Royal Ours Blanc (Alpe-d'Huez, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes) Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"Cutting a striking silhouette against the natural backdrop of Alpe-d’Huez, a high-altitude resort in the French Alps, is Royal Ours Blanc Hôtel & Spa. Take a closer look and you’ll notice the geometric cedar facade is modeled after a honeycomb. The polar bear theme continues inside: beehive-inspired rooms have gold and honey-yellow color palettes and hexagonal wall panels, and the indoor pool, gorgeously illuminated and framed by rock installations, resembles a luminous cave. Rooms and suites feature circular windows or private balconies with nature views, and some have duplex layouts with separate living areas. The fireplace bar, with its wood paneling and whimsical wildlife portraits, is a cozy spot for afternoon tea or après-ski cocktails after a day out in the mountains." - Tablet Hotels

We enjoyed a week at the hotel on HB basis. Rooms were spacious with a fantastic Mountain View from the balcony. The bath was large and we never had any issues with hot water. |Breakfast was plentiful with hot buffet or continental with delicious fresh bread and croissants. The walk to the nearest runs was about 10 minutes and not a problem for us (we are boarders). We ate at 7.30pm every night (you need to book your table) and there was a good choice of 3 course meals every day. The food was tasty and hot and we didn’t have any issues with anything running out. The staff were super friendly throughout. We didn’t use the pool or spa so can’t comment on that. The only improvement would be for the rooms to be ready for arrival. We got there at 12 and rooms weren’t ready until 4 which was a little disappointing as the previous guests would have left at 6am that morning. Other than that we had a very enjoyable stay.

We stayed here via Crystal Ski and it was fab. Food is really good for both breakfast and evening meal. Rooms comfortable, with good beds, nice treats on arrival of chocolates. Robes and slippers provided. 10 min walk from the boot room to a short run to the Alpe Express

Hotel rooms are great. Plenty of space and light and bathrooms good too. Majority of staff are excellent. Location is ok. Bit of a walk to slopes in the morning and more of a walk getting back. Breakfast is good. What let the hotel down was the grumpy front of house lady at evening meals and the lack of food choice and food. If you don’t make the first sitting at 7pm they have always run out of the decent dishes and there were only a couple. Quality of food on first 2 nights was good. Then went downhill. Boot room is cramped and boot warmers never worked even though someone was supposed to be coming to fix them

I felt compelled to leave a review for this hotel, for the restaurant and Reception staff, and the food. We came here as part of a Crystal ski holiday and found that the service was absolutely fantastic here. Warm, courteous, professional, accomodating. Felt like they couldn't do enough for you. Thank you so much to all the staff here (all French). I hope you get paid well! 😄 The food in the restaurant was also excellent - really exceeded our expectations. We had a family room for 4 which was pretty tiny but we didn't mind for a week because the above really made up for it.

We paid 50euros (2people) to use the hotel spa for one hour as an outside guest. The website made it look great and included lots of photos of the pool. But no, you don’t get use of the pool. You get to use a very small jacuzzi in a bland small room, the jacuzzi jets are lacking power. You might as well sit in a warm bath in your room, it’s probably more inviting. In fact it’s a squeeze to fit more than two people so if it’s busy forget it, you won’t get in! The other facilities are a sauna and steam room. There’s no decent changing room, we had to get ready in a smelly toilet behind reception. There’s no lockers to store your valuables! Then to top it all off there’s no hairdryers which was very disappointing as we were going straight out to dinner! It’s possibly the worst spa I’ve ever been to so don’t be fooled by the website!

Recently back from a really lovely stay at the Royal Ours. The staff were all very friendly and helpful, professional at all times. We travelled with family and we requested rooms together, which was very kindly honoured. The rooms were perfect for our needs, we were delighted! We had modern rooms which were both clean and comfortable with beautiful views of the slopes. The rooms were serviced everyday which were not expecting, but again very pleasantly surprised after reading some reviews. |The breakfast in the morning exceeded all expectations and we have stayed in many hotels over the years in France! There was fresh fruit, lovely yoghurts, meats, fresh bread, hot cooked breakfast options including fried or scrambled eggs, fresh omelettes, lovely freshly made crepes, pastries, coffee machine with a large selection of different coffees, pretty much everything you could possibly need for a busy day skiing! |The bar was lovely and we enjoyed the afternoon cakes after a busy day. |The hotel location is great so close to town and all the amenities and not too far to walk to the baskets in the morning or a quick walk down to a little slope to the Alpette Express which takes you to the Bergers area. |We had fantastic weather, great skiing and this lovely hotel overall a perfect ski holiday! Keep up the good work and the fabulous value for money and you will have many repeat visitors, I know we certainly will thank you.

Nice hotel for a week of skiing. Modern and clean style. Bar area has a nice warm and cosy vibe with a pool table and open fire. ||We stayed bed and breakfast and thought the breakfasts were great. Plenty to choose from including freshly made crepes and omelettes and the views from the restaurant were stunning.||Spa is small but nice. We had an hour in the jacuzzi sauna and steam room and then a great massage one day after skiing. ||It’s not ski in ski out (it wasn’t advertised as such). In the mornings we walked 100m down the hill to ski down to the gondola. In the afternoons we got the free shuttle bus back to the door. We didn’t ever wait more than 10 mins for the bus.||Room was a decent size and cleaned daily. Would stay again.
