Royal Davui Island Resort, Fiji

"Small is beautifull in the case of Royal Davui, one of the Fijian archipelago’s tinier islands (just 8 acres at high tide) containing a romantic tropical hideaway with only 16 vales (villas). Located a 30-minute helicopter ride south-east of Nadi, the experience begins with a traditional shell necklace gift, ends with a Fijian song of farewell and delivers bliss. Each multi-level vale has two outdoor decks, a bathroom with electronically opening ceilings and a decadent stone plunge pool. The lush island’s paths wind between the restaurant, bar, library, shop, 18-metre pool and a myriad of white sand beaches. Toys include powerboats, kayaks and scuba gear (plus instructors) for those wanting to dive in the magnificent Beqa Lagoon. There are other treats (the sand quay picnic is a must) but the real opulence lies in the 50-plus staff, whose sole aim is to treat the guests as if every one were royalty."

If you’re like me, your expectations for expensive Fijian hotels are pretty darn low. That’s not true here. Royal Davui’s is exceptional. Vincent is exceptionally exceptional. The food is even more exceptional. A class act all round where you constantly feel nurtured and cared for.

We recently stayed in a sunset villa, and enjoyed a very memorable time! Traveling from Nadi International Airport to the private remote resort location was scenic via both small plane and speed boat. The resort location was perfect, and views from the villa were amazing. There are simply too many highlights to list, but key amongst them are the entire staff. They make the experience even more wonderful. If Fiji is on your list of destinations to visit, you simply must consider visiting the Royal Davui resort. We plan to journey to this place again, and highly recommend!!

The most magical honeymoon we could have asked for. Royal Davui honestly exceeded even our wildest expectations. The bungalow was beautiful, with a fantastic view and great decor. The food was really tasty, so well thought out and a great diversity each day! Alongside the beauty of it all, the real standouts were the Sandcay picnic, and the staff themselves! Nothing was too much, they knew us, knew our preferences and really made us feel like family. We couldn't recommend more!

The experience started as soon as we got to the airport in Fiji. We were greeted by friendly staff with water and moist towels upon our arrival. On the boat ride there the staff was very concerned and accommodating while me and another rider vomited profusely on the trip. ||Upon our arrival we were greeted with a friendly song and a lot of island hospitality which at first seemed like it was just a formality. As the trip went on I realized very quickly how kind and genuine the staff at Royal Davui really is. Everyone there treated you like family, was kind and warm, and was eager to share their culture with you. ||I went expecting a quiet intimate getaway with my wife, but found myself so swept away by the experience that we ended up making friends both with the staff and with other guests. Every time we went to the dining area for food the staff greeted us with pure joy and friendliness, and every bit of it felt completely genuine, and sharing kava with them at the end of the night became a ritual that we all looked forward to. You can tell the workers there are proud of where they come from and that they take pride in their work. They treated us like royalty the entire time, and it was like nothing else I've ever experienced in my life.||The island itself is small, the first night we were there we were one of four couples. At it's busiest there was about 9 of 16 villas occupied. If we had wanted to we could have very easily had a very private and intimate honeymoon with virtually no socializing (which was what I had planned for). The rooms are VERY private, the balcony with private plunge pool is on the water with nobody in site, so if you're the kind of person that wants to be naked outside you will have that kind of privacy. ||Our room was very nice. The bed was very comfortable, the pillows were the comfiest I've ever used, the bath tub was nice and spacious, everything about it was perfect.||The excursions were a lot of fun and many of them are included with the price, there's also a bunch of free activities to enjoy (lawn games, water sports, pool).||I'm not a well travelled person, but a friend I had made on the island had told me that as far as value for your money that he's never been anywhere that comes even remotely close to Royal Davui. I would book another trip here without a second thought.||Huge thank you to the entire Royal Davui family, this was a first class experience from start to finish.

A magical place that delivers not only top quality rooms, amenities, and atmosphere, but also the greatest people we've ever met.||The resort is truly 5 star, in every aspect. Everything is curated for you and it takes little to no work on your part. Just show up and enjoy yourself. ||The greatest part about Royal Davui is the staff. They are truly amazing people who care, beyond what a traditional staff would, or should. ||We left there with true friendships amd memories we will treasure for a lifetime, or at least until we return again. ||If you're looking for a trip to Fiji, or the south pacific, do NOT pass this place up.

If you're considering this for a vacation, stop considering and just book it! The island's beauty is amazing. The food was excellent. The jet skiing, fishing and Sanc Cay activities were all fantastic! The public facilities like the pool, restaurant, and relaxation areas were all five star. The Fijian staff were the most overwhelming element to our stay. Their kindness, smiles and truly sincere wishes to make our vacation the best possible experience has once again shown us how incomparable Fiji is as a a culture, and how amazing its people are to visitors.

Awesome getaway, private, quiet, great food, amazing hosts! We snorkeled, hiked, kayaked, picnic'd, sat around and enjoyed the views... Made Royal Davui our wedding locale, all arrangements were taken care of by the resort, made for a memorable day! Loved the place, we will be back!

Such a wonderful, perfect week for our honeymoon. Every single staff member was genuinely cheerful each day and made an effort to know each guest by name. You can plan activities each day or just relax and you'll enjoy yourself either way. We did plane transfer there, and road transfer back due to weather. I think the road option is equally efficient since you may have to wait a while for the plane departure, depending on your incoming flight time. But the small plane was a cool experience. We didn't have the best weather in April, but it was amazing regardless. Having our private pool and deck at our villa, where we could enjoy the pool in the rain and then sit under the roof if it got too strong made any moment enjoyable regardless of the weather. We had 3.5 days of sun and 3.5 days of on and off rain. It was windy on the Beqa side of the island, but we thought the view of Beqa was worth it. AC in the weather was strong; lovely bathtubs and showers. Housekeeping service 3 times a day.
