Nice friendly pub with good size portioned meals. Service was quick & efficient! Our meals came out reasonably fast as it wasn’t that busy yet. The crumbed fish was a lot of batter & a bit of fish with half a cos lettuce 🥬 placed on the plate 🤔 The crumbed chicken was hard & over cooked but tasted ok, was served with a very bland & boring side of lettuce/cabbage & a whole lot of gravy - not sure what was going on there?!? The meat dishes were overcooked also. All in all, the meals were your average - typical pub meals The food wasn’t great but the service & atmosphere made up for it. It’s a nice pub to come to with friends & or family, even nicer to sit outside on a warm day.

Exceptional hospitality- staff handled my booking of seventeen with ease. Friendly bartenders, exquisite drinks and superbly fresh food. Cool music, a lively and welcoming atmosphere, and excellent outdoor seating. Dogs welcome!

I couldn't find a better pub. The beer selection is very decent, recommended the IPA, but the vibes are even better. Staff are super knowledgeable and welcoming. Malcolm was a gem, I love Scottish people but he is really charming, I felt right at home. Food is unbeatable for the area. Would come back.

We came as a wedding after party of 30 and could not be more complementing the staff. Everyone we encountered was more than just helpful; they went out of their way to accommodate our special requests. The cocktails were superb and the overall atmosphere was very very enjoyable. We love this pub and will be back.

Awesome food and lovely staff however sadly no longer dog friendly 😢 seemingly thanks to reviewer below Alex Adler. Maybe a good lesson for your family is to not pat random dogs without permission from owners. Thanks for ruining it for everyone because you don’t have control of your child.

Great place to have a casual drink, staff always welcoming. Disappointingly, dining in has been over an hour wait every time I’ve been. Food is great when it comes out however

We came here because we developed disdain towards Builders Arms for removing Chilli Mussels from their menu (petulant, I know). Royal Oak generally has better food, compliments to their chef, the food is always crisp, hot and unique flavours, plus other cliché foody adjectives. Some recommendations I'd like to share with the establishment. - Consider adding a staple cheeseburger? - Fill the chilli mussel void that Builders Arms has created - Turn offf the chandelier-esque light from the restaurant ceiling, and replace with (more) perimeter low lighting. - maybe a long red rug in the dining room to link the space Love
