"Final Resting Place for Notable Macon Residents Rose Hill Cemetery's winding pathways serve as the final resting place for Macon's most well known residents. The lush cemetery served as inspiration for the Allman Brothers Band, and both Duane Allman and Berry Oakley are buried here. Their graves sit behind a fence to protect the site after years of fans stopping by. Also buried here is Eugenia Tucker Fitzgerald, founder of the Alpha Delta Pi sorority."

Beautiful cemetery. We went to see the resting place of Greg, Duane, Butch and Berry and saw a lot more. Found the Bond Tomb and Little Martha too. Amazing place filled with history.

A very interesting cemetery with a lot of history. It was created when the city realized that the City Cemetery (see my review) would not be adequate for their growth. The terrain is very hilly and the roadways are tight. It contains notable people from the 1800's to the present, including Greg & Duane Allman, Confederate soldiers and separate sections for different faiths. I could have spent much more time there and plan to return one day.

Very tight driving spaces and hard to maneuver this place, but this cemetery is my second favorite after Bonaventure. Beautiful marbled statues and mausoleums. The place was so large and hot that I could barely see a fraction of it. The best plan is to park outside and walk in, but if you come to see Duane Allman grave drive down and park by the train tracks. Also, humans make good food for plants and wildflowers

Wanted to walk around Macon today after work and decided first on The River Walk Park with accompanying Heritage Trail. I don’t really recommend that walk, interesting but decided to check out this cemetery. Very peaceful, tranquil, beautiful, and historical here. Many gorgeous plots Of people from the 19th and 20th centuries laid to rest here. Many paths to walk along and admire the stone and marble headstones, pillars, and obelisks. Much attention to detail in these carvings as well as the iron works surrounding the plots. If you do choose to come here, please be mindful and quiet in respect to people there, both in this world and the other world.

Founded in 1840, features the graves of confederate soldiers, politicians, and The famous Greg Allman and his two brothers. The upkeep is disappointing.

The best peaceful place to understand the importance of the history of Macon County. Since 1840 the cemetery looks in great condition and clean. Excellent place to walk around and see how important these people are to the city.

Google
Beautiful cemetery. So much history. Gregg Allman, his brother and another band member are buried here. Worth the trip if you're passing through Macon. They hung out here by the railroad tracks and wrote many of their songs.

Beautiful cemetery. The lady I spoke with at the office was very sweet. The paths are narrow but you can drive around if you don't want to fight the hills. Beautiful scenery all around. I especially Iove the layers to it and all of the little steps to get from one level to the next. Be careful though, some are loose. There's a lot of history here like the Allman brothers and band member. The Hebrew burial ground was interesting and my favorite spot in Rose Hill. I can't read or speak Hebrew but it makes me want to learn. My little girl is very sensitive, she particularly feels for the children's grave. She laid dandelions on the children's graves when she spotted them and would tell me what she thinks they would be doing if they were alive today. So sweet. I recommend it to anyone who has a little extra time for a stroll. There's also flag that you can go towards to get to the soldiers area. It's a nice memorial with some informative plaques. I think there's something for everyone wether your a history buff, photographer or just needing to get in a few extra steps for the day. Family friendly, even my kids love walking around and imagining who the people were or could be today. ❤️

Yelp
A huge cemetery that tells some of the story of the city of Macon. From politicians to soldiers, everyone eventually comes to need such a place. Very narrow lanes are drivable but you need to be very careful around corners lest you scrape a tire on the curbs. There really isn't much room for parking so be aware of where you might be leaving your car if you get out. Lots of ups and downs and then you'll find Greg Allman and the members of the Allman Brothers band which are below a small rise and surrounded by a tall fence. The Confederate soldiers area is massive as of course, a number of large Civil War battles took place in Georgia. These and others are in very good condition. Stop by and pay your respects. Yelp
There really isn't much more interesting to me than an old historic cemetery, Rose Hill is just that. Locally most famous for the resting place of Greg Allman and members of the Allman Brothers band it is also home to over 1700 confederate soldiers and their families as well as Elizabeth Reed inspiration for the Allman Brothers song " In Memory of Elizabeth Reed". This cemetery is very large and many narrow streets and many hills, it is by no means pristine and kept up as other cemeteries I have visited around the country and it it is not a good location if climbing and rough terrain is difficult for you. I still recommend especially if you are into music history and are in the area.

Yelp
Went to Macon today to pay respect to a legend. RIP Gregg Allman.... The cemetery is quite big and old. Many graves date to civil war times. Since the recent passing of Gregg Allman, the crowds are bigger I'm sure. The paths are very narrow for cars. I found it easier to park outside the cemetery and walk in. It is not a difficult walk and easy to find the Allman Brothers gravesite. It was quite a sight to see how many people were there on a Friday afternoon. A recommend a visit if you are a fan as I am.

Yelp
A truly beautiful place. Many very old grave sites, unique layout, with levels and narrow paths. Lots of history here. Definitely worth the visit, whether you're a fan of the Allman Brothers or not. Bring a map to more easily locate Duane & Berry's graves, and a few other famous spots.

Yelp
We stopped by Rose Hill to see the graves of the Allmans. This cemetery is just amazing. This place is huge and unique and it's very cool to walk around and see so much history represented. Well worth a visit. If you stop by the Big House museum before hand they will give you a map to all of the Allman related grave sites.

Yelp
Neat place and of course the Allmans are here. A bit tight for a full size truck in some places but there is room to park outside the gates.

Yelp
Old cemetery overlooking railroad tracks and a lazily flowing river. Duane and Berry's graves are there, yes, but worth just walking around too. Be careful driving though; the old horse paths are VERY narrow.
