Superb location! Peaceful and beautiful overlooking the lake. The hospitality is warm and welcoming. The house is immaculate and the staff are warm, friendly and efficient. The breakfast was absolutely delicious… with superb produce… plentiful and beautifully cooked. Relaxing Baroque music whilst musing over the Lake and taking our Break fast was just idyllic! Nothing was too much trouble. Our room was cosy with a wonderful view and the bed was so comfortable. Our host Gerard was a font of knowledge both historically about Buxton and of course about lovely walks and where to find good coffee and meals out! |All in all we had a fantastic time and we will cherish our stay at Roseleigh in Buxton. Roseleigh is perfectly situated to explore all that Buxton has to offer, from the wonderful architecture of the Crescent and the history of the Spa water, to the numerous good quality restaurants and bars. Gerard and Maggie are superb hosts, extremely welcoming and Gerard’s knowledge of the town is excellent and really helpful before you venture out. Roseleigh House is spacious and beautifully decorated. The rooms are extremely comfortable and well equipped, the en-suite bathrooms are modern with all of the facilities you will require. Finally, to top if off, the breakfast is of the highest quality we’ve ever experienced. Highly recommended, we’ll be using it again.

This excellent hotel is located opposite the Gardens in the centre of Buxton so walking distance to all of the town’s attractions and facilities. My room was very comfortable and breakfast was very good. The owners are kind and helpful. I appreciated the comfortable arm chairs in the room so I didn’t have to sit on the bed. I appreciated the fact they had decaf tea in the room (not decaf coffee in the room but available for breakfast) and lovely biscuits. The bathroom was good with a nice walk in shower. I really enjoyed my stay there.

Our stay was delightful. We had a fantastic time in Buxton. The location of the guesthouse was excellent, easily walkable to everywhere and across from a gorgeous park. Very peaceful. The breakfast was delicious, with a great selection and freshly prepared. The service was smooth and professional, all the staff were so efficient and friendly. The room was large and comfortable, very clean with good beds.

The owners of this charming guest house are exceptionally warm and welcoming. Jarred (I hope I’ve spelled his name correctly) is remarkably knowledgeable about the surrounding area. He offered thoughtful recommendations for restaurants and hiking trails, and even shared fascinating insights into Buxton’s rich history, taking the time to explain key historical events. The guest house itself enjoys a superb location, directly opposite a beautiful park that is truly a hidden gem—well worth exploring at a leisurely pace to appreciate its natural beauty. Buxton is a delightful town with friendly locals, and you’ll find plenty of inviting restaurants to enjoy. At Bailey’s, be sure to ask for Steven—the Rothschild wine is excellent value—and at Simply Thai, look out for Oliver, the charming “Harry Potter” look-alike, who provides wonderful service. Breakfast at the guest house easily rivals that of any fine hotel. The hot porridge and freshly baked scones served with tea were particular highlights, though the menu offers plenty to choose from.

Everything about the Roseleigh exceeded expectations and was absolutely lovely! The owner met me at the door upon my (much later than expected) arrival, provided me with some information, and was kind enough to repeat that information at breakfast the next morning (understanding that i must have been quite tired after a long trip). The breakfast is excellent. They have a small menu with items to please everyone, as well as a buffet of cheeses, yogurts, cereals and all different kinds of fresh juices. The room was cozy, clean, and quiet. Exactly what I needed, for a peaceful weekend. The hotel is located right on a park that is beautiful for a walk, and it's also close to the main centre of town. I can not recommend this establishment enough. Will absolutely be back!

We’ve stayed here twice now and absolutely loved it both times. Gerard and Maggie are amazing hosts, so friendly and welcoming. Gerard gave us some great recommendations for hikes and places to visit around Buxton. The room was clean, airy, and spotless, with amazing views. Breakfast was freshly cooked, delicious, and had plenty of options. We’d definitely love to go back again!

From the moment we arrived we were met by Gerard who was very welcoming and provided all relevant information regarding Roseleigh along with ideas of walks, things to do and his local knowledge is second to none. The town is an easy 5 minute stroll away. We had a lovely quiet room on the 2nd floor which was spotless as was the rest of the guest house. All of the staff were very friendly and attentive and the breakfast was fabulous! Thank you Gerard, Maggie & Staff - we’ve had a fantastic time and will definitely be back x

Our hosts, Maggi and Gerard, were very welcoming! The property is beautifully appointed with historical touches and so perfectly situated for amazing views from breakfast or your room. Front rooms have lake view but our side room had a lovely tree view. Can't imagine there is a bad room in the house. Great for a stroll in the morning around the lake before breakfast. Walking distance to everything in Buxton! (We particularly liked Simply Thai for dinner - about a 5-7 minute walk from Roseleigh.) The breakfast and our hosts helpful information really made the stay extra special. Parking is available but it's a tight fit. Probably best to let your passenger out before parking so no one has to scramble through shrubbery. I would absolutely stay here again!
