The Best Ski and Spa Resorts for Après Relaxation | Condé Nast Traveler

"Skiing or snowboarding the Dolomites is both fun and challenging, making a spa recharge essential after a day practicing your mogul skills. Fortunately, the Rosapetra Spa has everything you need to ready your body for another day on one of Italy’s most celebrated mountains, which also happens to be a UNESCO World Heritage site: Finnish sauna (kept at 90 degrees Fahrenheit), Turkish bath, ice-water wall (a fine introduction for skeptics of cold plunging), and sensory showers. Choose from one of several of Rosapetra’s patented Hatma offerings; the technique is said to deliver a three-dimensional massage, and this may be best evidenced in the Hatma Essence. A hot oil massage relaxes muscles and eases joint pain as it puts the body in a tranquil state where only good vibes and energy flow."

Rosapetra Spa Resort

"Our favorite place to hit reset? The spa at Cortina’s four-year-old timber-and-glass Rosa Petra resort, whose sauna is exactly what sore post-ski hamstrings cry out for. There’s also a 50-foot indoor pool and a steam room that continually changes color just because. For deeper release, book the Hatma Essence massage with warm oil—then thank us later (; from $240)."

We had a magical time at Rosa Petra. The staff are so warm and welcoming and the rooms are lovely. The restaurant staff couldn’t have been more kind with our two little ones. The food is wonderful at the hotel’s restaurant and the views from the patio are fantastic. |Take their shuttle into Cortina. Parking there really was a nightmare! The hotel is not air conditioned, but with fans, we slept comfortably. We really wished we could have stayed longer.

One of our favorite hotels we’ve been to! The hotel is right outside the city centre; we were initially a bit concerned about that, but it ended up being a plus! It was quiet, with great views and walking trails, and city access was seamless with the amazing shuttle driver Stefano. The service was really A+ — the concierge helped us plan hikes, and when he very helpfully suggested to start early (which made our experience far better), they also ensured that we had 2 breakfast boxes and coffee ready for us when we woke up since we left before breakfast. Our room had a great view, balcony, and was exceptionally clean. The only downside was the lack of AC, and that the mattress was a bit firm. But an open window and fan really did the trick. We made another stop in the dolomites at a separate five star hotel, and this really highlighted how amazing Rosapetra was — we kept comparing everything to Rosapetra and wishing we had extended our stay instead. The few days at Rosapetra were some of our favorite days in our lives between the hotel, Cortina d’Ampezzo, and the surrounding hikes. Thanks for such a great experience!

A disappointing stay at Rosapetra SPA I’ve always admired Rosapetra SPA - its location in Cortina d’Ampezzo, the wood-and-stone charm, the promise of calm, combined with being pampered. So when we finally booked three nights for €1,800, I was thrilled, certain this would be the highlight of our Dolomites trip. That’s what makes writing this so difficult: what we experienced simply didn’t live up to the standard or value I’ve always associated with Rosapetra SPA. —> Room comfort: For a room in this price category, the lack of air conditioning was very surprising but might have been fine if we could ventilate. Unfortunately, almost every time we opened the windows, cigarette smoke from other guests drifted in. On our third evening, a traditional event took place around the hotel and in Cortina - involving the burning of big celebratory fires stacked up all across town. It just wasn’t possible to open windows without feeling like a smoked trout. This resulted in yet another day in a very hot room. One afternoon, while we were out, staff entered, left the lights on in both the main room and bathroom, and left a window open - resulting in a room full of mosquitoes, with stings all over our bodies and a sleepless night. When I highlighted this problem to reception, they offered me a tabletop plug-in fan to help. That left me speechless. This was an absolutely needless negative impact the hotel staff caused. Not being able to find relaxing sleep on your holiday - it’s the best that can happen… —> Maintenance issues: I’ve always imagined Rosapetra SPA rooms as immaculate, but ours had a scratched wooden floor and ceiling windows with clear water damage from past rain exposure. The photographs we took show stained, weathered wood that should never be present in a luxury setting. During the day, the room heats up enormously - temperatures got up to 33°C, which is a huge challenge without air conditioning. —> Breakfast atmosphere: I’ve had expectations of serene mornings here, but on our first day, lawn mowing, leaf blowing, and other garden work began at 10 a.m. right beside the breakfast tables. The video we recorded captures the full “lawnmowing concert” - a complete break from any sense of peace. Service was very friendly but slow; on two mornings, a cappuccino required three reminders and nearly 15 minutes, despite only a few occupied tables. —> Dining: Dinner was the final blow - beautifully plated in some cases but small and underwhelming for the price. A €35 aubergine parmigiana was starter-sized, a chicken breast was completely bland and came alone on the plate with a few potato wedges, and sides felt like an afterthought. No love in the food. —> Service: The staff were visible but seemed disengaged, with little attentiveness. Some few were really friendly and good. Overall, hit and miss. Overall: Rosapetra SPA still has its breathtaking views and Alpine charm, but the hit-and-miss service, the hotel-staff-caused mosquito incident, disruptive maintenance scheduling, visible room neglect, and underwhelming dining left us feeling let down. It might be that Rosapetra SPA is a great hotel to stay during snowy winters, but it certainly missed the mark in summer. I wish I could recommend this stay, but it breaks my heart to say I absolutely cannot.

We had an amazing and memorable time at the RosaPetra Hotel in Cortina D’Ampezzo. The entire staff was so kind and attentive. Roberta (the front office manager) made sure that all of our needs were taken care of. Canio (concierge) helped us plan the best activities and experiences with 2 kids! We spent 3 nights here but plan to be back for more in the future!

I cannot wait to return to this amazing hotel and spa. The service was amazing across all departments. The concierge gave wonderful recommendations; the shuttle was always available when needed with a fun friendly driver. Cannot speak more highly of this hotel. Definitely recommend you stay here! Apologies, had to repost this from the correct email.

Extremely beautiful and luxurious spa. We stopped in during a rainy afternoon after our morning hike. Multiple saunas, steam rooms, and showers, + a warm pool. Delightful hydrotherapy amenities. Highly recommend!

Rosapetra Spa Resort is a luxurious retreat known for its exceptional spa, offering serene mountain views and top-tier wellness treatments. Has saunas, steams, ice bath and much more. The service is impeccable—staff go above and beyond to make every stay feel special. While it’s slightly outside of Cortina’s town center, the convenient shuttle makes getting around easy and stress-free while keeping it quaint and quiet. Recommend!

The spa experience here is luxurious. As a naturopathic doctor I appreciate the attention to detail with the hydrotherapy set up and the blend of natural aromatherapy in each area. I highly recommend stopping by even if just for the spa experience.

Yelp
Only really one bad thing... the rooms are pretty small. Maybe not by Manhattan standards, but small. It's all relative but we were just finishing a hiking tour of the South Tyrolean Alps and there were a couple of really great hotels we stayed at (Romantik Turm) http://www.yelp.com/biz/romantik-hotel-turm-fi%C3%A8-allo-sciliar-2 and the Rosa Alpina (http://www.rosalpina.it/) and the Rosa Petra was not really in the same league. Very clean and modern but the bathroom a little on the cramped side as well as the rest of the room. The usual complaint with a bathroom that size... no place for two people to layout their stuff. Staff was nice and the gym was great. But it's a 2-0 minjute walk into Cortina and there is not much see or places to eat other than at the hotel. Great little bar downstairs and the usual awesome Italian breakfast buffet. A row of bikes out front and the at the front desk they just said, "Help yourself. You want a padlock?"

Yelp
Cute little hotel and spa with great mountain views. They only have 12 or 15 rooms. I did not use the Spa but we ate in the restaurant for dinner and breakfast ( breakfast included in room price). They were friendly and efficient. Room was clean and beautifully designed with an awesome shower all in natural stone. Too bad they did not have heated floors in bathroom, that took away from the feel since tile was very cold. Great pit stop on our alp tour.
