Fantastic experience. Staff were friendly, kind and provided clear communication, including being able to stamp the WHW passports. We booked well in advance. The views were stunning of the loch and this is a perfect location both for the WHW, but also for walking up Ben Lomond. The food was good, although if you are looking for spice do bring your own seasoning. The evening meals were good and so were the lunches and breakfasts. All the facilities were clean, wifi was available and the room was perfect for having a good nights sleep!

This is a Youth Hostel, former hunting lodge located on the edge of Loch Lomond. The location is a beautiful setting and the building is very in keeping with an old hunting lodge style. I arrived before it opened at 4 pm and tested the cold waters of the Loch. It is serviced by a ferry on weekends and also has parking. I stayed in a clean 3 bunk bed female dorm room. Showers were clean. There was a kitchen where you could prepare your own food available to the tenters as well. You could order dinner, breakfast and a packed lunch if you were heading up the Loch on the West Highland Way the next day. Lunch was a sandwhich, crisps, water and an assortment of cookies and chocolate treats. Access to the breakfast foods consisting of toast, jam, cereals and yogurt could have been set out in a more organized manner. The coffee was good though. The best part of this place was the large common living room complete with 2 large picture windows overlooking the Loch. The room was also stocked with books, games, wall maps and historical photos of the Lodge. If you are into staying at Youth Hostels and love buildings with character and fantastic views, then this is for you.

After what felt like the longest day ever hiking it was a relief to get into the hostel. Unfortunately we were too late for dinner but the front desk has some options behind the counter. Cup O Noodles hit the spot. Everything is super clean and the staff on site are very helpful. We had a lovely view of Loch Lomond and after a long day hiking the cold water was very refreshing. Breakfast is very nice and we had a packed lunch for the next day of hiking. That was very refreshing to eat on the shore of the loch.

This was my first hostel stay and I found it amazing. Walking the west highland way and this Hostel was directly on the path with the most amazing views of Loch lomand. I had under estimated how long that section of the journey would take me and I ended up arriving as the sun went down. I called the Hostel to explain i was very late and tired, they made sure the cook saved me a dinner and was so kind to me when I walked in extremely exhausted and hungry. My shared room was comfy and showers warm and clean. I only wished I could've stayed longer to fully experience the amazing location and kind hospitality!

Stayed here on my second night of hiking the WHW. This hostel is so fabulous! Even if you’re not doing the hike it’s so beautiful to stay there and enjoy the calmness of the lake. They serve dinner. You can choose from different options. There is also a fully equipped kitchen you can prepare your own meals. Just skip the 3d day of hiking and go straight to tyndrym, you will save your knees and exhausting days of hiking!

Amazing location right on the West Highland Way. Fantastic lounge area with beautiful views over the Loch. Food was okay- nothing fancy but good value. We stayed in private rooms with shared bathrooms. If you can, ask for a Lake view room - our friends had an amazing room with a lake view. Ours was much smaller, quite dark and with no view - there's definitely a wide mix of rooms, all at the same price. Highly recommended though for the location alone.

Very reasonable pricing, a quiet location (surprising for a hostel!) and better rooms than one would expect from a hostel. Ample food for breakfast, located right along the Way. Tracy, one of the employees, was so kind to me and my cousin and even gave us some extra bandages for our achy feet. Thank you for everything!

Stopped here for the third night of the whw. The position of the hostel is clearly amazing, as it's right on the path. The staff are incredibly nice. Dinner and breakfast were both really good. Rooms and toilets are clean. Would definitely recommend. Beware of the midges.
