Rosie's Mexican Cantina

I do like Rosie’s. However, I do think it’s a little overrated. There are plenty of good Mexican places in Huntsville. It’s a decent place to get food and the service is fast. Our food was yummy and I would go again. It’s not my top pick tho.

Great booths. Plenty of seating. Food is yummy. Salsa knocks off half a point, tastes like pizza sauce. And service knocks off the other half point, both front of house and our server was grumpy and poor customer service... what ever happened to a simple half-smile and a "hello" or "welcome in", funny how those basics seem difficult nowadays.

Some of the best Mexican food available in the state! Great atmosphere and a must visit for people that enjoy Mexican cuisine.

As usual, Rosie’s never disappoints. The service was fast, food was excellent, our server was very nice and friendly. The burrito supreme n the nacho bites were excellent.

Bland and Dry meats. Last year had multiple meats that had no taste. This year, I had a burger, but it was dry. I come to hang out once a year with friends because it's able to accommodate very large groups. The chips are good, but the salsa tastes like it's out of the jar with some added shakes of pepper oil or seasoning to give it a kick. The service, though, is excellent! All ages and backgrounds give their best at all times. Hostesses make sure they can seat you and party in good time. The bar is efficient, and the servers are patient and as fast as they can be because this place is large. I will try steak with mushrooms next time. And my friends enjoyed the nachos. Beautiful outdoor garden/fountain for pictures.

Stopped there for lunch today with my mom and was truly disappointed. Been there multiple times and it was amazing until today. I took 2 bites of my food and went and puked in the restroom. My mom barely ate hers and we had to stop to use the restroom before we made it home. Everything about our food was off. Rice and beans tasted way off and that usually my favorite part. Burrito was like liquid. Can't say I'll ever go back and that's disappointing

We visited today with our men's group from church while on a conference in Huntsville. We had 12 in our group and we didn't have a very long wait at all. Our waitress was "Bobbie" and she was absolutely on point! She was very attentive and very helpful. She cares about her customers and it most definitely shows. I ordered the Fajita Salad (without tortilla strips) because I try to avoid carbs on my carnivore/keto diet. The salad was fresh and absolutely delicious! The beef was cooked perfectly. I'll likely order the exact same thing if we come back. I don't frequent the area, but if I come back with my family, we'll definitely stop by and ask for Bobbie. To the management, I don't see the level of service that Bobbie provided at almost any other restaurant that I frequent. She knows exactly what the customer needs and she provided phenomenal service.

Rosie's has always been a favorite in our household, but our server Oscar made it that much more today. He was so kind to everyone at the table, making sure we all had plenty to drink and offering to-go drinks, boxes, and bags before asked. He did not rush our visit, and he even surprised me with a birthday sopapilla quietly so I wouldn't be embarrassed (my friend mentioned it was my birthday when I had stepped away). I highly recommend both Oscar and Rosie's.💚🤍❤️

My uncle brought us here while on vacation. I love Mexican food so I was excited to try something new. Once we were seated, our waitress came over and introduced herself. She was pleasant and HILARIOUS. She made our dinner fun and exciting. The food was good. I had fajitas and it was a huge serving. They were delicious and the tortillas were the best I've tasted in a while. My uncle had the raspberry salmon. I tasted the piece and that was yummy too. The kids had a quesadilla and chicken tenders. My mom had the chicken enchiladas and enjoyed them. I would definitely visit again.

Service was decent. Packed inside. Food came out quick. Started with some cheese dip. Cold and gooey. Looks like they didn't microwave it enough. My beer never got to me that I ordered. Had the rosiechangas. Dry chicken. Hard to eat. A little disappointed

Amazing place with excellent Tex-Mex and Margarita's. Always busy but service is excellent and the food is great. Beef Fajita Machos are highly recommended. Authentic surroundings add to the experience.

Husband had fish tacos and loved them! I had fajitas and was expecting them to come sizzling but they were not. Salsa was thick tomato sauce. I was not impressed but my husband loved it! Our wait time and waitress was quick to take our order and serve us and the building was very festive!

This Mexican food was not good. I asked for beef and cheese nachos. I got tons of pico. Food did not taste good. Decent service . Dos Equis was good and cold

Service was nice but this is NOT real authentic Mexican food ! The queso was definitely the cheap queso & salsa out of the store in the glass jars ??Tostitos?? The food had absolutely no flavor, the shrimp fajitas smelled like straight stinky fish. Only giving it 2 stars because of the nice server

The tables were super close to each other. Taco made me feel sick. Ground beef was kind of gross. Service was good speed. Peanut AND Tree-nut friendly.

Food, service and ambiance was amazing. Margarita were great. 10/10 steak fajitas, look forward to trying more

If you are debating the Mexican Lasagna, try it!!! Very tasty and rich. I had a lot of leftovers. Service is always great! We also love the fajitas.

"Vive la Rosie's" Terrific all around. Nice waitstaff and terrific choices. Everything we had was excellent- the usual stuff. Fajitas, enchiladas and burritos. The desert menu looked great. For sure will return again and again.

This is my husband's favorite restaurant in the entire world... and yes he travels a lot. The tortillas and chips are made in house and you can see the machines popping them out. We like this location the best... for some reason it has better food and ambience. My go to orders are the chicken fajita nachos supremo, the chimichanga, and their salads are pretty delicious as well. My husband pretty much always gets the pollo loco but their enchiladas are a close second. There is always a wait despite the restaurant being enormous. It is super family friendly but they also have a full bar. I had the margarita and sangria mix (frozen) and it tasted like vacation. This place is legit and the food is amazing. Do yourself a favor and get the cheese dip.

First time here and we were not disappointed. Showed up at 12:30pm on a Friday which seems to be a busy time, but we were seated right away even having a big party of 6. Our waiter Oscar was the BEST! Very attentive and fast and super friendly. He was on top of everything from drink refills before we ran out to chip baskets and anything we needed. He got our orders 100% correct even having two picky kids who like to take stuff off when ordering. The inside is really big and has a cute atmosphere. We will be back!

Fresh chips and salsa were outstanding- thick salsa that stayed on the chips, mostly. Entrees were good- chimi s and combo but not as distinctive as hoped. House margaritas were good as always. Service was excellent. Ambiance is well ... classic Rosie's great . Chicken tortilla soup was hearty good- meal in itself - mildly spicy

Just alright. I got the Fajita burrito with half steak half shrimp. The peppers and onions weren't cut very well, and they chili con queso sauce that they doused it in was super cheesy and just kind of overwhelming. However, I did go at 5:00 on a Friday, and for a restaurant as big as this to have every table full and still have pretty good service is impressive. All in all, not great but definitely not bad either. Just meh

Rosie's is simply the best around. I can't believe I haven't reviewed Rosie's before! Everything is right about Rosie's from the parking (there is plenty) to the waiting area in the patio courtyard (unless it is raining), their atmosphere, the FRESH chips and salsa, and I've never had a bad meal--it is all fantastic! I highly recommend the Rosiechanga! Your choice--beef or chicken. If you order the evening entree you can try one of each. The flavoring is amazing! The beef is my personal favorite, and you can order it a la cart if you prefer to forgo refried beans and rice. It comes with a bit of lettuce, and a dab of sour cream and guacamole, I believe, and a cup of the delectable yellow cheese queso (whose rightful place is on top of the 'changa). I usually order an extra side of sour cream...that's just my thing. They have a bar if that is your thing. I've never experienced bad service--even when they are slammed. Sometimes the kitchen might be slow, but there is always a steady flow of the best chips and salsa you will find and your drink glass won't be empty. The only reason that I would consider taking away one star is perhaps a small disappointment with the dessert offerings. They don't have flan!? The goodness of Rosie's is simply too overwhelming to take one away, though. Rosie's is one of my absolute favorites in town, and definitely my favorite for the food type.

Pros: ambiance and service Cons: food From first impression, the restaurant is beautiful, the ambiance is great and the service was quick. The food was just so bad. The salsa is pretty sweet, almost like marinara sauce and ironically the white queso tastes like Alfredo sauce. The yellow queso is a little different but not much more than the cheese dip you'd get with nachos at a baseball game. I ordered the tacos, the chicken had no flavor and i honestly couldn't even finish it. I'm not a picky eater in the slightest but it just tasted like canned chicken on a shell. The shells are nice and crunchy but the food was overall bland. My boyfriend ordered the nachos and they were like 8 individually prepared tortilla chips. I've truly never seen anything like it they looked nothing like normal nachos and he wasn't very impressed with them We didn't bring it up to our waiter because I know it's obviously not her fault, we just probably won't be back.

Yummmmyyyyyyy! We were sorely disappointed by Taco Mama around the corner and I lost all home for Mexican food in Alabama. Happy to say that Rosie's restored our faith! We all ordered something different but I was obsessed with the chicken fajitas that my daughter and I shared. The chicken was perfectly cooked and seasoned - so good! The tortillas taste just like the yummy tortillas I buy at the border every time I visit Mexico (we are from AZ). We don't come to Alabama often but we will definitely come back to Rosie's for some really good Mexican food.

First time coming here ( we just moved) definitely will return. I had the lunch combo of beef enchilada and taco with rice and beans. My husband had the pollo loco. Our waiter, Oscar, was on top of everything. He kept our drinks filled.

Terrible, unseasoned food. Salsa tastes like tomato sauce from a can. The ground beef is more appropriate to be served to a dog - lots of gristle, no flavor. Queso is Alfredo sauce. Rice is dripping with excess oil/butter. Likely caters to the local palate well which may explain any reviews over 2 stars. Service is good but there's nothing on the menu I'd be happy with being served. Strong avoid.

Greetings Huntsville!!! I was born and raised in CA been to all the border states in the US and no Mexican Resturaunt can touch this place!!!! The cheese enchiladas are from heaven and the margaritas are off the hook!!!

Every table was full during lunch hour (that alone should tell you something) Our waitress was a delight. Drinks and chips were brought quickly. Our meals came quickly as well, despite the crowd. All was hot and delicious! My friend's grandson encouraged me to dip and sample some of his fries into the cheese dip! Boom! Loved! If you order fries yep! Scrap the ketchup and order the dip!

Wow!!! I've heard about this place for a few years now but haven't been in the Huntsville area until this past week. It's everything I've heard plus some. The shrimp burrito was excellent and the home made tortillas were the best I've ever had. I can't wait to go back.

It's been 20 years since I was here - Rosie's is even better than I remember! It was a busy Thursday evening, we were seated right away and Nicole (our server) was asking for our drink order within minutes. I had the Mexican Lasagna which was a huge portion, piping hot and so delicious. Not going to wait 20 more years to some back

Rosie's has long been one of my favorite places to grab a bite. In my opinion, they have the best Mexican rice in town. It is always flavorful and fluffy. Also, the fried ice cream is to die for. It will literally feed for!

Awesome burritos! I was visiting from out of town and decided to try some Alabama Mexican food.. was not disappointed! Decently priced, large portions and several vegetarian options. They gave us a large bag of chips. Wish I had a spot like this near my home town!

Wow. I mean absolutely blown away by this place. I have been to incredible Tex Mex in my life and Rosie's just blew every single place out of the water. Ordered chicken fajitas and every single component was perfect. Portions in these type of places are typically huge, Rosie's was no exception. What truly made Rosie's stand out though was the homemade tortillas. I think I could eat 10 of these without anything. The atmosphere, service and prices were phenomenal.

We love Rosie's! It is our favorite fajita spot in town. The Mexican lasagna & yellow cheese dip are also favorites. Ordering fajitas is sometimes almost like ordering fast food because they come out to our table so quickly & sizzling just the way we love!

Rosie's on Univeristy drive in Huntsville Is always so crowded. Food is good but bit high priced. Las Trojas is a good alternative!

Went to Rosie's last night....service was poor at best and this morning and I got sick off the food

This is a staple of Huntsville and has been decent/good for ages. This location (instead of the Florence one) is far more consistent. (Last time I had food from Florence, the salsa literally tasted like ketchup.) Service is generally on point, chips are always hot, and the food here is good. It isn't particularly authentic, but if you want something tasty and filling you could do far worse. Note: it can get busy and loud, it's very Americanized, and don't skip the queso

Fast service, large portions, friendly waitstaff. Felt like I had been there before and was treated as an old friend. Definitely will recommend.

First time visiting Rosie's: I was blown away! Best Mexican restaurant I have eaten at in years. Starting off, I arrived at 5:00 on a Friday and the parking lot was already full, so I expected a wait. Was very pleasantly surprised that my party of four was seated right away. (Probably because this place is huge! ) It's decorated like an authentic cantina, complete with string lights. Our server was kind and attentive and seemed to honestly enjoy her job. (This is a rarity nowadays) Started off with a skinny margarita-the best I've ever had. Shared the chicken/beef combo fajitas with my husband. The homemade tortillas were very noticed and appreciated-delicious! Everything about the meal was fresh and outstanding! We moved to Huntsville a month ago and I'll be bringing family and friends to Rosies!

A must visit if you are in Huntsville. True authentic Mexican food and atmosphere. Service is always top notch. Cold beer. Food comes out fast is hot and fresh.

I just had great Mexican food at Rosie's. I was here last week, Jen was my waitress. She is so nice and professional, my glass was never empty. I asked for her section. The service and food was really good. I am glad to see that Rosie's has survived COVID. Thank you for not raising prices and serving the same quality and quantity. God Bless your business

Rosie's Mexican Cantina is the standard for other Mexican restaurants here in Huntsville. If you enjoy authentic Mexican cuisine, this is the place! With plenty of parking, AND sometimes a lengthy wait, Rosie's is well worth it. Great service, free chips and salsa (unlimited), and great margaritas are just the start! The menu is huge, and feel free to order à la carte! The food comes piping hot and your drinks will remain topped off by the staff. If you are in a hurry, the bar area is quick and efficient with a ton of libations to choose from! If you are a couple, I would highly recommend the Fajitas for Two! This dish is absolutely delicious, and you will not walk away hungry. If you love authentic Mexican cuisine, stop in and give them a try. Happy Eats!

A very merry and festive place. Tons of people, so it must be good. I thought it was. Had the Chalupa Chalupa. One was supposed to be chicken, but both beef. They were good. The waiter could have been more responsive. I got a side order of queso, so I ran out of chips and he didn't offer me more. Oh well,I was pretty full at that point. Good Mexican restaurant.

I was there yesterday. Food was terrible, service was even worse. They call this fried piece of cold fish a fish taco? That'll be the last time I ever go there, for sure. What a ripoff. I'd give them NO stars if it were an option.

The queso blanco dipping sauce is 5 stars. I could eat a bowl of it with a spoon for dinner. A lot of Tex-Mex style options.

Yummy yummayyyyyy!! I came to Huntsville just for the day, and boy am I glad I stopped here for dinner! Pleasant decor, friendly and fast service, delicious meals, and great location. If I'm ever in town again, I'd make a stop here for sure!

DO NOT ORDER TAKEOUT! NEVER WILL I EVER EVER AGAIN! $17 for this tiny pan. As you can tell in the bottom of the pan, you can see the bottom so you can just tell how little rice and cheese was in there then the chicken wasn't even cut up! Never will I order from here again. Ridiculous for $17

Amazing! Great food, atmosphere and service! It's a must go to in HSV. I had the enchiladas. The salsa is also very good.

Good was food but I have never had a chimichanga without a sauce of some kind on it, kind of dry. no suggestions from the bartenders for anything. They were so busy doing other things they did not spend any time with there guests.

Rosie's was a welcomed and needed meal. It felt like most good Mexican restaurants in Texas. The food was legitimately very good. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly. The service was top notch and the atmosphere was nice. We waited for a little bit at the bar and ordered some adult beverages. They served us some chips and salsa. Then we got a table after 10 minutes. From there the experience just got better. Everything was awesome from the Queso to the fried ice cream. Highly recommend Rosie's.
