well be outside because of the sliding glass doors. They have live music and all sorts of different seating options. This is the part where I get to the kids. There will probably be a lot of them because they have a nice play area and sand, we all know kids love sand. So if you don’t want to hear kids having fun I suggest you sit at the inside bar. Great sunset views as well. Dustin at the bar poured a nice full beer and made sure I had everything I needed.

Food was good. Was suprised when I asked for a side caesar, said they dont do side salads. So heads up for those wondering. Service was good, but we couldnt figure out why there WAS SO MUCH STAFF? So many doing nothing. I ordered a crush, drink was WAY too strong, could only take few sips, couldnt finish. But our server was good and food was good. Atmosphere was good, except the large amount of staff meandering everywhere, just made us feel like rushed or something. Might go back based on food.

A pretty restaurant with Great views and a wonderful menu. There's one day a week where they do buck a shuck for oysters. Service was good the visits we had after Labor Day.

They stopped playing Incubus in the middle of a song to play "God bless the USA" at full volume. It all felt very forced. Place gives off nationalist, creepy vibes. It's hard to explain without coming off ranty but you'll see what I mean, if you ever go. Objectively speaking, the service is fine. Staff is friendly. Outdoor seating is nice with TVs, cover, and some firepits. The food, however, is quite mediocre. The playground is nice to entertain the kids (you can also find playgrounds at Tailchasers, Fishtales, Da Lazy Lizard, Dead Freddies, and Higgins). Out of all the restaurants with a playground, Ropewalk is the worst. Will we be back? Possibly. But only in the situation, where we, as parents, are tired and don't want to cook. We want the kids to be entertained and the other restaurants with a playground have too long of a wait. I will personally order lightly here and actually eat a dinner when the kids are in bed, though.

Stopped by here for the first time on a rainy Sunday afternoon. We thought we'd catch a week 1 NFL game while we waited out the rain, and this place didn't disappoint. The greeter thoughtfully set us up in front of the TV showing the game we were hoping to watch, and our server had cold drinks in our hands quickly. We kept going with appetizers and the bada bing shrimp was good enough, we had to get two. Nice clean place with a great menu!

What started off as a quick dinner after a long drive became our go-to spot for our entire stay in ocean city. We even designated a server who was an absolute cutieeee (Louis). The crab stuffed eggroll app and they wings were our go-to everytime. The restaurant felt homie and had beautiful views of the water and even sunset. I will definitely be back when I travel here again!

We stopped into Ropewalk pretty late in the evening, probably about an hour before closing, so it wasn't busy at all. Honestly, that worked in our favor because it had a laid-back, almost locals-only kind of feel, which was perfect for what we wanted--a relaxing nightcap before calling it a night. The bartender was great. I don't remember his name, but he was friendly, welcoming, and didn't make us feel rushed even though we came in so close to closing. He made some really solid drinks, too. I went with their coconut freeze, and he was kind enough to adjust it for me and make it without lime, which I really appreciated since not every place is that accommodating. It was creamy, tropical, and exactly the kind of drink you want at the beach. My friend tried the red, white, and blue drink that came with a firecracker popsicle--super fun presentation and surprisingly really good. Definitely the kind of cocktail that makes you feel like you're on vacation. We didn't get to try the food since the kitchen had already closed by the time we got there, but that was our own fault for coming in so late. From the look of the menu, though, there are definitely things I want to come back for. Ropewalk has the kind of atmosphere that makes you want to spend a little more time there, whether you're eating, drinking, or both. All in all, it ended up being a perfect spot for a late-night drink, and I'm already looking forward to going back earlier in the evening so we can give the food a try. Based on the drinks and service alone, it's worth a visit

Good service, our waitress was very friendly. The food was pretty good. I ordered crab egg rolls which were very tasty with fresh crab. I recommend them. I also ordered the redrock fish tacos which tasted okay. I think that the small amount of fish and toppings with subpar fries did not measure up to its price. The view outside was wonderful.. Overall, it's a nice restaurant to go to when visiting.

Fresh seafood is everythinnggg!!! Everything about my experience was great! I came with a group of 9, and was sat within 15 minutes without a reservation (we called earlier and they said there were no reservations available for that day but to come around 8pm) our server was super friendly! I ordered the Bayou Steam Pot and it was delicious!!! And great size! Vibes wee vibing. Would def go again !

Service: ok. The server was friendly and informative but the restaurant is empty and we asked for different table, and was declined with the reason of rsvp. It's hard to believe as it's 8:45 when we got there. Food: bada bing shrimp is a must try. So flavorful and plenty of shrimp compared with price. Crab egg rolls is also delicious with lots of crab meat. Crab chowder is tasteful as well. I was full after appetizers and could not try their main dishes. Maybe next time Ambient: it's a bit loud, compared with small customers, big place with plenty of rooms between tables Price : reasonable Overall: it is great, won't mind coming back

We stopped bu Ropewak in OC for lunch during our Fourth of July getaway. The atmosphere was fun and festive, and the food was a mix of hits and misses. I had the crab cake, and it was really good-definitely the highlight of my meal! We also ordered the calamari, which was tasty, and I enjoyed a mango margarita that was refreshing and delicious. My daughter had the shrimp o, which unfortunately she didn't like. We also tried the fish bowl slushee made with grape juice-great in theory but not so great in taste. We ended up tossing it after just one sip. Customer service was ok, but honestly could have been better. Nothing major, just not as attentive or warm as we hoped for, especially during a busy holiday weekend. All in all, a decent spot with great views and some standout menu items-just a few things that could've made it a more consistent experience.

My daughter and I both threw up after eating the crab/artichoke dip last night. Im still sweating it out.

This place is great. We have come every year for the last 5 on vacation. Great kids menu, great playground while you wait. Quick and good drinks at the bar. Excellent menus and food. I cannot say I've had a bad meal here. The outside seating is great, even though I prefer inside, inside is comfortable too. They are always busy, which is always a good sign, but the consistency for me is what keeps us coming back. I had Cajun catfish this year and it was fantastic...we returned 4 days later and I HAD to order it again! The fried green tomatoes are one of the best appetizers I've had in OCMD and I think are a must order. Bang bang shrimp are also a great starter. Solid soup too of you're a soup person.

Came here a few years ago on our last trip to Ocean City and fell in love with this restaurant. Came back and it was still just as amazing! The food is delicious and has great portions. The crab cake egg rolls were my favorite on the menu. The oysters we got were also delicious. I love the mermaid water! There's also something nice about getting a small pitcher of water when you order. I loved that! The views are spectacular and the service is great

This place was everything we were looking for in terms of easy, casual dining at the beach with good food, rum drinks, and a great ocean and sunset view on the bayside. We only waited for about 20 min which wasn't bad given the crowds Memorial Day weekend and they seemed very efficient. Good spot to have a drink at the outdoor bar while you wait. The crab stuffed halibut was the clear winner and would love to have that again soon. The scallops and orzo were also great. Mac and cheese was a bit dense but good. And fireworks on summer Saturdays at 9:45pm topped off a great evening. Highly recommend for a summer night at the beach.

This was a solid dining experience. We were looking for low key food options higher up costal highway and this fit the bill. It was slow on a Friday night, but started to pick up a bit after 10pm surprisingly. The service was good and I enjoyed my food--- the jerk chicken was not jerk chicken (which I didn't expect it to be), but it had a good flavor. The place had a tiki bar vibe, and I imagine during peak season its a good place to hang out in the sand filled outdoor seating.

Food was hot, came quick to the table and was great. Great atmosphere for families with young children, highly recommend.

We have been to ropewalk many times. It is by far my kids favorite place. It is probably the best beach ambiance restaurant in ocean city. It has the kids play ground, beach bar with tropical drinks, bands, fire pits, tikis, and more. The food is very dependent on what you order if it's good. The tacos and fried food are always good, although I wish they did something to the tortilla for the tacos. The salads feel cheap and light for what you get, so I generally steer clear of those. My kids always LOVE their meals. The kids menu is just done right. The service is also quick. If you're with kids it's perfect. If you are just on a date night or with adult family, I would feel rushed. My assessment, I'm here to late night party with the good drinks or to keep my kids entertained while I enjoy an ok meal.

(August 2025) Several years ago, my wife and I had dinner at the Bethany Beach location. All I remember is that it was a positive experience. Fast forward to earlier tonight. My wife and I came here after (Saturday) church. We arrived a little after 5:00 pm, and the place is already packed. We were very fortunate that there is an additional parking lot and we found a spot. For dinner, we both ordered the McFaul single platter ($31 each). I was fine with the sides it comes with, which is the green beans and dirty rice. My wife substituted both sides for coleslaw and mashed potatoes. That way, we get to try four different sides. For drinks, we asked about the ice tea and our server assured us it was fresh brewed (a.k.a. not from the soda machine). Our dinners came within seven minutes! Yes, within seven minutes. Everything was fantastic, including our server and runner. I hope we make a return trip as I saw other patrons' plates and want to also try them.

Ropewalk was great. Server was awesome, and the ambiance was fun. The weather was beautiful and so the breeze was coming in. The food was awesome, i loved the crab egg rolls and the wings a lot! We got 2 different flavored wings that were both mild and both very good. The cream of crab soup was not as salty and that was great. Also got an orange crush which was really fruity and not as strong. Would definitely come back soon!

A great meal. (Poke Bowl) Waitress was nice and attentive to our table. The place overlooks the bay. It's a big place and often a bit noisy in the summer months.

Standout dishes include the crab cakes, which are packed with lump crabmeat, and the surf and turf entree. The restaurant has a casual, relaxed ambiance with panoramic views of the Ocean City coastline. The large windows and outdoor seating create a light, airy atmosphere. Service was ok but nothing to write home about. It could have been an off night, I probably will give it another try

Food was decent but service was good and it had a great vibe. We sat outside there was live music and a beautiful view of the sunset. Overall great experience but the food was just ok.

This place is a go to whenever we come to visit OC. They have great shareable appitizers and their happy hour for drinks it awesome. The last time I went I felt disappointed. The food wasn't as good as I remembered. It was still enjoyable though. Service is very fast and friendly. They are very tentative and caring. The place overlooks the water and you can get a perfect view of the sunset if you time it out.

It was a bit above average. The views of the bay were nice and relaxing. It's "open air" but we sat inside. Service was good. Good came out quick and was quality. Better quality than some of the other touristy trap places in OC. Food prices are comparable to anywhere else you go with one exception. When you order a soda, it comes in a small pitcher which seems nice since you wouldn't have to wait for the free refills, but you get charged $8 (still free refills) for the bigger container which seems a bit weird. Not a big deal.....if I'm spending $100+, an extra $4 per drink so I don't have to wait for refills isn't going to sway my decision to go here..... but that's just strange to me. Also, and this was the reason for the 1 star deduction, the flies were terrible. They were everywhere and they bite. Didn't see any sort of insect control measures either. I get it's an open air place and it's right on the bay so there will be some bugs, but it was just out of control and took away from the experience. Crab egg rolls were good. Don't know that I'd get them again. Steamed shrimp were good quality. Jumbo and you could tell they were fresh and that the restaurant spent the money on quality over quantity. Wife got the crab legs steamer and said the same thing. Quality over quantity. Would probably go again.

I have been here three years in a row and it has always been very good. The facility is great, on the bay nice views. The staff is great, good service and a fast kitchen. We shared the crab egg rolls, very good. Then I had the tuna tacos which were great. Good selection of beers and a good bar.

I am pleasantly surprised with this restaurant. I mean I shouldn't be with it always being so busy every time I tried to come eat here early this year. My husband and I came in today as I've been trying to give this place a try for the past couple times coming to OC. Love the view! Plenty of tables inside and outside showing off that gorgeous bay and all its nature. I can see this being an incredible please to eat and watch the sunset here. I really like having a mini pitcher as the cup because I am always asking for more water. Didn't need to ask as this filled the need. Our waiter, Max, was very helpful and ready to answer any questions we had. Very attentive and friendly! We ordered the crab cake egg rolls for our appetizer and let me tell you, it was flavorful and crunchy at the same time. Perfectly cooked with lots of crab and the sauce given was a nice touch. I'm not a sauce person but the husband enjoyed it. I just added my lemon I got from my water to add a lil extra. I ordered the reda rockfish tacos but requested no tomatoes or chipotle horseradish sauce. I'm a super picky person. Taking those away did make the dish "dry" but, lemon to the rescue! Again, this is my own fault for removing items from a dish. I do not fault the restaurant for something I requested to be removed. The fish was cooked well and had a nice crunch. Scallions help give it a bite. Waffle fries were a huge hit with my husband as he kept going back for more. My husband ordered the flounder roulade and my goodness was that a fantastic meal! That stuffed flounder had the lemon butter sauce over top making it mouthwatering. The fish wasn't over cooked and it was moist! Wonderful flavor. The rice and green beans all worked well with balance it also out. I would totally recommend to anyone looking for good food and a fantastic view of the bay! We will be back again as this place has been added to the GO TO list for OC!

Rope walk was one of the few restaurants still open late night. The menu had a bunch of great options and it felt like great decor to be an ocean city staple. My shrimp sandwich was seasoned well. The server had a great personality and was really patient with me. She helped me to make a good decision based on my preferences and hunger level. The bill was reasonable and I felt well taken care of. I'll definitely be back.

It's always a great meal and great time at Ropewalk. I've eaten at Ropewalk in and out of season and they always seem to please. Wait staff are very attentive and even remember you when you return. I love the victory wings. Get a photo taken with Ronald Reagan while you are there. I highly recommend Ropewalk Tavern.

Big dinner party with a pretty big crowd and we had great service. Happy hour so had all the food specials---steamed shrimp, wings, etc, all very good. Orange crushes were awesome!

Great for kids. They love the play ground. The food is just ok. Service was around. As for the ambiance, it has a playful atmosphere. Again good place to take the kids otherwise I'd skip it.

The jerk chicken was very good and spicy ! The stuffed flounder was above average but not enough to rave about . The service was very good . The ambiance is very nice , clean and many areas with a spectacular view , will come back again . Past visits same service and still working on finding their great menu choices

We really enjoyed the outdoor seating with the sunset view over the Bay. Just what we were looking for. Then we were seated right by 2 guys playing guitars which was an unexpected treat. Then the food showed up. I got the crab stuffed flounder and the stuffing was like Thanksgiving stuffing. All bread, no crab flavor of any substance. The lemon drizzle was tasteless. In 5 days this was my first bad meal of the trip. My Bahama Mamma tasted like a glass of pineapple juice. I rarely order one of these but aren't they supposed to have a combination of pineapple, coconut, banana and rum flavor? Instead I got a can of Dole. Wife said her short ribs were only OK and tasted more like a pot roast. The service was fine, Carmyn was very nice and the atmosphere was great. I'm not upset that we went but the food just wasn't good.

This place is vast and very family-friendly. The service was above average; our waiter was on point with suggesting what was best on the menu for the day. The food was FANTASTIC !! We had the bang shrimp app and it was the best shrimp I've had. The drinks were really good and not too alcohol forward. The portions are more than big enough and the staff is super accommodating and friendly

Loved this experience. Stopped in for lunch with two adults and two kids and sat outside. The kids loved the playground area and mom and dad loved that they could sit in shady peace while the kids played. The food was pretty fast and was tasty. The drinks were also yummy. Service was stellar and d the ids fishbowl of soda was a hit. Great spot for a family outing.

We had a great evening at Ropewalk. They don't take reservations, but we're able to seat our party of 10 quickly. All of our food was fresh and delicious. The playground area was fun for the kids as well. A great experience overall.

Fantastic food drinks and atmosphere. It's become a staple for every visit we make to OC and this time did not disappoint.

We arrived in town and our first meal was at Ropewalk. We arrived around 6pm and were told it'd be a 30 minute wait and were surprised when our wait was only about 5 minutes. The food was amazing and above expectations. My friend has a shellfish allergy and they took care to ensure her meal was safe and enjoyable. It's right on the bay and the views were absolutely gorgeous.

The food at Ropewalk was very good and the atmosphere fun, with a playground out front for kids, and outside patio with a water view. A blue heron was spotted on the water while we dined. The crab and artichoke dip with chips & celery was very tasty where the artichoke highlighted the flavor. The crab egg rolls had the perfect crunch and the aioli sauce wasn't too spicy, and it was surprisingly excellent. The Rockfish tacos with a side of waffle fries was very good. The Asian tuna salad with Ahi tuna was delicious with a flavorful mango salsa, crunchy Asian noodles, and mandarin orange slices for added flavor. The Mississippi mud cake with chocolate sauce and whip cream was great, it had chocolate chips that gave it a great crunch. The water is served in a mini pitcher which is convenient so it doesn't run out. The service was great and everything was quite enjoyable I recommend dining here

Enjoyed a lunch visit here during a weekend. Came with a large group and were able to be seated outside under the awning. Perfect location and beautiful scenery of the bay. Wonderful crab cakes and seasoned fries. Small picture of water for all drinks including water. Wonderful as you don't have to look around for refills. Plenty of free parking in the lot as well.

Came on an insanely busy friday night & got sat in 30 minutes. our server, Katie, was very attentive. the food came out fast & it was so good! Sat outside with a great view!!

1st time (3 yrs ago) everything was perfect. However, the last 2 years has been a big disappointment. Rude servers that know nothing about the menu. Our waitress had to be the rudest person I have ever seen in OC. Not worth the money or wait.

Came to Ropewalk on 8/9/25. Was with a group of 13. Food was excellent. Service not so great. Waiter was very arrogant and rude toward our large party. Would not split our bills, not even between 3 groups of us per policy, and then told us we "should've told him earlier". Not sure why a server wouldn't have asked with such a large party to begin with. Was very cocky the entire time we were there as well. At least the food and atmosphere were enjoyable.

Arrived and there were a TON of people outside. Thought for sure parking would be an issue. But they seem to have a ton of spots ! Walked to hostess desk, got my buzzer, and told 30-45 minutes. Got buzzed around 25. Good deal. Server was personable, friendly. Good attention to the table. Got crab egg rolls for appetizer. Very good. Family got Mac and cheese, blackened chicken Alfredo, and rockfish tacos...no complaints from the crew at all. I got the Cancun steamer. Good amount of crawfish and shrimp. Maybe more sausage. Similar to other posts it seemed seasoning added after and not actually cooked with it. So it didn't get to "seep in". But all in all I enjoyed it. If not too hot, sit outside. The view of the bay is pretty nice. Would recommend and will be back!!

my first time to ocean city took my lovely fiancé there, i got the sea food steam pot with 6 hot wings hawaiian tocos and got alfrado every thing was wonderful the veiw was just something you cant stop looking at right of the bay service was real well and the place was nothing but clean

This place was just ok. It was loud and hot! We got drinks for adults and sodas for kids at the bar while we waited for a table. The narrow as very sweet and fast. It seemed like they just opened seating as we arrived which helped with the wait. We were seated in a back corner. Our adult drinks were slow to arrive at the table and they ended up charges again for soft drink refills for the kids. They ended up taking the soda and the slushy drink off the tab without it being requested. Everyone enjoyed their food.

This place rocks! Great sunset views, good food, friendly service and tons of things to keep kids occupied!

The food was delicious. They have a lot of good options and all were executed perfectly. An absolute solid meal. The service was great, they were nice and accommodating. Ambiance is beachy and cute. There are some epic sharks on the ceiling that really make the place dope. Absolutely annihilated a Bada Bing Shrimp. The decorative lettuce lowkey ate.
