Royal Óbidos Spa & Golf Resort

Top notch hotel but it's in the middle of nowhere. It is awesome if you are a golf player. The food in the restaurant is outstanding. Room service is amazing and the concierge service is also outstanding. Had a great stay at the hotel. A vehicle is a must to visit the surrounding area.

We stayed 4 nights. The apartment was great and we loved using the wellness centre. Also played a round of Golf which we pre booked and paid for online. This is non refundable as we found out when we discovered if you are a guest at the resort you get a cheaper rate. They didn’t care. Also take tees, €6 for a small packet of wooden tees.. first course I’ve ever been where they are not complimentary in your cart. All that aside, the course was great to play and in good condition.

The Royal Óbidos Scenic Resort presents itself as a concept of luxury and exclusivity, but the real experience falls far short of expectations. The overall atmosphere of the resort is desolate, almost like a ghost town: empty spaces, a lack of life, and a chilling coldness in the buildings. The entire concept lacks soul and meaning.The houses and apartments, although visually pleasing at first glance, quickly reveal their true nature as soon as you enter: cold, impersonal, and completely devoid of comfort. The baby blue sofas, besides clashing with the environment, are extremely uncomfortable. Overall, the facilities are bland and poorly finished.The experience worsened when, upon using the bathroom facilities, I found the shower was clogged. I informed reception around 3 p.m., but when I returned, nothing had been resolved. I contacted reception again and, to my surprise, they said they had no record of the incident. Major red flag.As for the SPA, which is marketed as the resort’s highlight and supposedly 4-star, the disappointment was even greater. The space is extremely limited: only a sauna and a hot shower (which had been under maintenance for weeks, according to the staff), and a Turkish bath with an unbearable musty smell. Beyond that, the heated pool had no additional features, not even proper water jets.In short, the Royal Óbidos Scenic Resort is an empty, cold, and meaningless concept. It lacks personality, comfort, and, above all, customer care. A strange and disappointing experience that I do not recommend.

Great resort. Amazing rooms. I put a low star for location as we were driving 1 hour each way to do our day trips. We came to explore. Obidos is amazing if you just want to relax and not explore too far. I put a 3 star for service only because we didn’t use it much. However the one time we needed help with buying the right pods for the coffee machine we didn’t get much assistance. We didn’t even ask them to just replenish the coffee pods. We were asking about how to buy more because we needed 3 a day. But overall. Amazing views. Amazing rooms. Modern.

⸻ Pros • Beautiful golf, tennis, paddle and mini-golf facilities (available to rent). • Studio was comfortable and clean. • Housekeeping every 3 days (extra cleaning available with fee). • Nice view from the Clubhouse restaurant where breakfast was served (3–4 min walk, overlooking the golf course). • Indoor and outdoor pool available (inside the main hotel building, needed to drive to the hotel parking). • Great place for relaxation if you come by car (access only possible with car). Cons • Breakfast far below 5-star standard: very limited options, not fresh bread, scrambled/boiled eggs served cold, no omelette option unless extra charge. • Studio had no dining table inside. • Bathroom unsafe: bathtub leaked water on the floor, no handle to hold, very slippery and risky (I even slipped, which was dangerous).

Excellent boutique hotel, good facilities, in particular indoor pool open until 22:00. Tv in the room was not working so upon request we were moved to another room, albeit an upgraded to a suite. Excellent breakfast too!

One of the best hotels I have ever been. Great vilas with a lot of space and equipped with everything a family need. The pools are perfect and also the breakfast and the service is always with a big smile.

Reasonable price for a large room with a great view. This hotel is really great with nice indoor and outdoor pools, great service. The golf courses are also easily reachable by car. They also have a spa offering by Mandalay Bay.
