DO NOT STAY HERE. My family and I booked four rooms at Grand Decameron through Virgin Holidays for a reunion, but the hotel refused to release our booking, leaving us stranded on the first night with no help and forced to share two rooms between ten people. The rooms were filthy—cockroach infestations, black mould hidden with paint, damp bedsheets, and a constant foul smell that made some of us develop rashes. Food hygiene was appalling, with flies and wasps covering most buffet items, and several of us got food poisoning that lasted two days. We were only given a third room seven days into the trip, and never got the fourth we paid for. Customer service was rude, dismissive, and unhelpful, with the managers literally hiding from us after giving us a faulty room. The advertised photos are completely misleading and not reflective of the actual conditions. We even witnessed animal cruelty, with cat traps set up on the property where you could hear distressed animals crying at night—deeply disturbing and unacceptable. The neglect and mismanagement throughout the stay was shocking, and neither the hotel nor Virgin Holidays took any responsibility despite daily complaints. Dirty dishes were left on tables, and the general hygiene was non-existent. This was honestly a 1-star experience at best, and I am reporting this hotel to the Jamaican Health and Safety Authority. Avoid at all costs—this ruined what was meant to be a peaceful family holiday. PROS: The Bar staff and drinks Location

Avoid this hotel at all costs—this has been one of the worst experiences I’ve ever had at a resort. From the moment we arrived at the Grand Decameron Montego Bay, it’s been a constant battle to get even the bare minimum. We asked for extra towels and pillows last night—it’s now 2 PM the next day, and I’m standing at the front desk asking again. Why are guests begging for basic items at a so-called resort? The towels we were originally given were dingy and rough, and the room was in unacceptable condition. The bathtub was completely stopped up, after several calls someone came to fix it but when I requested for bleach to clean the tub, no one ever came. The tub is so dirty that I’ve been showering in shoes—yes, shoes. The worst part? My elderly mother, who already has mobility issues, now has a rash all over her body, and we strongly suspect it’s from either the bedding or the towels. This raises serious concerns about cleanliness and hygiene. Adding insult to injury, we were placed on the fourth floor with no elevator, despite clear accessibility needs. This resort is not accessible, not responsive, and not worth your money. We missed hours of beach time waiting for a room that wasn’t even ready at the 4 PM check-in time. The manager on duty, Sam Smith, has yet to offer any meaningful resolution. I will be uploading photos with this review, because the conditions we’ve experienced speak for themselves. I would never stay here again and would not recommend it to anyone.

This hotel is a must if its 2 guest as the food/alcohol is included. This property in the past was nice as it is a smaller property to navigate resort great beach views and it had spectacular entertainment. The entertainment must of taken a hit as none of the dancer are still working. The property really has potential to be great. At this time seems they are scattered thin on renovations and staffing. The location is on hip strip which makes it walkable. The location is super close to Airport. The property has great bones with an on-site club (club entrance mirrors need cleaning and a live DJ) and many free activities such as canoeing and sailing. However, nobody seems to know the club exist. So it did not serve as a true party vibe option during my stay. The property should focus on one section of the resort and completely renovate it. The bars close early like one at 5 pm and the other a later. The bar close to the stage and sauna area should have bar stool around each side of the bar and music (please) set a party vibe. Pros Close to Scotiabank ATM Starbucks Doctors Cove (Beach entrance)and Margaritaville Gift shops Beach front rooms Live pianist during dinner was awesome Cons Reception staff (need improvement) No wash clothes provided (2 large towels only) No elevator Thinly Staffed Vendors too aggressive

I am currently staying at Decameron Montego Bay... DO NOT STAY HERE. This place is a nightmare. After waiting for hours to get into a room, the room smelled very musty. We went back to the Front Desk to ask for a room change, which was refused, claiming they were sold out. We went to dinner and came back to find water just pouring out of our unit. Big slabs of ceiling fell, water was pouring from above. There was at least 3 inches of water on the floor where my suitcase was. My friend's suitcase was completely soaked with dirty brown water. After a few hours we were moved to another unit... no water. This unit is on 4th floor, no elevator. The following morning we were to speak with Guest Services, Charmaine I believe. She offered to dry our clothing. The clothes were dirty, needed washed before drying. Finally she agreed to have our clothes washed. We were to go back to the room and pack up our wet clothes and call front desk. Problem was the phone didn't work. So back we go down to the Front Desk with bags of soaking wet clothes. The next day early evening, one of the staff comes up with our "clean" clothes. Our clothes were thrown in black plastic bags. It was evident that our clothes hadnt been washed they were now stained from brown water and drywall, and smelled horribly. We spent hours hand-washing, just so we would have clothes to wear. Having cold water to shower here is a luxury, I've only had hot water once. Lots of lip service here from management, the workers however we're extremely accommodating, kind and very helpful. We were not the only ones to have water damage during my stay here. BUYER BEWARE... HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE, NEVER AGAIN. 😡

Upon arriving, I was greeted by an older female security guard. I swore she owned the hotel. VERY PLEASANT AND WELCOMING. Then we were booked in by a young lady that spoke with a lisp. She was just as pleasant as the security guard. VERY NICE. The room was average, but the bathroom....NOPE. That needs work. The sheets were stained, and the towels should be tossed. My advice, bring your own towels, wash rags, soap. The food sucks EXCEPT for barbeque night on the beach...10/10. The beach..10/10. The room...5/10. Location to airport..10/10.

Check-in starts at 3 pm, and we arrived at 3:15. We weren’t able to get into our room until 5. When standing at the reception desk, there was no order to whom was served. Preference for some people were shown over others not based on when they arrived. The rooms were filled with mold and were outdated. They refuse to provide washcloths and when asked for an extra hand towel, they said they would but never did. Some staff were very welcoming; others were rude and stand offish. The beach was much smaller than pictures indicated. The food was good and the views were nice.

I checked into the first room I was assigned - absolutely ridiculous that this room is even listed to be rented!!! Let me call on this room was located on the second floor and this hotel had no working elevator it is boarded up!!!! Got to the room Opened the door first thing first AC did not work, second thing both beds had dirty sheets on them with blood stain spots on the pillow cases. Housekeeping ddnt clean this room at all!!!! Edited on July 26 I checked in on July 19th - The first room they gave us - The AC did not work, the sheets on both beds were DIRTY with blood stains all over the pillow cases. Janelle at the front desk was super helpful and got us another room which was outdated, the one regular plug in the bathroom to charge items did not work. We had one plug in the bedroom and luckily I had an adapter/converter I was able to charge my phone. The actual phone in the room to call the Helpdesk or for help does not work. My room was on the fourth floor and there is no elevator (the elevator is boarded up and I was advised it just needs one part to fix) My third night on the resort I went out for a tour and got back to the hotel after 9pm and had loads of items to bring in. The security at the front desk did not want to open the gate to let us in - I am a paying guest and had to sit outside to argue to be let in. After 10mins he finally opened the gate. I asked to speak to a supervisor - Janelle was at the front desk and the actual security guard who wouldn't let us in is the one that answered for a supervisor and wouldn't get us one. So Janelle went to find one and said she would call me but since the room phone did not work, the supervisor refused to come to me and talked to me and Janelle walked up to the fourth floor to let me know the supervisor stated that she doesn't have to tell me anything, but the reason why the security did not want to open the gate is that it is closed after 9pm - Which is crap!!! If I am a guest at the hotel and I come back to the property after 9pm how is that a rule. Nevertheless Friday Night I came back to the hotel after 11pm and like all other nights when there is another security guard that is doing their jobs I was asked my room# how many guest and was let in after asking the driver their name and logging the vehicle and license plate #. This place needs to do better, beautiful property, but management needs to be changed. The way the hotel is ran, is outdated and with the exception of Janelle - Front Desk and Tevin Campbell who was super awesome in logging our luggages from the first room which was on the second floor up and down back to the fourth floor we were moved to. It saddens me that this hotel is outdated and inconsistent. Additionally what is the purpose of being able to use the Cornwall side and being told we cannot get pool/beach towels from that side to drive off after being in the ocean. OH I want to call out that how do the hotel not have WASH RAGS for folks to take a shower or bath with. Truth be told the only reason I did not check out the first night was literally because of Janelle Campbell's Customer Service and Tevin Campbell's bellmanship - Both of them need to be recognized. I pray you look into the security guard who did not want to let a paying customer on the property. DO BETTER!!!! Hopefully someone would read this for real and take actions and like I said the folks who kept us there who needs to be recognized. Janelle Campbell and Tevin Campell. Kona was helpful as well!!!! The Decameron is greedy /money hunger, because there is no way that you are getting people still visiting and you don't try to fix the issues!! I for sure would t recommend this hotel! If people continues to stay here the hotel owners and management team will not change their ways!!

Pros: *Great location, about 5 minutes from the airport. *Entertainment was good *Many Food choices *My drinks were not watered down *Beautiful ocean front views *I had good experience with the service & staff Cons: *The resort is older and more so noticeable in the rooms. * No washcloths, you must ask for them, or bring your own *Bed linen was dingy and stained. We asked for new linens, and they were very accommodating. *Check-in was an hour late *Elevator was still down as of May 30, 2025 Be mindful if you have elderly or need more handicap accessible rooms.
