I took my family on vacation here. We were highly disappointed in the service. When arriving, my family on day 1, neither of the 3 rooms were available until 7 hours later, same as many other quests. In addition, water is like gold and is very hard to get in the resort, my tub had a huge black soft area in the middle. I felt like I would fall through, no water or towels in any of the 3 rooms and after numerous requests finally received hours later. 95% of the staff let the other visitors cut in line for the food because they tip a lot and if they think you have no money, they won’t even come to your table to serve water. The service was the worst I’ve ever experienced in my life. The workers were extremely rude throughout the resort and the vendors constantly harassed us to buy their goods. The handful of employees that smiled and actually wanted to do their job were tipped extremely well however since we looked like the average Joe’s while vacationing, we were treated like dirt. My family never wants to visit again due to this experience. Many of us are government officials from the Caribbean and United States and I must say this experience was bad for tourism and coming back to New York I hear that much of Jamaica’s service industry has gone down the drain. That was so true based on our experience. I can only hope the recent hurricane disaster will force the people to be more courteous to visitors because if it weren’t for Tourists, Jamaica would be unheard of. Advice to the workers/staff/management is never judge a book by its cover. Treat everyone equally without judging by looks because the tourists are the ones that ensure you have jobs. Work on the horrible attitudes. It’s easier to just be nice. To think that my toddler son became ill because they took so long to bring us water in that heat was just absolutely disgusting. The staff/cooks/servers/managers need to be replaced with people who actually know what customer service is and people who value having a job. We will never return to Jamaica after this horrible experience and treatment. They just don’t care about anything or anyone except for their tips. If you visit, make sure you tip in American dollars otherwise you will be treated like garbage. Honestly, I don’t understand why everyone there seems so miserable. One of the weirdest things were when my family and I walked up to the outdoor grill for food and were turned away because we had sand on our feet. The grill is on the beach front and is completely outdoors in a tiny shack, not fancy at all but my family and toddler son had to leave because of the sand in our feet, so they say. There are good honest people out there that are hard working and know what customer service is. Don’t think that you can’t be easily be replaced.

I have mixed feelings about our stay at the Grand Decameron resort in Montego Bay. My wife and I arrived after our plans were disrupted when our flight was canceled due to Hurricane Melissa's approach. The resort accommodated us for 7 nights, but the experience was far from what we paid for. Once the hurricane hit, the resort's infrastructure was severely compromised. We had no running water, internet, or functional amenities, making it difficult to communicate with loved ones or enjoy any semblance of comfort. The conditions were hazardous, and my wife unfortunately fell in our room due to the slippery wet floor, busting her mouth and chin. It was a distressing experience. Despite these extraordinary circumstances, the resort continued to charge us (discounted), which felt tone-deaf given the national emergency and the fact that we were sheltering in place like everyone else. The lack of amenities and basic necessities like water and internet made our stay feel more like an endurance test than a vacation, that nobody should have to pay for. While I understand that the resort will receive insurance compensation for lost revenue, I believe they should have offered more flexibility with accommodation, especially considering the circumstances were beyond our control. We had other friends in the area at other resorts that told us they had stopped getting charged after the hurricane made land fall. The fact that we were charged for a stay that was essentially a disaster zone, with injuries and all, is unacceptable.

Love this boutique hotel, this is my fifth visit, second this year! People are amazing, receptionist Frances is the most polite and helpful person, and all staff is trying to fulfill your requests promptly. I had an issue with a/c remote, maintenance came within half hour and brought a new one. Food is great too, especially their stews yum! All in all I will come back here for sure!

This a budget friendly all-inclusive made amazing by the staff. I’ve been to 20+ all inclusives and the staff here were the best. Shout out to Zoey, JJ, and the rest of the entertainment dream, I thoroughly enjoyed yall!! Damion, the bartender, was amazing as well. I’m so sad I have to go. The hotel itself is about a 3.5; but the staff makes it a 5 for me!

I can't say enough good things about this hotel and their staff. We arrived as Hurricane Melissa was approaching. Through the storm they continued to keep us safe, provide incredible service, and helped us in all kinds of ways even as the country faced an unprecedented disaster and many of them waited word about how their own families and homes fared. The food was particularly noteworthy - always a variety of delicious food. The facilities, though many shut down due to the storm, are beautiful. But more than anything I commend the incredible staff for their dedication, hard work, friendliness, and service.

Disclaimer: I don’t usually stay at hotels with such low ratings (3.6), but I received a special promo through Wyndham and decided to take advantage of it. Overall, I would generously rate this hotel a 3 out of 5 due to views and food being good! Rooms Our room was very outdated, though it did have beach views. Unfortunately, it was located at the far end of the hotel near the dead-end beach that has swim club come out 5 am daily. Service This was hit or miss. Check-in took almost an hour and a half, even though we were only the third party in line. In the dining room, we often had to ask for basic items like spoons and forks, and many times the dining areas didn’t open on time. On several occasions, we waited up to 10 minutes for service or for someone to staff the food stations (for example, the spaghetti station). Location This is the hotel’s strongest feature and the main reason we chose it. It’s central to everything, just down the street from the airport, and even has a convenient spot on the beach where people can pick you up. The location is truly excellent.

DO NOT STAY HERE. My family and I booked four rooms at Grand Decameron through Virgin Holidays for a reunion, but the hotel refused to release our booking, leaving us stranded on the first night with no help and forced to share two rooms between ten people. The rooms were filthy—cockroach infestations, black mould hidden with paint, damp bedsheets, and a constant foul smell that made some of us develop rashes. Food hygiene was appalling, with flies and wasps covering most buffet items, and several of us got food poisoning that lasted two days. We were only given a third room seven days into the trip, and never got the fourth we paid for. Customer service was rude, dismissive, and unhelpful, with the managers literally hiding from us after giving us a faulty room. The advertised photos are completely misleading and not reflective of the actual conditions. We even witnessed animal cruelty, with cat traps set up on the property where you could hear distressed animals crying at night—deeply disturbing and unacceptable. The neglect and mismanagement throughout the stay was shocking, and neither the hotel nor Virgin Holidays took any responsibility despite daily complaints. Dirty dishes were left on tables, and the general hygiene was non-existent. This was honestly a 1-star experience at best, and I am reporting this hotel to the Jamaican Health and Safety Authority. Avoid at all costs—this ruined what was meant to be a peaceful family holiday. PROS: The Bar staff and drinks Location
