Royal Panerai Hotel

Great location away from the noisy areas and not too far from the main gate of the old town. There is a nightly food market about a 10 mins walk. Room is huge, good mini fridge and a very wide and comfortable bed. The bathroom Is also quite large. Unfortunately, the hotel is getting a bit dated and there are holes and patches everywhere. It definitely needs a facelift.Staff are young and helpful at checkin. They became disinterested after that and don't want to deal with any question I had.Only recommended if there is a significant discount.

This is a budget hotel, but rooms are surprisingly large, with a quite large bed. Location is just outside the NE corner of the old town (Sripoom bastion); and a 15 minutes walk to Thapae square. One has to cross the busy ring road, fortunately there is a traffic signal. |The Panerai hotel has been renovated for several years; it looks like a very gradual process. There are now digital TVs in all rooms. Some more renovation is needed, but for the price it is really a very nice hotel.|PRO:|Thin walls as is common, but noise from neighbors is not too bad.|WiFi is good, though one has to log in a few times per day.|digital TV with 4 English channels.|The AC works good, but is a bit noisy. |CON: |Location is not ideal, one needs to walk to the old town.|Some more renovation is called for, as the bathroom and room are dated.|Sometime they accommodate large tour groups of 50 to 100 people, these can be noisy.

Do NOT Stay Here I seriously regret booking this hotel. Despite its oddly high rating on Agoda, the actual condition of the rooms is awful. Our first room had cigarettes in the sink, ants, moths, and cobwebs along the walls. When I checked the pillow, the pillowcase had dark spots and the pillow underneath was covered in yellow stains. And the bed was even filthier. The fridge was also unable to close because it was full of ice at the minifreezer inside, so there was water everywhere around the fridge. We asked for a different room, but the second one was in the same condition. The receptionist simply handed us a new key without a word, which didn’t inspire much confidence. Overall, this place is unclean, poorly maintained, and not worth supporting. And of course they have no refunds aswell, because they probably are aware.

Who needs tedious, polite conversation when you can be treated to the raw, unfiltered spectacle of being told to "get out"? It was a truly liberating performance, a piece of theatrical genius that instantly absolved me of any check-in formalities. The hotel itself is a sanctuary of profound philosophical lessons. It teaches you the invaluable skill of managing expectations early on—why waste your holiday exploring Chiang Mai when you can have your spirit so thoroughly crushed at the very start? So, if you're a discerning traveler seeking to have your trip catastrophically derailed before it even begins, look no further. Jame is not just a name; it's a promise. A promise of an unforgettable descent into hospitality hell. Thank you for the memories, Jame. You are, without a doubt, the crown jewel of my Thai travel experiences.

Con: Outdated facilities - mattress can feel the springs, instant water heat in the shower with loose control knob and as such can't adjust the required temperature etc.Cleanliness - spider web on ceiling and wall.Pro: 1 km from the Pha Tae Gate. 7-Eleven is just at the corner at the entrance to the hotel. Self-service doby, a Japanese restaurant and a café with delicious pastries are about 50m away.Conclusion: There are other better hotels around.

You get what you pay for. I read the reviews and prepared for a below-average stay, but it was a good price for the location. The hotel and rooms look more tired than the photo advert images, but the bed was comfortable.

I wouldnt wanna stay here even if i was homeless and it was free. The place is incredible filthy and disgusting. Fridge doesnt close so it was full of water, leftover cigarette buds from previous guests was in the sink, wallpaper torn up, dead roaches on the ledges on the balcony, the drinking glasses were filthy, stains on the bed, and pillow, floor was dusty and dirty and very clearly not vacuumed for a long time, cobwebs in corners, the AC was full of dust and dirt; which i Imagine is not healthy to live in. All furniture was extremely old. Pictures online do not match the hotels current state. We thought we were unlucky and went to ask for a new room, they proceeded to hand us a new key to a new room without speaking a single word or looking at us, so i Imagine they are used to it. The second room was equally bad, expect for the fact that the fridge actually closed. Nonetheless the second room was equally disgusting. We left quickly and found a new hotel. Unfortunately no refunds, so if you still decide to book after this review, good luck to you!

I stayed at the Royal Panerai Hotel for a couple of weeks and it worked really well for me. The location was great, just outside the Old Town, so I could walk or grab a quick ride to most places. The room was spacious, the air con kept things comfortable, and the WiFi was reliable for my early morning work hours. The staff were kind and easy to deal with, always polite and ready to help when I needed something. It felt like a good balance between convenience and comfort. Overall, it’s a solid spot if you’re looking for somewhere practical and good value in Chiang Mai. I’d happily stay again.
