We came here after touring the Sculptureum based on the recommendation of the staff at the Sculptureum and hearing they’d just received their first hat and this was easily one of the best meals we’ve ever had! The service, attention to detail, care, and amazing flavors were just amazing. The option on the menu to “Just feed me” is a great way to take the pressure off and let the staff and chef provide a meal that every guest can enjoy. The chef came out to talk and explain each dish and we watched him do this for each table. This kind of connection and his care and sharing his skill set this dining experience as a life-long high point. The octopus was the most tender and flavorful ever. The flatbread had an almost creamy texture all by itself and just lovely flavor even before spreading the non-dairy butter substitute provided for one of our diners due to allergies, and the spread was wonderful as well. We’re still talking about this lunch experience a week later. Thank you to the owners, the chef, and the great staff!

Had their potato hash and claypot beef. Claypot beef was amazing, bone marrow was fatty and full of flavour and accompanying with the claypot beef saffron rice. Really enjoy it. The potato hash was also very unique and crispy and flavourful. Im giving lower in score due to that I see birds hopping around tables on clean plates where people are going to eat off, this feels unhygienic and is a health hazard. I think what they should do is, only bring out the plates when the customers arrive and seated.

Food was great although the menu limited for kids. They had chicken nuggets and fries. Everyone in party was happy. The sculpture garden inside and outside was a treat and worth visiting. Would go back and owners were super nice.

Went for the Rothko x Serai collaboration, excited to explore the concept and food. The dishes were well-prepared and flavorful, but overall the event felt a bit exclusive. Unfortunately, the main courses weren’t introduced or explained. The tables behind and beside us were asked if someone had explained their mains, but we were left unattended, so we ended up guessing what we were eating—which took away from the overall experience. A great concept with a lot of potential, but it could definitely benefit from more attention to the guest experience.

Food master piece - such a tastefully put together menu. We had the chefs choice for two and were served 8 delicious courses. The quality was incredible, it’s awesome to have a place like this in the region. The service was top notch, with knowledgeable staff on both the food and the wine list and had a cozy feel with the fire burning. Thanks Rothko team for a great evening.

The New Years Banquet at Rothko is the single best dining experience I've ever had in my life. The dishes were incredibly creative, filled with many unusual things that you wouldn't think work - but they were all delicious. The cassava cake was the favourite of the night. The chefs are incredibly talented and friendly and the wait staff attentive and kind. Plus the Sculterium is world class. Thank you all!

My partner and I went for dinner here to celebrate our engagement and it was exceptional. We tried so many new foods, all of which we thoroughly enjoyed, and the service was very friendly. A great location too! Would highly recommend the ‘Feed Me’ menu. We will be back!

Absolutely amazing food, very creative and you can tell the ingredients are high quality. The snacks were divine, highly recommend ordering some of those and the team catered extremely well to my wife being vegetarian and gluten free. We will be back ASAP.

Yelp
Located in a low key setting amongst the gardens, the restaurant is a real gem. The service is knowledgeable, attentive and professional. The real highlight are the flavors in the food. All of the lunches are served as gourmet bento boxes, with a choice of meat, fish or vegetarian for $55. There were a few other options for smaller plates if you just wanted a snack, and they put together a kids portion of a chicken meatball and rice but otherwise no kid options. But back to the highlight, the flavors are awesome and each bite is a taste explosion. The silky tofu with an aged onion garnish/sauce was the biggest surprise. The short rib beef was probably the tastiest along with the tuna. Great spot if you are visiting the sculptureum or looking for a really lovely meal in a non pretentious setting.

Yelp
During our visit to the Sculptureum, we noticed this very hip and busy restaurant. After seeing the gallery and gardens, we decided to pop in for some wine and light dining. When we arrived, the restaurant was fully booked so our only option was to sit outside at a shaded picnic table where we could order wine and small bites. I ordered the Laurent-Perrier Champagne and my better half ordered the Mahi Chardonnay from the Marlborough region. He said the Chardonnay was fantastic. For small bites, we indulged and had the Mahurangi oysters (natural) with a shallot mignonette. They were absolutely outstanding! I believe these were the best oysters I have ever had. We also ordered the shoestring potatoes with truffle oil and parmesan. The staff were all attentive and welcoming. It was a great experience. Next time we will make a reservation so we can dine in the restaurant and have a greater selection of food options.
