The hotel was quiet and the meal options were good. The other section of the hotel called Cornwall Beach was way better though in terms of food options and the modern lobby and coffee station was a wonderful touch. The checking process was not good. I arrived at 2:30 and finally got my room at 5:00. A whole day wasted for such a short trip of just 2 nights. Another thing was that a particular staff member in the snack area was asking for tips which we found inappropriate since we had just stepped foot on the property. We were also rudely awakened by a cockroach on night 2 of our stay this is quickly dealt with by my partner. The beds in the standard rooms were also very hard. We didnt have proper sleep throughout the stay. The days spent at the beach, seeing the views, eating at the Cornwall section of the property made it worthwhile. They need to update the Montego Beach section and get rid of the lenghthy checking in process. It dampens the whole trip. Also they need some sort of designated games room or something for entertainment.

Disclaimer: I don’t usually stay at hotels with such low ratings (3.6), but I received a special promo through Wyndham and decided to take advantage of it. Overall, I would generously rate this hotel a 3 out of 5 due to views and food being good! Rooms Our room was very outdated, though it did have beach views. Unfortunately, it was located at the far end of the hotel near the dead-end beach that has swim club come out 5 am daily. Service This was hit or miss. Check-in took almost an hour and a half, even though we were only the third party in line. In the dining room, we often had to ask for basic items like spoons and forks, and many times the dining areas didn’t open on time. On several occasions, we waited up to 10 minutes for service or for someone to staff the food stations (for example, the spaghetti station). Location This is the hotel’s strongest feature and the main reason we chose it. It’s central to everything, just down the street from the airport, and even has a convenient spot on the beach where people can pick you up. The location is truly excellent.

DO NOT STAY HERE. My family and I booked four rooms at Grand Decameron through Virgin Holidays for a reunion, but the hotel refused to release our booking, leaving us stranded on the first night with no help and forced to share two rooms between ten people. The rooms were filthy—cockroach infestations, black mould hidden with paint, damp bedsheets, and a constant foul smell that made some of us develop rashes. Food hygiene was appalling, with flies and wasps covering most buffet items, and several of us got food poisoning that lasted two days. We were only given a third room seven days into the trip, and never got the fourth we paid for. Customer service was rude, dismissive, and unhelpful, with the managers literally hiding from us after giving us a faulty room. The advertised photos are completely misleading and not reflective of the actual conditions. We even witnessed animal cruelty, with cat traps set up on the property where you could hear distressed animals crying at night—deeply disturbing and unacceptable. The neglect and mismanagement throughout the stay was shocking, and neither the hotel nor Virgin Holidays took any responsibility despite daily complaints. Dirty dishes were left on tables, and the general hygiene was non-existent. This was honestly a 1-star experience at best, and I am reporting this hotel to the Jamaican Health and Safety Authority. Avoid at all costs—this ruined what was meant to be a peaceful family holiday. PROS: The Bar staff and drinks Location

I am currently staying at Decameron Montego Bay... DO NOT STAY HERE. This place is a nightmare. After waiting for hours to get into a room, the room smelled very musty. We went back to the Front Desk to ask for a room change, which was refused, claiming they were sold out. We went to dinner and came back to find water just pouring out of our unit. Big slabs of ceiling fell, water was pouring from above. There was at least 3 inches of water on the floor where my suitcase was. My friend's suitcase was completely soaked with dirty brown water. After a few hours we were moved to another unit... no water. This unit is on 4th floor, no elevator. The following morning we were to speak with Guest Services, Charmaine I believe. She offered to dry our clothing. The clothes were dirty, needed washed before drying. Finally she agreed to have our clothes washed. We were to go back to the room and pack up our wet clothes and call front desk. Problem was the phone didn't work. So back we go down to the Front Desk with bags of soaking wet clothes. The next day early evening, one of the staff comes up with our "clean" clothes. Our clothes were thrown in black plastic bags. It was evident that our clothes hadnt been washed they were now stained from brown water and drywall, and smelled horribly. We spent hours hand-washing, just so we would have clothes to wear. Having cold water to shower here is a luxury, I've only had hot water once. Lots of lip service here from management, the workers however we're extremely accommodating, kind and very helpful. We were not the only ones to have water damage during my stay here. BUYER BEWARE... HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE, NEVER AGAIN. 😡

Avoid this hotel at all costs—this has been one of the worst experiences I’ve ever had at a resort. From the moment we arrived at the Grand Decameron Montego Bay, it’s been a constant battle to get even the bare minimum. We asked for extra towels and pillows last night—it’s now 2 PM the next day, and I’m standing at the front desk asking again. Why are guests begging for basic items at a so-called resort? The towels we were originally given were dingy and rough, and the room was in unacceptable condition. The bathtub was completely stopped up, after several calls someone came to fix it but when I requested for bleach to clean the tub, no one ever came. The tub is so dirty that I’ve been showering in shoes—yes, shoes. The worst part? My elderly mother, who already has mobility issues, now has a rash all over her body, and we strongly suspect it’s from either the bedding or the towels. This raises serious concerns about cleanliness and hygiene. Adding insult to injury, we were placed on the fourth floor with no elevator, despite clear accessibility needs. This resort is not accessible, not responsive, and not worth your money. We missed hours of beach time waiting for a room that wasn’t even ready at the 4 PM check-in time. The manager on duty, Sam Smith, has yet to offer any meaningful resolution. I will be uploading photos with this review, because the conditions we’ve experienced speak for themselves. I would never stay here again and would not recommend it to anyone.

Pros: *Great location, about 5 minutes from the airport. *Entertainment was good *Many Food choices *My drinks were not watered down *Beautiful ocean front views *I had good experience with the service & staff Cons: *The resort is older and more so noticeable in the rooms. * No washcloths, you must ask for them, or bring your own *Bed linen was dingy and stained. We asked for new linens, and they were very accommodating. *Check-in was an hour late *Elevator was still down as of May 30, 2025 Be mindful if you have elderly or need more handicap accessible rooms.

This is the Worse hotel I have ever stay in. Upon arrival the rooms we were placed in were visually dirty and uncleaned with an overwhelming smell of mould and damp and the air conditioning was on fully blast to try and cover this fact. The air conditioning unit also had tissue stuck on both sides to hold panels open which was unsafe, another of the rooms had extensive black mould and the bathroom was rusted and unusable. These conditions rendered the rooms completely inhabitable and far below the standard of even a 2-star hotel. We also had lots of other family members in rooms (as we were on a family reunion holiday) which also had bad experiences, one of the children woke up with a cockroach on his face and another had a big lizard in the room. Many more stories like this. Despite ongoing complaints, staff gave us the run around and did not take us seriously for days. There was only a handful of staff that were helpful and pleasure to talk to. During the first 4 day period after eating in the hotel we were subjected to food poising which lasted two days rendering us unable to function. Throughout the rest of our stay half of the family become sick through the food, making our stay even more uncomfortable as we were scared to eat the food. One of the rooms we stayed in carried a damp smell, which we found out was from the mattress. As well as being bitten up by mosquitoes, a family member was bitten up and was severely infected which would now appear to have been bed bugs, we notice the hotel changing beds that looked infested with mould etc. The only positive thing about this holiday and hotel is that the grounds were amazing and some staff were pleasant plus it is right on the sea front with access to the beach and sea plus 3 pools, although the bar pool was dirty and had not been cleaned.

The landscaping is A+. They are constantly taking care of the grounds and it is beautiful! It is an older hotel. The elevator wasn't working and we had to walk up three flights several times a day, but it wasn't bad, as we were burning off some calories from the great food selection in the dining area. My room did not come with an iron or ironing board. My sister's room had the iron but no board. The built-in hairdryer only worked on low (needs to be replaced). The oddest thing was they didn't supply washcloths! We were able to obtain 6 washcloths (among the 6 of us) for the week. You are able to enjoy the amenities at their sister resort at Cornwall. It has a nicer pool and larger beach area. I always felt safe at the resort. Lots of security walking around. Gated resort. The guard checks everyone coming and going. The staff was very friendly. Overall, very pleased with our stay!!
