The 6 Best Hotels in Brisbane (Updated 2025)

"Located directly across from the lush botanical gardens in the Inner City and a short walk from Queen Street Mall, I find this hotel charming. It offers an outdoor swimming pool, hot tub, lounge, and a restaurant with an expansive breakfast buffet. The generously sized rooms are simply designed with floor-to-ceiling windows that let in lots of natural light; the beds are super comfy and bathrooms, while not huge, are well-equipped with good water pressure. All rooms include ergonomic work desks, USB ports by the beds, and espresso machines, and guests receive a complimentary drink on arrival." - Matthew Kepnes

Nice hotel with friendly staff. Room was nice but bathroom really let it down. It doesn't seem to have had an upgrade since the 90s, which is really noticeable with the room itself having had a freshen up.||Location is lovely with the gardens across the road, so plenty of wonderful places to wander, and a nice little market on Sundays. ||Pool area was fantastic. Open and spacious with lovely decking. Good size pool and separate spa. This was our favourite area.

Beautiful hotel very close to the city center, directly opposite the botanical garden. Very clean, quiet, and large rooms with comfortable beds. Friendly staff and a clean pool with a view of the surrounding high-rise buildings. The breakfast could be a little more extensive and offer more options for vegetarians. And it would be nice if food was replenished more often, because a lot of it was already empty by 9 a.m. and was not refilled. But all in all, we had a very nice stay, which is why I can highly recommend the hotel.

We stay at this iconic hotel 3 or 4 times a year to visit Brisbane and wander around the city. It was built in 1965 and so the rooms are large and quiet overlooking the botanic garden and by the river. It is right by the CBD and close to everything. It has a pool, lounge bar, restaurant and very good service. We love being able to exit the lobby straight into the botanic garden. It's old fashioned but charming and in a great location. Very comfortable king beds.

Staying at Royal on the Park is honestly like stepping into a little slice of England right in the heart of Brisbane. The place has this classic British charm and old-world character that makes it feel warm, refined, and full of charisma the moment you walk in. The staff are incredibly polite—genuinely welcoming, attentive, and always ready to help without ever feeling over the top. It’s rare these days to find service that feels this personal and respectful. The food is another standout. Everything is high-quality, beautifully prepared, and full of flavour. Whether it’s breakfast, room service, or something from the restaurant, it’s consistently excellent. The environment overall is extremely pleasant—quiet, classy, and comfortable. It’s right in the middle of the city, yet it feels peaceful. Plus, you’re literally across the road from the Botanic Gardens, so you can wander over for a walk anytime. It’s also within easy reach of the river, shops, cafes, and all the CBD has to offer. I’d definitely recommend staying here. If you want a hotel with charm, comfort, great food, and outstanding service, Royal on the Park is absolutely worth it.

Thoroughly enjoy staying at Royal on the Park. The Xmas decor added to the old world charm of the establishment and the staff are calm and quietly efficient and very hospitable. Ordering a taxi at Xmas was quick thanks to the front desk team. Room service and dining were lovely. The bathroom was well presented. We enjoyed a walk in the botanical gardens and the view from our room took advantage of the garden and the river.

Great location. Close to buses and town center. Opposite the botanical gardens. Bathroom very small. ||Very noisy around pool area as new building going up right next door. So not relaxing or peaceful. Which is ashame. Staff very friendly and professional. Lovely hotel.

As part of a roadtrip hitting Gold Coast, Brizzie and Coffs Harbour on the way back, we thought that just 3 nights (practically 1,5 days only) would be enough... WRONG! What a fabulous city and the location of the hotel makes it just soooo conveniant to discover a vast part of the city by foot (to the central shopping district, The Star walkway in the sky, the southbank, the boardwalk towards the 'mini brooklyn bridge', etc) The lobby is pretty interesting, vintage style, I wouldn't really know how to describe it other than Bourgondic, whatever that really means lol. Last attempt: it's like entering a meir's office (not that I've been in one...) The rooms are ok, not too fancy, but it does the job. I was just really annoyed with the fact that they don't use fitted sheets. Actually, I 'had to' request the room to be arranged, whereas normally I wouldn't do that at all, maybe just do a towel swap. Also, I don't understand why money is being saved on a microwave. The 'coffee pod cafeine juice maker' was suprisingly nice! And, the coffee in the bar in the lobby too and very well priced. Staff is generally nice! Our kids started to watch the kids channel and altough it's their fault that they ignored the 'this is a paid channel' warnings, we ended up paying 25 bucks (I wonder is the simpsons predicted this explosive inflation)... I think that it is not fair, the parents should approve this, they didn't let us get away with the charge. So, the kids didn't get away with it lol. The pool desperately needs cleaning. As you can see on the photoshopped pictures, you're supposed to be able to, at least, see the bottom of the pool. The deck needs a paint job too. The jaccuzzi is a real plus. So, the hotel itself scores 3 stars, as it serves well, and I'm tempted to give another 2 stars for the location. However, the missing fitted sheet take one away.

Excellent stay—very nice breakfast, a beautiful pool, and everything was very clean. The team was friendly, with special thanks to the housekeeping and reception staff as well. Thank you so much. It was a lovely part of our holiday.

Yelp
They are very accommodating and I enjoyed the friendly staff however, someone snuck into my room while I was sleeping and stole my wallet and Apple Watch. Luckily they had footage of the 2 preps and it could have much worse. I'm giving them 3 stars because although they were accommodating, they still tried to charge me for food and basic necessities. I understand that this is a business but since they do not have on-staff security to check the doors. Anyone from the street can come in the back entrance and act as a guest. My suggestion is to have a security guard on the ground floor, especially at the back entrance so this cannot ever happen again.

Yelp
The hotel is not new, in fact it can be a little dated in the rooms. It was clean and conveniently located by the botanical garden in Brisbane. We stayed here and I was able to walk all of Brisbane without getting lost or tired. They had laundry facilities which was convenient as my husband was in Australia for 2 weeks. The breakfast was really good. It had continental, English and American breakfast options. The service was friendly and you can get in and out without much hassle. We came back her to stay when our flight was delayed and had a wonderful dinner. I had the rump roast and my partner had a lovely pasta dish that was full of flavor and filling. It wasn't the nicest hotel in Brisbane, but it was the most convenient.

Yelp
Stayed here for a visit to QUT which is close by. The room are good sized and the bed was queen sized. The room has a good amount of light. A decent fridge with soft drinks .,. The bathroom is small and the buttons to operate the toilet is placed on the wall. The internet is slow and it took two visits to the front desk to make it work. The staff is friendly and the noise level is low.

Yelp
Let me just say, having never been inside Royal On The Park before a few weekends ago, I had pretty high expectations. Its exterior and towering façade leave quite an impression. Royal On The Park served as hotel and reception venue for a wedding I attended and it was amazing. The lobby is resplendent in red and I felt enveloped in its charming setup the minute I breezed through its doors. I was impressed from the outset, but it also didn't hurt that we got one of the best suites covering two rooms. Oh, and did I mention we had a butler? His name was Adam and he was marvellous. Be sure to give him a shout if you go there. Not only did he pander to our every request (we girls didn't request much mind, we're not used to being waited on), he also managed to help fix an untimely flower arrangement mix-up in time for the reception. Amazing. I stayed in two types of rooms over a weekend and they were both comfortable with spectacular views of Brisbane city and the Botanical Gardens. The reception hall was excellent for the post-ceremony antics the food was excellent. Plus the waiters were always topping up my champagne glass, so they get a rave review from me. Reception staff are helpful and extremely smartly dressed. It proved to be an ideal setting for a wedding reception and seems like it would be perfect for tourists, given its central location. Easy access and a lovely set up. Royal on the Park has function rooms that can be hired out and their Walnut restaurant, which serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner seven days a week.

Yelp
Royal on the park has been a venue I have been to on numerous work meetings. We normally meet quite early and the staff were always more than happy to go out of their way to accommodate us. We even had one of the managers do his best to make us all a coffee before they had completely opened for breakfast. It was quite good coffee as well. I can't comment on the accommodation as I have only been for breakfast meetings, but can say that the breakfast was superb. Everything was cooked quite well and it was a very comfortable place to go.

Yelp
Hotel Service is average, for the price you pay for an overnight stay and even for daily car parking you would expect better service. Rooms are outdated, but do provide good views of Brisbane. Two red teddy bears on the bed are a little bit of a suspect touch. The Wallnut buffet breakfast is expansive with some great options but making a coffee or toasting some bread is hard to do without explanation or assistance. In regards to events, Royal on the Park really steps up to the plate. Wait staff are friendly and very attentive, the beverage manager is happy to show you through and see through any concerns. Food comes from a variety of different cultures and does not fail to impress. A big plus - the Morrisey Designer Toiletries!

Yelp
We rented a suite here for wedding preparations and our first night as a couple. It exceeded all expectations. The price for the suite is what originally got our attention, much better value than other city suites, it was also very large. (Sadly about as large as our apartment!) The service was great, prompt and friendly. I also loved the decor, bit of a vintage twist on a contemporary suite. The bed was super comfy and the bathroom amenities were of high quality. The only downside was the parking. It was expensive and annoying when we were lugging items between the car and room as it was not super close to the hotel with no direct elevator. Also the front desk lady tried to charge us two nights parking even though we had our car moved after one night. We argued this point for some time before she agreed we shouldn't be charged the second day - $28/day. Overall a lovely hotel. I would recommend the suite to others who need a bit of a roomier room.

Yelp
Perfect location! Rooms were okay. We stayed in a 2-queen bed. Had a frigde and minibar, but no microwave. Bathroom was very strange. The handle to flush the toilet was on a wall so after using the toilet, you would have to get up and flush. It's also not a handle, but more like a button. The shower/tub was not my favorite....most dislike thing of the hotel. There were not curtains or sliding door except of a glass door that covered half the tub so water splashed outside the tub while you were showering. Lots of water got on the floor too. Gym was on top floor but you have to take the stairs to the gym after taking the elevator to the top floor. It was a little small but decent. Pool was outdoor and the water WAS NOT HEATED. We came with our 4 year old son and he wasn't able to go swimming at all because the weather was a bit windy. It's not much for a family hotel but great location. Staffs were great...greeted us everyday. Did not try the hotel food. Beds were super comfy. Overall, great location. If you're looking for a great hotel with great location, this is it. Decor was nice too. I recommend it but I wouldn't come back.

Yelp
I love coming to the Royal On The Park. i have been here a few times to attend wedding receptions and can I just say all were spectacular and compliments to the staff to helped make the brides and grooms day even better. Prior to entering the reception hall, all enjoyed champagne and canapés in a room, then later moved to the reception. Similar to most functions, food was served to the guests at alternate drops and drinks were flowing everywhere. The waiters were quick on their feet to bring the drinks and top up any empty glass they see. They're efficient little workers. At each reception I remember each having their own unique style, however, all had in common a seemingly effortless and organised event. Every one is happy and most importantly I remember the newly married couples being extremely happy with the outcome!

Yelp
I attended a 2 day conference here in September and was very impressed. The facilities were good, the staff were helpful and attentive. Rooms were well appointed. Being opposite the botanical gdns was also nice. Overall a very enjoyable experience.
