Positive Side:
Royal Palace Park is truly a tranquil oasis in the heart of Kandy. Nestled on a hilltop, it offers some of the most beautiful elevated views of the city and Kandy Lake. The park is incredibly well-maintained, featuring lush gardens, vibrant tropical flowers, and shaded pathways that make it the perfect spot for a relaxing stroll or a quiet escape from the city’s hustle. If you are looking for a place to sit, breathe, and enjoy nature, the scenery here is unmatched.
Negative Side:
Unfortunately, the peaceful atmosphere was completely ruined at the very beginning of the visit. The cashier at the entrance was dismissive and noticeably rude when I asked a simple question about the entry fees. This attitude continued with the security guard, who was unnecessarily aggressive and lacked basic hospitality. Instead of feeling welcomed into a historical landmark, I felt like a nuisance.
While the park’s beauty and its historical significance to the Kandyan monarchy are undeniable, the management desperately needs to train its staff in customer service. It’s a shame to have such a world-class location let down by such unprofessional behavior.
