The owners of this charming guest house are exceptionally warm and welcoming. Jarred (I hope I’ve spelled his name correctly) is remarkably knowledgeable about the surrounding area. He offered thoughtful recommendations for restaurants and hiking trails, and even shared fascinating insights into Buxton’s rich history, taking the time to explain key historical events.
The guest house itself enjoys a superb location, directly opposite a beautiful park that is truly a hidden gem—well worth exploring at a leisurely pace to appreciate its natural beauty. Buxton is a delightful town with friendly locals, and you’ll find plenty of inviting restaurants to enjoy. At Bailey’s, be sure to ask for Steven—the Rothschild wine is excellent value—and at Simply Thai, look out for Oliver, the charming “Harry Potter” look-alike, who provides wonderful service.
Breakfast at the guest house easily rivals that of any fine hotel. The hot porridge and freshly baked scones served with tea were particular highlights, though the menu offers plenty to choose from.
