Row Venice

Row Venice was such a fun and unique experience! It’s definitely a bit of a workout, but that’s part of what made it so memorable. We really enjoyed learning how to row ourselves instead of just sitting back for a quick ride. The instructors were patient, encouraging, and made the whole experience engaging. It felt so much more authentic and rewarding than simply being rowed around for 30 minutes. A great way to experience Venice from the canals!

Row Venice was the highlight of our time in Venice. For a price similar to the gondolas on the main canal you get a more authentic, interactive, informative, and longer experience. Our guide Anna not only shared the history of how Venice was founded and how to row a boat on the canal, but also the unique perspective of what it is like to live in modern Venice. I would recommend to anyone traveling in Venice as an experience that will give memories that last a lifetime.

We had an amazing experience learning to row Venetian style with our instructor, Viola. She was very knowledgeable, fun and welcoming. We had the opportunity to try rowing in a calm, relaxed, quiet portion of Venice away from the craziness of the Grand Canal. Would highly recommend!!

Our rowing lesson was definitely one of the most fun things we did in Venice. My wife and I took the lesson together and beyond the rowing, it was just fun to be on the canals for almost and hour and a half and learn a lot about the history and culture of Venetian rowing. Our instructor Elena, was very patient and honestly provided most of the power while I rowed. We highly recommend Row Venice.

I found out about this experience on Reddit when Googling around things to do on my solo trip to Venice. It seemed like a good deal and a fun memory to make for myself. I had my gondola rowing lesson today and had so much fun! My lesson was completely private, just me and my teacher on the boat. We went through different canals and she explained a lot of history to me as well as taught me proper techniques and even took pictures and videos of me rowing. She told me that Row Venice is all women, which made me even happier that I booked because i love to support other women! This was such a fun experience and so memorable. I highly recommend it!

Navigating our own gondola through the peaceful, picturesque canals of Venice was absolutely magical — it truly doesn’t get better than this. Our instructor, Angelica, was wonderful. She shared not only her expert rowing techniques but also her personal stories and passion as a true Venetian. An authentic and unique way to see Venice — highly recommended!

A truly unforgettable experience — especially for the kids! We had an amazing time with Row Venice and it turned out to be one of the highlights of our trip! Our instructor Anna was absolutely wonderful — warm, cheerful, and so patient with the kids. She explained everything clearly and made us feel completely at ease. But the best part? The kids were rowing the entire time! They absolutely loved it — they felt like real gondoliers and had the biggest smiles throughout. It was fun, hands-on, and something they’ll never forget. We all enjoyed it so much, and I highly recommend it for families — but honestly, it’s great for everyone. A perfect way to experience Venice from the canals, in a unique and authentic way.

So I was really nervous about doing this as I'm unfit and it was super hot, but one of our party had booked this predominantly as it is a women owned and women led business. Lisa our guide/teacher was absolutely fantastic. She was funny, knowledgeable, patient and just so encouraging the four of us had the best time and made memories to last a life time. Thank you ❤️

Paola was delightful and a patient teacher of rowing. Even with years of sculling, my son took a little coaching to pick up the movement. Once he did, he said it was no more strenuous than walking. Paola guided the boat around some lovely, quiet parts of Venice as our son powered the boat.

Absolute highlight of our multiweek honeymoon in Italy. I'm so glad we did this. This was so much fun to do. I loved being able to tool around the canals of Venice with my husband and to see the city from the lagoon. It made the rest of the day sparkle, and I would 100% do it again when next in Venice. The analysis is simple. Eighty Euros for a 30 minute or so trip on a gondola for two (guys, it might destroy romance as we know it, but it costs more for singing to happen in boats apparently) or for the SAME PRICE a 90 minute lesson on a gondola where you can get people to sing for free! The administration of booking was painless on our end, and demonstrated really good customer service on Row Venice's side. Once we knew this was a thing, we reached out to book a session. They were able to email us back, in English, and helped to troubleshoot my inability to book and pay through the website the first time around. They were very patient with us and our lack of wifi and accommodated our last minute reservation. We lucked out and had two instructors and both were really friendly and personal. I also really appreciated how there were multiple couples who had all booked at the same time and each of us got our own gondola and instructor. Final props is that this place is a nonprofit entity that supports rowing culture in Venice. Support this group when you're next in Venice. It'll be a really fun day in a really beautiful town.

You MUST try this when you're in Venice! Why pay $80-100 euros for a 40 minute ride when you can row like a Venetian for 90 minutes for the same or less money? Elena was an excellent instructor, the boat was beautiful, she took us on calm, secluded canals away from the crowds. It was so much fun, my girlfriend loved it. To top it all off, the money goes to help sustain the local rowing community, thru races, training, and athlete programs. Thank you, Elena, and Row Venice! Caio!

We thoroughly enjoyed rowing through Venice canals. Our tour guide was very sweet and gave us several tips about rowing AND Venice in general. It was a fun way to get to know a local Venetian too. Would do it again if we visit Venice int he future. Thanks for a fun day!

A great way to experience Venice is by taking a Venetian rowing lesson! My husband and I really enjoyed our experience with Lisa. She was exceptionally patient and provided us with knowledgable background on the Venetian rowing culture and history. Definitely consider taking a rowing lesson if you are in Venice as it was a unique experience! I would suggest booking the lesson in the cooler time of the day!
