"Brussels Beautiful Covered Shopping Arcade The Galeries Royales Saint-Hubert is one of the oldest covered shopping arcades in Europe. This upscale shopping mall is located just opposite the Grand Place and is a beautiful place to window shop. Inside you will find jewellery, handbags, a hat-maker, a glove shop, restaurants and a variety of Belgium’s best chocolate-makers. Don’t miss the stunning Art Nouveau stained-glass ceiling of the Corné Porte Royal chocolate shop. The galleries are particularly beautiful at Christmas when the shop fronts are decked out for the season."

The Top Things to See and Do in Brussels in 2025

"Opened in 1847 and the oldest shopping arcade in Europe, I enjoy the Galeries Royales Saint-Hubert—known as the Umbrella of Brussels—for its glass-roofed, well-lit passage that was designed to make shopping safer and more pleasant for the wealthy, and for its cafés, restaurants, chocolateries, and luxury shops that look beautiful when lit up at night." - Matthew Kepnes

Brussels' charms lie beyond its chocolate and waffles - SilverKris

"Europe’s first glazed shopping arcade (completed in 1847) comprises three elegant arcades—the King’s, Queen’s and Princes’—and houses refined shopping under grand glass roofs, from top leather ateliers and historic chocolatiers to a superbly stocked bookstore and an arthouse cinema." - Clodagh Kinsella

These galleries offer a truly stunning selection of artworks! 🖼✨ Every art lover can find something here, from classics to contemporary pieces. I was genuinely inspired and impressed by what I saw - each work evokes emotions and makes you want to admire it again and again. The atmosphere is filled with creativity and inspiration, and you can clearly feel the curators’ excellent taste and high level of organization. It’s a place where you can easily spend hours discovering new meanings and artistic treasures. Definitely worth a visit for anyone who appreciates art and seeks inspiration. Thx.

Absolutely stunning. Upon walking in you’re taken back by the sheer elegance of this place. The roof being all windows makes this just amazing. Ended up doing some shopping at the embroidery store and then had a nice big coffee (pictured) at one of the cafes. It was so nice to sit and enjoy the people watching and just taking it all in. This was definitely a wonderful moment I wish I could have packaged up and taken home. If you’re in the area, make sure to check this out. Even if you’re just going to stroll through, this is a must. Very beautiful and highly recommend.

This place is so much more than a shopping arcade—it's a piece of history. The architecture is simply stunning, with the high glass roof flooding the hall with light. It’s an incredibly elegant and beautiful place for a stroll, regardless of the weather outside. The gallery is lined with a wonderful selection of high-end shops, especially famous Belgian chocolatiers, and charming cafes. Stopping for a coffee or a meal here feels like stepping back in time. Even if you don't plan on buying anything, you have to visit just to experience the magnificent atmosphere.

This elegant and light filled arcade is one of the highlights of my visit in Brussels. It’s a joy to wonder through the shops and restaurants here. It’s also amazing to learn that this is the oldest of such architectural device. Although it doesn’t have the grandeur of the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II in Milan, it has plenty of grace.

Very nice shopping area which you also many dinning options. Of course, in Brussels Belgium, there are no shortage of chocolate shops. There are many specialty stores also, which is somewhat bit pricier!

This gallery located in the heart of Brussels, is one of the first covered shopping arcades in Europe, inaugurated in 1847. With a high glass roof and Renaissance inspired design. Today, it is home to luxury boutiques, famous Belgian chocolatiers, cafés, restaurants, a cinema, and even a theater. As a cultural and tourist landmark of Brussels, it offers a beautiful space for shopping, strolling, and photography.
