Musée des Beaux-Arts de Rouen

This museum was extremely calm and quiet... I visited with a friend, and even when we spoke in whispers, our voices felt noticeable, which really highlighted the peaceful atmosphere... There are many spaces to sit and relax, with small seats, benches, and chairs throughout the museum... While I was there, a woman was playing the piano beautifully. The music was very soothing, and I enjoyed it so much that I stayed for about 30 minutes just listening... The paintings are truly wonderful...I took some photos, but I’m not sharing the best ones so that you can visit and experience it for yourself... Most importantly, this is a free museum you can simply walk in, sit for a while, and enjoy your time... The restrooms are also very clean and well maintained...

The Musée des Beaux-Arts de Rouen is a wonderful gift 🎁 that the city offers to visitors with a love for fine art 🎨. My advice is to arrive right when the museum opens ⏰ so you can enjoy a peaceful wander through the beautiful galleries spread across two floors. I apologize to the admirers of Impressionism, but for me the true gem of the collection 💎 is Caravaggio’s Christ at the Column. I’m grateful to the museum team for allowing me to immerse myself — completely free of charge 🙏 — in the grace and beauty of this exceptional institution.

I was extremely impressed with this museum, it was free and I could’ve easily experienced a similar-quality museum in the states for $15-25. They had a Monet painting of the local Rouen cathedral, which was very surreal after seeing the cathedral in person that day. The wide range of paintings, sculptures, vintage furniture and more surrounded by gorgeous architecture was amazing

One of the best well organized museums I’ve visited. Almost in every room there is a sitting area, so the visitors can take a break from walking and standing, also allow ppl to take their time to enjoy the art. The map and marks are very clear to follow. The whole experience is easy, no rush and delightful, The collections of the impressionist arts are impressive. And it’s free entrance! Highly highly recommended.

Beautiful fine arts museum; free entrance, open daily from 10 AM. It has 2 floors; some exhibitions are paid. Amazing beautiful hall at the ground floor with 3 huge pictures made by Dufy, other big pictures and many statues. The museum houses works of famous painters and sculptors; some decorations are also on display. 1-2 hours. Highly reccomended!

A little-known museum that is truly surprising for the quality of its works by Impressionists such as Monet, Renoir, Lebourg, as well as Corot and Daubigny. Everything is free, and the staff is extremely helpful and welcoming. I will definitely come back to spend hours there.

Un vrai trésor insolite! What a wonderful Sunday surprise to find a museum with free (!!) entry, no crowds, and room upon room of abundant chefs d'oeuvre from artists ranging from local stars like Bouton and Zacharie to luminaries such as Renoir, Sisley, Velasquez and Caravaggio. Cherries on top were the absolutely lovely and helpful staff (including the delightful staff member with the gorgeous earring 💜 and the coupe casquette) and the excellent selection in the shop. Also, there's a grand piano you can play surrounded by great art — what a treat!!We'll be back!

Two fortunate things happened when I came here. Firstly the computers were down so we got in for free, and secondly they had an exhibition on a group of impressionists. In fact a lot of paintings that I didn't see in the Mussee d'Orsay weren't there because they happened to be here. While the exhibition (or exposition as they say it in French) was impressive, the rest of the museum was doubly so. In fact the museum is not only quite large, but also has a pretty decent collection of paintings, and other works of art, as well. In fact it can be easy to get lost. Unfortunately, not all of the halls were open, which was a bit of a shame, but we did get to see quite a lot.

I enjoyed visiting this museum, and it's impressive temporary impressionist art exhibit that was part of the Normany Impressionist Festival in August of 2013. (And as we walked through the exhibit, my husband whispered "Monet, Monet, Monet, Monet - Mo-ne!" to the tune of the song "Money".) There are 2 floors to the museum, and my husband & I explored the beautiful permanent art exhibits as well. It takes an hour or so to get through everything.
