"Lakeside Cultural Center, Restaurant and Bar This silk mill turned cultural center on Lake Zurich’s left bank hosts over a hundred concerts, parties and festivals a year and is home to 60 art studios. It’s also a popular bar, especially come summer, when locals flock to the communal outdoor tables steps from the water’s edge (a favorite place to sit is in one of the handful of old-school ski lifts for prime views of the Alps). The setting is colorful and edgy—graffiti everywhere, plants shooting out from clawfoot bathtubs—a rarity so far from Kreis 4 and 5. Photo © Christian Beutler/Zürich Tourismus."

I've loved this place since I first visited in 1980. Over my several visits to Zürich since then, I always try to make it out to that side of the lake to see what's on. This large, old silk factory and grounds on the shore of the Zürichsee has had experimental music, performance art, and multi media installations by local and international artists for a long time running. They also offer artist residencies. Whether there's a specific event or if you just want to hang out in an incredibly chill environment on the lake, Rote Fabrik is your spot.

Loved it, everything is perfect. We jumped and near there is a lake nearby, free entry and countless activities! Please visit some time it's excellent.

Small and cool alt art space. There was a free screening of an experimental film/music piece.

Total highlight of my stay in Zurich. I took the boat from Bürkliplatz to Wollishofen on a glorious sunny day. From the dock, I strolled along the lake to Rote Fabrik which has such a cool vibe and lots of murals/street art etc. There are also numerous cafes and restaurants there. I kept walking along the Cassiopeiasteg further down the lake until I got to Fischer's Fritz for a wonderful lunch right by the lake. It's a great local experience - I'm not sure I saw any tourists while I was there.

An interesting, free-spirited open space right by the lake. You will notice a bunch of graffiti walls as soon as you enter. But within those buildings are also some theatres, studios cafes etc. It looks like this place would hold small concerts and shows in summer time

À post-industrial hipster venue in an old industrial facility with performance spaces, restaurant etc. By the water. Of course enjoyment will depend on the event you go to see. The bar in the theatre bizarrely only takes cash.

Very cool community art and restaurant space beautiful located on the water. Just took a stroll through here on the way to the boardwalk. Next time I will stop for lunch as I walked by everything people were ordering looked good.

Great place to tap into the city's alternative vibe, creative use of the space for artistic shows, workshops and decent food with a good view on the lake.

Yelp
Cool spot, accidentally stumbled upon it while we were on our way to dinner. We ended up eating here instead, and we sat outside although the weather was about to turn rainy - the big overhanging umbrellas above the tables were much appreciated. The menu is hand-written, and we had to go inside to get drinks (got a tea). For our meal, we shared a fish dish which came with potatoes and bok choy as well as lentil patties. Both dishes had flavors that were fresh, light, tasty, could've done with more flavor though. Had tiramisu and panna cotta for dessert too, although the latter was a bit oddly laid out in squares on a plate. Tiramisu had moist cake but an overload of cream. Meal was quite pricey since Switzerland and all, came out to be around $80 for two, friendly staff.

Yelp
Loved this place! If the restaurant was still open when we were there, this would likely be a 5 star review. Nonethess, I was hungry, there was no food, yet I'm still giving it 4 stars. That should mean something. The reason why this place was so special is that it was a little off the beaten path. If you are visiting in Zurich and have some more time to explore and relax, I would highly recommend. There are patio seats that overlook Lake Zurich, and it is absoutely exquisite. The graffiti art-lined walls in the background and the "hipster" vibe is slightly ironic as we're sitting next to one of most pristine and beautiful bodies of water in the country. Anyway, lovely place to come on a summer day to relax and enjoy yourself.
