During a recent trip to Arizona, I had the unexpected pleasure of staying at the Royal Host Motel in Las Cruces, NM. I hadn't booked a room in advance, a decision that seemed regrettable as I was turned away by over half a dozen other motels, all of which were fully booked. Close to midnight and prepared to spend the night in my truck, I stopped by the Royal Host Motel purely by chance, after finding no luck at the inn next door.
The office lights were on, but the door was locked, and no one appeared to be inside. Resigned to my fate, I was ready to settle in my truck when the motel owner approached me. She explained that she had been assisting another guest, hence her absence from the office. This gesture of approaching my truck and offering assistance was my first indication of the exceptional service that defines the Royal Host Motel.
We exchanged pleasantries during check-in, discovering a mutual connection to the Texas Gulf Coast, which added a personal touch to the experience. The room itself was a pleasant surprise: meticulously clean and well-maintained, stocked with all the essentials. It was evident that the owners take great pride in their establishment.
As some other reviewers have mentioned, the room's A/C was off when I arrived. However, even on a hot June night, this did not pose a significant issue. I turned it on, took a refreshing shower, and by the time I was ready for bed, the room had cooled down considerably.
Overall, the Royal Host Motel exceeded my expectations. The owner's hospitality and the care put into maintaining the rooms made my stay comfortable and enjoyable. It's a place where I would feel safe staying with my family, and I would not hesitate to stay here again. If you're passing through Las Cruces and need a place to stay, the Royal Host Motel is a gem worth considering.
