Review: United Places Botanic Gardens, Melbourne - SilverKris

"A large, verdant expanse described as lush and vivacious, these gardens sit directly across the street from the hotel and provide sweeping green vistas that many rooms are designed to showcase, contributing a calm, natural counterpoint to the city’s inner-south energy." - Wilson Liew

Really enjoyed the walk around the gardens with the variety of plants, birds and the lovely scenery. Plenty of shaded areas for shelter from the afternoon heat that we experienced with drinking water and toilet facilities available throughout the area. Signage was excellent for the many paths we came across and for finding our way back to the city.

A true green oasis in the middle of the city, this place offers a peaceful escape from the busy urban atmosphere. There are many different birds to see, which makes it especially enjoyable for nature lovers. The wide grassy areas are perfect for sitting down, relaxing, and having a cozy picnic. Very good maps and easy accessibility. It is definitely worth a visit and can be easily combined with a trip to the Shrine of Remembrance nearby. Overall, it’s a lovely spot to unwind, enjoy nature, and take a break from sightseeing.

We recently visited Royal Botanic Gardens Melbourne and it was such a beautiful, relaxing family outing — and completely free. The lotus flowers are currently in bloom and the Oriental Lake looks stunning, filled with soft pinks, whites and lush greenery. It’s the perfect spot for a slow wander, taking in the scenery and enjoying some downtime together as a family. We spent time strolling along the paths, relaxing on the grass, grabbing a coffee from the café and letting the kids explore the children’s garden, which is easily one of the best in Melbourne. It’s thoughtfully designed, engaging and a great space for kids to move, play and discover. The lotus blooms only last for a short time, so it’s a lovely excuse for a picnic or gentle walk. You can also take a punt on the lake to see the flowers up close from the water, which adds something special to the visit. A peaceful, beautiful space that’s perfect for families, couples or anyone needing a calm break in the city. Highly recommend visiting while the lotus flowers are in bloom.

Lovely gardens. Very peaceful. One thing that made me impression were the many dogs and their owners- something usually not allowed in other countries around the world as the dogs might make a mess around the plants. The cactuses on the East part of the garden were impressive. The Children garden was a real oasis for peace. There is even a hidden bamboo garden. The Observatory is also here.

Entry to the park is free. We spent a wonderful two hours walking through this beautiful park—if we’d had more time, we would have stayed longer. Very relaxing and a must-visit when you’re in Melbourne.

Google
What a lovely, tranquil part of Melbourne. The gardens are stunning and full of Australian plant life as well as many species from other neighbouring countries. The walk is relatively easy. There are some inclines but plenty of shaded seating to give your legs a rest amongst the flora and fauna. Even experienced a floating garden in the middle of the lake. The movement was surreal.

Google
I strongly recommend to visit the Royal Botanic Garden Victoria at Melbourne. It’s truly one of the best Botanic Gardens I have visited. Weather is awesome and cooling during summer with warming sunshine. People just laz around the park, sit down on the grass/mat for a picnic. There are so many kinds of interesting plants, flowers and trees and it’s fascinating. We enjoyed ourselves a lot but the park is really huge and you would probably need at least 2.5-3.0 hrs to cover all the area by casual walk. Next time when I’m back at Melbourne, I will surely go back there again.

The Royal Botanic Gardens is a place I truly love. The garden prioritizes natural ecosystems, creating a calm and refreshing environment rather than an overly artificial one. Its location near the Shrine of Remembrance makes it feel seamlessly connected, as if history and nature blend into one space. Overall, this is a wonderful tourism ecosystem, peaceful, meaningful, and a place I always enjoy visiting.

Yelp
This review concerns the Aboriginal Heritage Walk. We took our walk with Jakobi--who was outstanding! His discusssion of the native plants and their functional utility was impressive. He educated us about the Aboriginal Nation, its tribes, and clans and their relationship to the environment. The climax of the walk was the invitation to share with intentionality in the smoke ceremony. Well, worth your time and effort if you want to better understand climate change.

Yelp
RBGV is a nearly 200 yr old massive oasis in Melbourne. There is so much to see and do here in a tranquil environment. Best of all, its free! We saw people walking their dogs, sitting on the grass, and just walking around & enjoying the sights like us. The place is super clean, and we didn't see any rubbish. We spent about 2 hrs here, and we saw roughly half of the total area. If you visit Melbourne, and enjoy the outdoors, RBGV is for you.

Yelp
The Royal Botanical Gardens are a nice little retreat from the hustle and bustle of Melbourne. It's easy to get there by crossing the bridge at Flinder's Street Station. The best part is that it's free to the public. There's so much nature to get lost in, whether it's a walk while talking to a friend, or a moment of solitude. There are small waterfalls, a lily pond, and a plethora of beautiful flowers. You can easily walk for a long time.

Yelp
We came here in the evening for their annual event-Lightscape. There are color-changing installations, soundscapes and large-scale illuminated sculptures. There is food and drinks available to purchase along the way too. It was a 2km walk, which was congested at certain points. I thought the event was just ok. Maybe better for families with kids.

Yelp
If you like nature, walking or just need a break from the city the RBG can't be missed. We enjoyed it so much that we spent our whole morning here, and walked for miles. I was especially impressed with the beautiful camellias and the giant ficus trees. Paths wind through different landscapes and circle several ponds. You'll see and hear a ton of different birds - I had hoped to spot a possum but sadly didn't. There are plenty of clean toilets scattered throughout along with water bottle fillers.

Yelp
Not too shabby of a garden, wouldn't mind this in my backyard at all. Nice and aromatic rose gardens. Who doesn't like roses or the scent of them. Nice garden to take a slow stroll and take a breather.

Yelp
A wonderful garden with many pathways to lead you in and around the collections. The plants were interesting, many in full bloom but we found the birds to be the highlight of our visit. There was one tree with red blooms that was teaming with rainbow lorikeets. You coudn't miss the tree from the birds' loud calling to each other and then when you focused in, there they were in their colorful plumage. There are restrooms throughout the gardens as well as water fountains. A pleasant place to spend a few hours.

Yelp
While you can find botanic gardens almost any place you travel to, the RBG in Melbourne are quite impressive. The area is massive, spanning many miles. You can walk and walk and not even see it all because there are so many little areas to walk into and explore. You may want to explore it by bike so that you can see more. The grass is green and the flowers are vibrant. The Shrine of Remembrance is a unique area to check out and get a higher view of the city. It was really nice just walking around here for a few hours, taking in nature and allowing ourselves to be mellow.

Yelp
Few cities on earth have anything quite as magical at the Royal Botanical Gardens in Melbourne. This garden is the centrepiece of an amazing green stretch of parks in the heart of the city. The space is free of charge to enter, and there are plenty of wide, easy-to-walk paths throughout the park. Come here to enjoy a huge variety of Australian plant life, from tiny flowers to giant trees. This is a great place for photography, walking, and enjoying nature.

Yelp
Gorgeous place to go for a walk with so much to see, bring lots of water.
