We had 4 interstate visitors and brought them here for dinner.
We were really disappointed that we picked this place.
The place was very busy, but the staff were coping quite well.
So no problem there.
Apparently the place has just changed hands, and as a regular I have noticed a few things that look like penny pinching.
The on tap beer selection has been reduced, with nicer beers now gone, just the common easy beers available now.
The menu selection has been reduced also, and is very basic at best.
The quality of the food is noticeably worse and meal sizes are smaller than before.
Prices seem a little bit high for what you actually get.
Still an amazing venue, with a lot of history and great outlook.
It’s a real shame the new owners have sought to lower overheads and at the same time raising prices to make a quick buck.
We were embarrassed, as we had built the place up to our friends and it was so disappointing.
We won’t be returning until it probably changes hands again after the new owners go broke.

Food was really good. Service was terrible.
Seated - had to wait 15 minutes for our order to be taken, wasn’t busy.
Food was excellent. Fresh, great quality.
Ordered drink refills when our lunch was delivered to our table, didn’t receive them. Had to ask for them to be removed from our bill when paying.

Stayed 1 night x 2 rooms, travelling with adult kids, great location, very quite, rooms were lovely, close to so many wineries, 15 min drive to the centre of Launceston, definitely worth staying at if you want peace & quite, great views of the lake & country side. We ate dinner at thd Restaurant, we had a great meal, worth considering. Enjoyable stay, thank you. Mary - Sydney Australia

Hotel and accomodation staff were so friendly and always with a smile, very helpful and really 5 star.
Rooms easy access clean and tidy. Magnificent views from most rooms.
Food at the hotel was brilliant. We had grilled fish and chips, fish was cooked to perfection as far as I am concerned. The deserts we had were the sticky banana pudding and warm Dutch apple cake both very nice yum!

Nice room, great views, nice hot tub.
Food was pretty average, pizza was made of pre fab base , hardly a prawn in sight even though it was a prawn pizza. Mains came out literally as we finished our entree even though we specifically asked for at least a 15 minute break between courses. Except for one young waitress the rest of the restaurant staff were pretty average. Table next to us had a drink spilt oven them and another table had bits of their meal fall on the floor as the meal was we. The snitzell looked like it had been over cooked or cooked in old oil.

The staff were helpful and the food was good but there seemed to be no knowledge or system to cater for intolerances/allergies. Some options are marked on the menu however if you have an intolerance be extra vigilant - I ordered a vegan option and it was fried in butter :(

Our corner unit has a magnificent view of the Tamar river/valley. We enjoyed the room outdoor Spa/Jacuzzi.
The hotel is in a quiet neighbourhood with 2 wineyards nearby. It is a perfect location for relaxation

My partner and I stayed here for a couple of nights recently. Honestly, it wasnt too bad, our room was very nice and clean and we had a good view. The only major complaint/ feedback I have is that the grounds were not well maintained. The gardener mowed the lawns but he seemed to miss the weeds and the gardens seemed a bit out of control, which took away from the beauty of the place (if only the review let me post the photos). The staff were very nice and accommodating which made the trip very pleasant. Overall, i'd come back again.

Yelp
A hotel with a bit of a history. The quiet location on the water is refreshing. The cool breeze of a night really helps with sleeping and that rhythmic movement of water can be heard from any room.
There has been a total rethink of mixing history with modern accommodation. Behind the historical building is a large number of self contained units. Each with its large balcony over looking the main hotel and water. All the mods cons can be found here in the modern quarters.
The hotel management is very helpful with booking tours in the area. This is area is famous for its wines.
Although this place is out of the way it is still a very pleasant stay.
