Royal House Oyster Bar

We came in for a late breakfast on the last day of our visit to the French Quarter. Our waiter Robert made this meal so enjoyable. He was entertaining and very attentive and friendly. The gumbo was delicious with just the right amount of heat for me and the breakfast plate was good with a very generous portion. The restaurant is very clean and had a laid back atmosphere with the wood accents and open doors. We enjoyed the food, but really would come back for the service we got from Robert!

Good service, great food, good atmosphere…about $30/person but worth it. I’ll be back! The Shrimp and Grits were good as hell. The oysters were some of the biggest I’ve ever had and tasted fresh and good. Felt like my first time eating them for real.

Ask to sit on the balcony. The view is awesome and it makes for a quaint and romantic dinner. The restaurant is unique, the service was fabulous, and the food was outstanding. The Louisiana Crawfish & Crabmeat Ravioli was phenomenal and the Blackened Chicken Jambalaya was phenomenal! Definitely worth the visit. The brownie was okay, but the main courses were outstanding and I would recommend this place!

We went to Royal House while walking through Bourbon Street and needing a place to eat. The menu seemed accommodating for our whole party. We were seated immediately in the upstairs dining room. We ordered both drinks and food at the same time. Our drinks came out, honestly they tasted like straight juice. We got the hurricane and the French quarter margarita. The mint julep was actually pretty good. Our food came out. I got the chicken gumbo which was great! It has a nice level of spiciness. It was seasoned really nicely, too. I asked for a side roll but was given 3 pieces of sliced bread and butter ($.50) to dip in the gumbo which was a nice touch. My friends got the fish po-boy which they said was good but wish it was more seasoned. My other friend for the French onion soup which she said was pretty good. It wasn’t monumental but serviceable. We ordered spinach and artichoke dip as an app but it came out last. We had basically finished our meal. It was piping hot. Friends said it was great! We all loved the tortilla chips that came with it which were great! At the end of our meal, things got weird. We gave our cards to spilt the check and apparently our transaction broke the whole system…??? The waiter, Emily, told us twice about the issue which was appreciated. We waited for ~25 minutes before we asked for the manager came over and explain the situation in more detail. It creeped us out that they kept our cards during this whole ordeal instead of giving them back while we waited. They asked if we could pay cash, we couldn’t. The resolution was that we Zelle the manager our bill amount and he will pay the bill later when it’s fixed …??? What also was weird was that other tables were able to pay with cards pretty quickly. Originally they said it was the whole restaurant, then just us, then just 2 tables. It wasn’t clear who was affected by this since the story changed each time. We would think the management would offer something for this inconvenience but we had to bring it up. We asked for some compensation or something. We mentioned that when we were waiting, complimentary drinks could have been offered for us to be social. So the waiter came and took our drinks. We ordered mint juleps but they did NOT taste the same as the first one my friend got. It tasted like whiskey and soda. Overall, I’m 50/50 about this place. I would recommend bringing cash if anything because the food was actually pretty good.

The food is amazing! You have to try the crab claws! The sauce is so decadent and rich! I had the taste of New Orleans which I chose the Red Beans and rice, Crawfish Etouffe and Jambalaya. My partner had the shrimp and grits which was very rich and tasted amazing. The food is abundant and very fulfilling. The ambiance is exactly what you would expect for a great NOLA restaurant. Our server was Darius who was extremely personable and attentive to us. I found out that this is a place than many locals frequent so you know if it’s good enough for the locals it has to be great!

The oysters are the best in the area. We have been ordering any and all oysters around bourbon for the last 5 years and these are best bang for your buck! Davis our bartender was incredible and New! He felt like your neighborhood bartender in a fine dining environment! I’m a “customer service” educator and he had it all. Very impressed with the service from him. The seafood pasta was so worth it and the gator bites were the best I’ve had this side of the Mississippi! THANK YOU Davis, Davis! Also you can hear amazing buskers from the corner across the street(be sure to tip them)

Great place - great service, great food, great atmosphere. Stopped in for lunch. Bartender (Rebecca) was very good. Food was excellent. I am not a hush puppy fan but theirs were very good and their charbroiled oysters were the best we had while in New Orleans.

We got the taste of New Orleans Sampler and the fried Alligator. Everything was delicious and great! The waitress was awesome and kind. Would totally recommend stopping by for a taste.
