Great location and great service from Raissa the receptionist, really kind and the hotel provided a discount for the parking right next to it called ‘Parkhaus Badischer Bahnof’. As well the hotel provided a card for the transport to the city center which was handy. Thanks for your kindness Raissa!

First, let me explain my mistake. We were on a three week train tour of Switzerland, so we wanted to book hotels within easy walking distance of the train stations. Not having been to Basel in almost 60 years (I was just a kid), I hadn't realized Basel has two train stations and the Royal isn't near the Swiss Rail station So, we had to take a 15 minute car ride to get there. The Royal is a minimalist hotel, almost self service. Once you're made your reservation, there is a display panel outside the front door where you enter your name and arrival/departure dates to gain entry. The rooms are spacious by European standards, clean, and the bed comfortable. It is right on the #6 tram stop that takes us into Old Town, and the hotel automatically provides you with free transit passes good for your length of stay. The breakfast in the lobby is plentiful, so you really can stoke up for the day. All in all, while I did book us near the "wrong" train station, I'm glad I did.

This was a perfect location for our purposes. A very friendly, English speaking front desk lass. The Royal is located right across from the local train station and a big hub for trams and buses (all free) Pharmacy, Maccas 🙄a few little restaurants located nearby but we ate in different locations in the main part of town. A little noise in the room from the transport (didn't worry us) but the aircon is awesome!!

My girlfriend and I celebrated our 6th anniversary at the Royal Hotel in Basel, and it was a perfect experience. The staff thoughtfully arranged a rooftop suite with a terrace and a bathtub, which made our stay extra special and relaxing. Everything was smooth and comfortable, and we truly felt welcomed. We’ll definitely come back on our next visit to Basel!

Stayed there with my wife and 2 kids (3y&8y). Reception was ok and staff very helpful. Room was super basic with beds all over and nothing else: very "spartan" like and not welcoming at all. Dirty shower (hair from previous guests in it). Pity we did not take any picture. Other 4 star hotels (like hotel Spalentor where we are staying now) offer far more for less money.

Service, rooms, location, all 10/10. Giselle helped me out, she always went above and beyond on everything. God bless you, thank you for making my stay incredible. Many blessings.

Good rooms, but not always someone who can help. No stairs that are available, so if you afraid to go inside the elevator, you can’t get inside your room, unless you find a way to contact someone…train stop next to the hotel, also busses. The stuff is really nice and helpful

We only spent one night in Basel but thoroughly enjoyed it. This hotel helped make for a great stay. Traveling with five has had us mostly staying in Airbnb’s and a hotel is never as spacious. But we fit adequately in one of their rooms. The staff spoke perfect English and were incredibly helpful and kind. It was an easy 10-15 min walk to the Rhine for a swim on a hot afternoon and right across from one of the train stations - which also just happened to be near where we rented a car for the next leg of our journey. Very convenient!
