"Brussels Beautiful Covered Shopping Arcade The Galeries Royales Saint-Hubert is one of the oldest covered shopping arcades in Europe. This upscale shopping mall is located just opposite the Grand Place and is a beautiful place to window shop. Inside you will find jewellery, handbags, a hat-maker, a glove shop, restaurants and a variety of Belgium’s best chocolate-makers. Don’t miss the stunning Art Nouveau stained-glass ceiling of the Corné Porte Royal chocolate shop. The galleries are particularly beautiful at Christmas when the shop fronts are decked out for the season."

The Top Things to See and Do in Brussels in 2025

"Opened in 1847 and the oldest shopping arcade in Europe, I enjoy the Galeries Royales Saint-Hubert—known as the Umbrella of Brussels—for its glass-roofed, well-lit passage that was designed to make shopping safer and more pleasant for the wealthy, and for its cafés, restaurants, chocolateries, and luxury shops that look beautiful when lit up at night." - Matthew Kepnes

Brussels' charms lie beyond its chocolate and waffles - SilverKris

"Europe’s first glazed shopping arcade (completed in 1847) comprises three elegant arcades—the King’s, Queen’s and Princes’—and houses refined shopping under grand glass roofs, from top leather ateliers and historic chocolatiers to a superbly stocked bookstore and an arthouse cinema." - Clodagh Kinsella

I visited the Royal Gallery of Saint Hubert at the end of December and was completely enchanted by the experience. The grand glass-roofed arcade, with its stunning architecture and festive atmosphere, felt like stepping into a timeless piece of history. Every corner exuded charm, from the elegant shopfronts to the beautifully lit decorations that made the whole gallery glow. Walking through the arcade was a delight, especially during the holiday season, as the mix of luxury boutiques, chocolatiers, and cosy cafés created a warm and inviting ambiance. It’s the perfect place to wander, admire the intricate details, and indulge in some Belgian treats. I highly recommend visiting, especially if you want to experience the cultural and architectural beauty of Brussels in one spot. Absolutely deserving of 5 stars! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

An architectural beauty. Absolutely adored walking through here. It's so elegant and pleasant on the eyes. When the lights changed it just added to the beauty. You feel like you've stepped back in time to when there was enough money to even create beautiful door handles. It's just a lovely place to visit.

🎄✨🏛️ Visited Royal Gallery Saint-Hubert during Christmas and it was absolutely magical 🇧🇪🤍✨. Lined with iconic restaurants 🍽️🍷, classic cafés ☕🥐, and elegant shops 🛍️💎, it’s a dream spot for chocolate lovers 🍫🤎🍫 — visited all the chocolate shops and every single one was worth it 😍😋🤎. It does get very crowded at times 🚶‍♀️🚶‍♂️🚶‍♀️😅, especially during the Christmas season 🎅🎁⏰, but the festive atmosphere 🎶✨ and cozy holiday vibes ❄️🤍🎄 make it a must-visit Brussels experience 🇧🇪✨🍫🛍️🎄

I visited the Galeries Royales Saint-Hubert on a snowy weekend, and as expected for such a popular tourist destination, the place was quite crowded — something you can’t really complain about. The architectural design of the buildings is beautiful, with elegant details that make the arcade a pleasure to walk through. It is filled with a mix of local and international stores, offering plenty to explore. Since we traveled in December, the entire gallery was stunningly decorated and beautifully lit, which added a festive charm and made the experience even more memorable.

Walking through Les Galeries Royales Saint-Hubert felt like stepping into a timeless world where elegance and history meet. The soft glow of the lights bouncing off the ornate walls and the glass-vaulted ceiling created a warm, almost magical atmosphere. Despite the bustling crowd around me, I felt a quiet sense of wonder, pausing to admire the intricate details of the architecture and the charm of the shops lining the gallery. It was one of those moments where time seems to slow down — a moment to reflect, to feel gratitude for small joys, and to simply be present amidst the beauty of the surroundings. Standing there, I realized that places like this are more than just landmarks; they are spaces that quietly hold memories, stories, and a sense of connection to the world around us.

Absolutely stunning. Upon walking in you’re taken back by the sheer elegance of this place. The roof being all windows makes this just amazing. Ended up doing some shopping at the embroidery store and then had a nice big coffee (pictured) at one of the cafes. It was so nice to sit and enjoy the people watching and just taking it all in. This was definitely a wonderful moment I wish I could have packaged up and taken home. If you’re in the area, make sure to check this out. Even if you’re just going to stroll through, this is a must. Very beautiful and highly recommend.

It was a very nice shopping center. The shops inside looked as beautiful as the building was from outside. You'll find different types of shops not only for chocolate and waffles but also leather goods and clothes.

The atmosphere is filled with creativity and inspiration, and you can clearly feel the curators’ excellent taste and high level of organization. It’s a place where you can easily spend hours discovering new meanings and artistic treasures. Definitely worth a visit for anyone who appreciates art and seeks inspiration. Thx.
