How I Deal With Stereotypes, Judgment, and Prying Questions As a Queer Traveler

"While camping by an alpine lake in the North Cascades, the author and his husband set up their tent next to other groups and were visibly the only two men sharing a tent; although some nearby campers appeared uncomfortable, the couple prioritized safety and personal boundaries and chose to tune others out as long as no one bothered them, illustrating a practical approach to enjoying outdoor adventures as queer travelers." - Lance Garland

This lake is absolutely beautiful! We went to the Ross Lake Overlook trail, walked down to the phone, called for a pick up and waited by the lake. The speed boat ($4 one way per person) picked us up and took us to Ross Lake Resort where we walked around the resort and then took the trail back around the lake and back up to the trailhead. Total hike/walk was 5 miles. Beautiful views!!! Highly recommend!

Amazing blue water and beautiful scenery. The lake is great for kayaking or paddle boarding. The water is a bit cold some days. There are many trails near and camping sites.
