The Best Hotels in Bermuda for Every Kind of Island Vibe | Condé Nast Traveler

"Originally built in 1906 as E.J. Thompson’s private home and converted into a boutique hotel in the 1930s, this Relais & Châteaux mansion keeps its old-school charm with Waterford crystal chandeliers, antique-style furniture, and crown moldings galore, and it couldn’t sit closer to Hamilton’s shops, restaurants, and attractions." - CNT Editors, Shannon McMahon

The Best Resorts in Bermuda

"A family-owned Relais & Châteaux property, Rosedon Hotel offers cozy deluxe and luxury rooms set among tropical gardens and a pool, and I found Huckleberry Restaurant—named for Mark Twain—to be a highlight, pairing Bermudian culture with Southern roots and dishes like braised beef short ribs, culurgiones, and pan-roasted duck breast; the hotel is a short ride from the beach and is undergoing a $1.5 million renovation to expand dining and rooms through 2025." - Lydia Mansel Lydia Mansel Lydia Mansel is a writer with more than eight years of experience editing and writing for both brands and online publications—with a particular focus on travel, fashion, and lifestyle. "Built in 1906 as a private residence and converted in the 1950s,Rosedon Hotel is a low-key alternative to Bermuda’s pricey chain hotels. Despite being located in the bustling heart of Hamilton, the property’s lush tropical gardens have the feel of a country estate where geraniums always seem to be in bloom and balmy breezes waft through elegant, colonial-style rooms. The 40 individually appointed accommodations have enough chintz to please a dowager aunt, plus iPod docking stations and private balconies to satisfy everyone else in the family. Laid-back pleasures await in the public spaces: sample weekly changing finger sandwiches during afternoon tea or dine on fresh-caught specialties at Huckleberry, the on-site restaurant, or simply lie in the sun on one of the white chaises that surround the small pool. Though the resort doesn’t have a beach of its own, a free shuttle is on hand to take you to pink-sand shores nearby."

Rosedon Hotel, Hamilton, Bermuda - Hotel Review | Condé Nast Traveler

"What stands out as you arrive at the hotel? With its stately, whitewashed exterior and royal blue awnings, the Rosedon Hotel is a striking presence in the City of Hamilton, one with lush gardens, wide stone stairs, and an airy wraparound porch—a place where Mark Twain himself might have sat, white suit and all, smoking his favorite pipe. You don’t have go much further to realize this place oozes Edwardian atmosphere—and especially so when you take one step into the French-door entryway. What is the story behind the hotel? The Rosedon was originally built in 1906 as the private home of E.J. Thompson, a wealthy businessman who named the property after his son, Robert Rosedon Thompson. It was converted into a boutique hotel in the 1930s and has changed ownership several times since, but the mansion still boasts much of its old-school charm. Now a luxurious Relais & Chateaux property, the hotel features all of the elegant touches of a monied estate, including Waterford crystal chandeliers, antique-style furniture, and crown moldings galore. How are the rooms? Thanks to a recent renovation, much of the Rosedon just got a fresh new look, including the guest rooms, which are classically designed with plantation-style furniture, crisp white duvets, and island-inspired artwork. You won’t have any water views here, but many of the rooms overlook the lush tropical gardens surrounding the property. Is there a charge for Wi-Fi? There's complimentary Wi-Fi throughout the hotel. If we need a bit of refreshment after a long travel day (or even a day of beaching), where should we go? Huckleberry is a cozy little spot that fashions itself as a sea-to-plate and farm-to-table joint with a twist of Southern charm. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are served there, and if you decide to eat on property as opposed to venturing into town, just be sure to reserve a table on the outdoor patio—the dining room is pretty cramped. How's the service? The Rosedon affixed that bronze Relais & Chateaux plaque to its walls for good reason: In addition to its luxurious old-world style surroundings, the staff here does an excellent job of making your stay as pleasant as possible. What type of travelers will you find here? Business travelers who enjoy the hotel’s edge-o-town location, and mature couples reading books on the wicker rocking chairs on the front porch. What will we find in the surrounding neighborhood? The Rosedon couldn’t possibly be closer to the shops, restaurants, and attractions in the City of Hamilton. In fact, it’s just a stone’s throw from the Hamilton Princess across the street, making it an especially attractive option for a centrally located property without the hefty price tag. Any other hotel features worth noting? The Rosedon may not be packed with amenities like some of Bermuda’s bigger resorts, but it does provide a handful of complimentary extras. There’s a daily shuttle to Elbow Beach (about 10 minutes away), a pair of old-timey bicycles that can be borrowed at any time, afternoon tea with biscuits and cookies, plus a one-hour rum swizzle cocktail party with hors d’oeuvres, held every Tuesday night. So why would you recommend this hotel? This is a charming center-of-town property with tons of old-school pomp. If you’ve ever dreamed about staying in Tom Sawyer’s rich neighbor’s house, this is the place for you." - David LaHuta

Need to Fill a Hamptons-Sized Hole in Your Heart? It’s Always Sunny in Bermuda | Vogue

"A stately historic mansion steps away from the capital of Hamilton, this luxe Relais & Chateaux property has been in the same family for three generations and is fresh off a renovation that revived its 40 rooms while retaining its lovely old-school charm—male staff members wear Bermuda shorts and kneesocks, and traditional British afternoon tea is served every afternoon." - Jancee Dunn

We had a wonderful stay at Rosedon Hotel in Hamilton, Bermuda. Arriving late one evening, we were warmly welcomed and escorted straight to our garden-level room, which felt inviting from the moment we stepped in. The room was spacious, spotlessly clean, and full of thoughtful details—a vibrant wallpaper accent wall, painted concrete floors for a modern touch, and a cozy sitting nook with wicker chairs and a table. The bed was low and very comfortable (perfect for easy access, though some rooms have standard-height beds). The kitchenette was a nice bonus, with a fridge, Nespresso machine, kettle, and complimentary Illy coffee pods. Temperature controls kept everything perfectly comfortable, the large TV was great (even if the remote took a minute to figure out), and the bathroom stood out with its roomy walk-in shower and plenty of counter space. Housekeeping was excellent and daily—something we truly appreciated, especially since it’s becoming less common. We spent most days exploring Bermuda, but returning to the room always felt relaxing and refreshing. The location is ideal: close to Hamilton’s shops and restaurants, with just a pleasant 5-10 minute walk to the main business district and Front Street. Dining on-site was a highlight—we enjoyed outstanding meals at both Huckleberry and Bagels & Brews in their lovely settings. Above all, the staff were outstanding: friendly, attentive, and genuinely engaging. We loved chatting with them and felt so well taken care of. Rosedon perfectly blends boutique charm, great location, and warm Bermudian hospitality. We highly recommend it and look forward to returning!

This hotel was just incredible! The staff was attentive, fun and so warm at every moment! I truly felt like I was in paradise. The pool is lovely, the grounds are well kept and my room was adorable! The bed was super comfortable and I am quite picky about those! I loved the restaurants as well as the location. The staff goes above and beyond and truly make you feel like family! I am so sad to leave such a wonderful place!!

This hotel is truly charming. Quaint, peaceful, and simply wonderful. The front garden is beautifully maintained, and enjoying breakfast on the front porch is a delightful experience. The included breakfast is outstanding, offering a wide variety of delicious options. The bar is warm and cozy, perfect for unwinding. The staff is fabulous, friendly, attentive, and welcoming. Room renovations are tastefully done, and the beds are exceptionally comfortable. However, a few enhancements could elevate the experience from wonderful to exceptional: 1. Lighting: The bedroom area is too dim, especially near the table and chairs. Additional lighting would make the space more functional and inviting. 2. Window Treatments: The windows currently offer only blackout curtains or full exposure. Adding sheer curtain panels would allow natural light in while maintaining privacy. 3. Vanity Space: A small table and mirror in the closet area would be ideal for makeup application, especially since the lighting there is excellent and there's ample space. 4. Hooks: More hooks in the bathroom or closet area would be helpful for hanging wet items. 5. Bathroom Mat: A larger floor mat would help manage water from the otherwise wonderful shower. 5. VERY IMPORTANT: In-Room Safe: This is essential for business travelers. A secure place for laptops, passports, and valuables is a must. I would not stay again without this feature. 6. Pool Area Odor: The restaurant’s fryer vent seems to release unpleasant smells into the pool area, which detracts from its charm. Overall, this hotel offers a lovely and tranquil atmosphere, ideal for both business and leisure travelers. You truly feel the warmth of Bermuda hospitality here.

Rosedon Hotel is an absolute gem—charming, historic, and beautifully maintained. The architecture is stunning, the food is delicious, and the staff is truly exceptional. They went above and beyond to make my husband's 40th birthday unforgettable. While there’s no gym on site, they partner with Waterfront Wellness just across the street, which offers a full-size gym that I truly enjoyed using. We can’t wait to return!

Sunday brunch by the pool. Went with my friends to spend the day by the pool, we had a great time, the food was varied and tasty, drinks were not included in the price deal. It’s a bit pricey but recommended.

Loved the costs, the menu, the pool temperature and he atmosphere however the service needs to be improved as on two occasions we had to call the waiters/waitress over for assistance as opposed to them checking in on us. The music could be improved as we are an island and guests do love to hear island music. The music was very low.
