The Best Cruise Lines for Solo Travelers

"Royal Caribbean has more single cruise cabins than the average cruise line. Half of the ships in its fleet offer solo cabins, but if you’re looking for a private balcony, you’ll want to book the Anthem of the Seas, Quantum of the Seas, Ovation of the Seas, Harmony of the Seas, Spectrum of the Seas or the line's newest ship, Odyssey of the Seas."

Wow, wow, wow. What an incredible experience and great promotion that kids sail for free. Super friendly staff members, and there's always something to do for everyone. The food is great, and they have all the alcohol selections you can think of. They have great hours for the buffet and really great quality. We will definitely be back again.

Awesome cruise line. Rooms were nice. Lots of drawers to tuck your items away. The service was excellent and the workers were very helpful and friendly.

Very affordable and good quality experience overall. Definitely would recommend for first timers, those on a budget, and/or those that want a quick and high quality getaway. Tips to save money: The Wi-Fi is expensive, so you can save money if one person in your group pays for 1 device and turns on their hotspot on their phone to share the internet with everyone else. You can use the app on the free wi-fi to communicate with each other as well without paying for the Internet package. For eating, all the food around the clock in the Buffet (deck 11), cafe (deck 5), tacos/nachos/quesadillas (pool deck), etc are all free and included with your boarding passes already, no need to go to fancy or side restaurants unless if you want to spend money. The main dining (requires reservations typically) is also free but will charge you 18-20% on your cruise bill when eating there (roughly $18-20 charged for two people for each visit to the main dining so it can stack up fast). For shows and activities on board (shows, ice skating, etc), make sure to reserve them as soon as they are available to do so, or show up at least 30 min before the event/show starts to get a seat/spot. As for excursions, look up hikes and local tours on the travel websites (like TravelAdvisor or Expedia) to save money. Just pay for a cheap taxi/ride share to get to where you need to go if you don't want to pay $100+ to go with a group and do your own thing.

There was nothing royal abt this experience. It started off w/the disabled confined in wheelchairs being pushed 2 an area behind a screen where they were dependent upon an employee 2 get them onto the ship. The system lacked an organization where guests weren't taken in the order in which they were received. Employees argued amongst themselves 4 all 2 hear abt where the disabled needed 2 be so that they "wouldn't be in the way!" God forbid if u ask what the process is in order 2 ensure fairness in getting the guests onboard in the order in which they were received because RC staff will remind u w/an attitude that you're all on vacation, and if u don't like the process then bring ur own wheelchair or RC staff can arrange 4 u 2 remain behind by threatening 2 call security over a simple question abt fairness in boarding the ship. After all, the vacation doesn't start in the boarding area, and nobody wants 2 sit baby in the corner! Once onboard, it's all abt maritime law & the kids who run the ship. RC staff had little 2 no control over the vast # of children running amuck causing hazards by running aimlessly & knocking into guests w/o any adult supervision. Apparently, on RC, it's perfectly acceptable 4 children 2 run amuck w/o any adult supervision, so this is definitely a Diddler's delight! And let's not 4get the numerous parents sitting in the bars or @ the bars w/children in their laps or even sitting on their own barstools as if it's a Diddy Diddler event! It's never a good idea 2 allow children around adults who are boozing it up, but that's definitely the norm on Royal Caribbean; so, if ur looking 2 party @ the bar & can't afford childcare, RC is the place 2 b and it's all free b/c children sail free w/a paying adult! Despite having labeled disabled seating in the Windjammer, don't expect 4 guests 2 respect it & don't expect RC staff 2 enforce it! Instead, expect 2 b gaslit by RC staff 4 expecting that it b enforced. Again, they'll remind u that, "We're all on vacation," which is their way of telling u 2 stop expecting that rules get enforced. Look, if ur 2 afraid 2 enforce the rules, then remove the designated handicapped seating placards -problem solved, right? I realize not all disabilities r physical, but when u c some1 running 2 beat u 2 the seat, then it's pretty obvious u don't need the seat as much as the man in the wheelchair. An RC staff member explained that she got in trouble when she approached a guest abt sitting there after running 2 get there. The guest explained that her back hurt. Folks, pain is not a legally designated disability! Despite the cruise rules saying no vape pens allowed, apparently vaping is permitted in the casino area. How exactly does that make sense if ur cruise rules strictly prohibit vaping? Again, don't expect RC staff 2 do anything about it. I watched guests vaping in the adult only spa area, & when I attempted 2 verify the rule w/a staff member I got the dead stare look! You know what look I'm talking about. It's the look of, "Um, I'm not sure what u want me 2 do about it," or the, "Me no speak no English!" The ship is dated, and the food was less than top notch. I pre ordered & pre paid 4 an anniversary package which included wine & chocolate covered strawberries. Nothing was in the room upon entry except 4 the paper decorations. Apparently strawberries aren't in season on this ship & there was a problem getting the strawberries. Eventually the package came, but the moment was lost at that point. Luggage lost w/blame put on my AAA agent! My stateroom attendant Reinan & my dinner hosts Anak & Ni were absolutely the best RC staff on the ship, next to Robert, guest services manager. Other than that, no other staff member stood out above the crowd! We were both sick by night on day 1 which we suspect came frm unsafe food handling in the Windjammer where there's limited staff ensuring adult supervision while children unsafely handle food! Luggage in the hallway makes movement 4 the disabled in wheelchairs impossible. Soda package is a waste of $!

We loved it and highly recommend this cruise. We went to Catalina Island and Ensenada Mexico, my first cruise and it was amazing, all the fun and exciting experiences and such a big and fun ship, the slides and waverider were awesome, the kids enjoyed all the rides and arcades and so much incredible food. I love walking and able to walk around the shop at my leisure and they also had a designated running track. We also went to a few of the clubs for a drink and live music, which was great and got to go to a few shows, awesome! And played some trivia, we won! And the art show-silent auction was cool too! So much to choose from, we already want to come back, so much to enjoy, the crew was so friendly and helpful, top notch! From the Cruise Director Chris, a very funny English Chap that had everyone laughing every time he spoke, very loud for such a little guy😀, so many stars amoug the crew, Cleo"washie, washie!" Jackson of the Formal dinning room and Michael and of course our room attendant Amar, we loved the folded animal towels, so fun to see every time, the Elephant was so cool. Thank you all and keep up the stellar work, so glad we came to you for our cruise experience!

Fun girl cousin cruise. We had a balcony room which was spacious with comfortable beds and a sofa. We were able to have the balcony partitions opened to our adjoining rooms but didn't really sit out much because it was rather cool weather but made the space feel more open and lighter. All the staff were friendly and helpful. We loved our main dining room servers; shout out to Shan Shan, Nwabisa, and Shailesh! Something to do for everyone or you could be lazy and just relax! Navigator was large, crowded at meal time at the Windjammer buffet. Food was good at all locations, loved the soft serve ice cream by the pool. Overall a fun time but may prefer a smaller ship next time. Navigator capacity is 3000+passengers.

I went on my first royal caribean cruise on the oldest ship, the grandeur of the seas, and even though it was the oldest ship, it was clean. The staff were friendly, and the food was delicious, especially the specialty restaurants. My stateroom attendant was amazing. The room may be small but you get what u pay for and even the small rooms have enough space for all 4 of us and since then I have gone on more cruises alone and with people and have 3 more planned for this year and early next year. I absolutely love and recommend Royal. I have actually convinced 6 of my friends to go on their first cruise, and now 3 of them will be joining me again next year. On another cruise
