Spoiler alert on the ghost story aspect of this! One of the best “Great Houses“ you can visit on Jamaica. A lot of rich history in it. But, the huge play-up of the whole “Annie Palmer” ghost story is a complete myth. Tourists eat it up (as you can see from the reviews), but there’s actually no factual, historical basis for it. There was no Annie Palmer, that is not her grave outside, and there’s no record of anyone being murdered there. It is a great historical building though. Restored from dereliction from 1965-1973 at the cost of $2.5 million, it now stands as a historical recreation of the old sugar slave plantation days. Enjoy it any way that suits you.

I have been hearing the story about this place since I was a kid, so getting to finally see the place and walk through it was kinda cathartic.
The tour was pretty nice, I forgot how much I paid at the time. Anyways, they walk you through the rooms and educate you on the dark history of the greathouse. You're not allowed to tour the furniture, but of course you can take pictures.
They even show you, what they say is, Annie Palmer's grave site. It's an interesting experience...
After you're done with the tour, you can go downstairs and buy souvenirs from the shop that's there.

We thoroughly enjoyed the tour. Our guide was knowledgeable and provided an excellent overview of the history of Rose Hall. It's certainly worth one hour of your time if you are in Montego Bay. One Love.

Worth a visit, despite the steep admission price, if only to learn a little local history and compare a tropicalised stately home with contemporaneous ones in England. I enjoyed the 30 minute walk there from our hotel, and since (at least this part of) Jamaica has very few things to do or visit, one has to go.

Honestly was disappointed. We did the night tour, instead of just telling us the history and letting us enjoy the tour it was over dramatic. A patron passed out and was on the floor, no one on staff knew what to do, who to call or even how to take her pulse etc. My boyfriend checked her and we stayed with her until we walked her down the steps to her car. Missed the rest of the tour, asked for a refund, and we were told we would be hearing from the management and haven't heard from anyone and never received our refund. Was truly dissatisfied.
FOLLOWUP: I have reached out, as instructed, for a refund and have not heard back from anyone. What more do you need from me please?

It was always a dream of mine to visit the Rose Hall great house. I loved it. Definately worth visiting and our guide Sancha was amazing. She was very informative and hilarious too. Also had a sweet voice where she sang johnny cash song in the end about Annie. Please do visit.

You get a lot of history of the property which includes when it was built and the ownership chain.
Out tour guide was very detailed and knowledgeable on the subject matter. She was able to answer the questions that came from our group.
You get a quick tour of the grounds and a more detailed tour of the Great House with all the rooms. In each room, you get a bit of history on the furnishings and the relationship to the owner.
Very scenic property. The tour was worth it.
