Rothenburger Reiterlesmarkt

The most romantic, beautiful and unique christmas market in whole of Europe (if not the world). The glittering, inviting food and craft stalls surrounded by mideval buildings will leave a lasting impression on any visitor. All other cities setup christmas markets during December but this little town is actually a Christmas market itself during the festive season. Even the permanent shops have bedazzling lights and beautiful Christmas decorations and showcase unique products. I am completely amazed by the beauty. During the day, day trippers swarm the place but the quietness and charm of this old town can be truly experienced during the quiet nights when most of the crowd thins away. An over night stay is highly recommended.

So far, my absolute favorite town in Germany. It’s like going into a fairy tale movie! The detail and architecture of every building is unique and flawless. Christmas lighting and decor is enchanting. The smells of all the restaurants is exquisite and mouth watering. Put it on your bucket list! It’s a must.

Having Käthe Wohlfahrt Christmas Market as the highlights of Rothenburger, Rothenburger Reiterlesmarkt is then relatively dim. Basically the stalls of Christmas market are spreading around the old city hall building, 5-story in brownish themed colors, built in 1337, the architecture of the building is another highlight. Pretty much the town is decorated with Christmas elements, but not in the way that you'll be amazed, while if you take a stroll of the town you'll find some corners with very delicate decorations, go and hunt for your own Christmas treasure !!!

Beautiful, small but well worth a visit

We bought some lovely Christmas ornaments, walked the ancient cobblestone streets, and in a museum crawled down into a torture dungeon. It was the full range of experiences.
