Rowardennan Lodge Youth Hostel

Amazing location right on the West Highland Way. Fantastic lounge area with beautiful views over the Loch. Food was okay- nothing fancy but good value. We stayed in private rooms with shared bathrooms. If you can, ask for a Lake view room - our friends had an amazing room with a lake view. Ours was much smaller, quite dark and with no view - there's definitely a wide mix of rooms, all at the same price. Highly recommended though for the location alone.

Stopped here for the third night of the whw. The position of the hostel is clearly amazing, as it's right on the path. The staff are incredibly nice. Dinner and breakfast were both really good. Rooms and toilets are clean. Would definitely recommend. Beware of the midges.

The youth hostel is beautifully located by Loch Lomond and serves as an ideal stop on the West Highland Way. We stayed in a double room. The room was tidy, clean, and equipped with a washbasin. We decided to have dinner on-site, as after the challenging stage, we were glad not to have to search for something else. The dinner was hearty, simple, and delicious. The breakfast was very basic, but I didn’t expect more in a hostel. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. A definite recommendation!

Rowardennen Lodge is in the most beautiful location on the loch shore. Great beer options for tired hikers and wonderfully friendly staff to welcome you. The hostel was so clean and comfortable, and the packed lunch they provided for our next day's walk was truly great. The kitchen is very well equipped but a full three course meal is also available at the canteen. My second time staying at the hostel, but not the last!

This youth hostel had great facilities, fridges to use, clean toilets, great continental breakfast, cheery and friendly staff and a beautiful lounge area not to be missed. The only reason this is not a 5 star review is that there was NO hot water for a shower after a 15 mile day a warm shower would of been lovely but we were not made aware of this key point. Otherwise a great stay.

What a spectacular location directly on Loch Lomond with the hills and the West Highland Way right behind. Otherwise it is of course a youth hostel, so it's bunkbeds and shared bathrooms and simple breakfasts, but all fine. The room was quite a bit smaller than the one we had in Edinburgh but is okay for a short stay. It also had a stunning lounge with big comfy sofas and cozy window seats. The Loch itself is beautiful for swimming (only initially cold). We had dinner a short walk away at the Clansman, which we enjoyed very much (great steak & ale pie).

After a very cold night ‘under canvas’ the youth hostel came to our rescue at the last minute ! Every single member of staff was super friendly and helpful and the location is just beautiful. We stayed in a shared bunk room, pillows & duvets included, luxury ! |The showers were hot & clean and there was an excellent choice for breakfast in the morning. I would thoroughly recommend you stay here whilst walking the WHW 🌟 |Thank you Rowardennan Youth Hostel !

Perfect location and perfect view. The rooms are clean and comfortable. We made dinner in the kitchen, and the children loved the board games in the lounge. Perfect stay after a day’s hiking.
