This is a nice hotel, but the place really let itself down with a few things that bothered us a bit based on us booking it thinking we were headed to a 5 start resort. ||1) Allowing people to smoke on balcony's, by the pool and at the bar. Hotels.com states it is a non-smoking property, which isn't true. ||2) Sometimes there was a lack of attentiveness. The pool bar would have been better if staff served at sunbeds and sometimes it depended on who served you as to what you got (e.g., each drinks order came with a free bowl of crisps which was sometimes given and sometimes not). When we checked out, we had to wait in a lounge area with cases by the bar for 90 minutes, if someone had have come to offer us a drink that's a small gesture that would have made a difference. ||3) At breakfast, there was sometimes confusion over silly things, like being how long they should cook an egg for to make it runny. ||4) They have a system where you take a pool towel each and then take the towel back to reception for a swap when you want a clean one. We found our cleaner kept removing one of the towels from the room so then the reception staff were getting a bit funny about where the 2nd towel had gone. ||5) There was also a mess up with being informed about possible late checkout. The communication could have been a bit clearer. ||6) We're not saying we don't like to talk, or socialise casually with people. It's a difficult balance because a smaller hotel is better than a larger hotel, but at times it felt like everyone was in each other's hair a bit (especially because there are a lot of British people who stay at the hotel). ||The hotel has nice fixtures and fittings, the pool area is really nice and its well kept, but we just think sometimes there were things that let it down pushing out of the five star bracket. This may well be exactly what you're looking for, but for us there could have been a few small things changed that turned it from good to excellent.
