We're 82-year-old Best Friends Who Traveled Around the World in 80 Days — Here's What It Was Like

"A budget-friendly Cairo guesthouse notable for its rooftop view of the pyramids and an exceptionally low nightly rate (the interviewees reported paying about $13.50). It sits behind an unassuming alley entrance but rewards visitors with direct pyramid sightlines and proximity to the evening light show, making it a memorable bargain for travelers seeking a dramatic skyline without a high price." - Sandy Hazelip, Ellie Hamby, and Rachel Chang

Good place to stay than overpriced hotels in giza. Breakfast was nice. Staff is good. Just a walking distance from Ticket office and pyramid entry via sphinx gate. Owner is very friendly, due to eid road was closed but he took us to the main road for the taxi and also carry our bags. Help us in all possible ways. View is also nice. Budget friendly hotel.

Very good service. All the staff was so kind.|The cuisine was value for money but they get better.|Spending our night in the rood, which had a stunning, magical view of pyramids and Grand Egyptian Museum. |It was the best hotel spot of the city. I fully recommended.

We booked the double or twin room with Pyramids view for one night during Ramadan. The view from the 4th floor bedroom's balcony is amazing and also from the 5th floor restaurant. You can watch and hear most of the Pyramids Light and Sound show in the evening - the restaurant gets busy for this. The room was clean and suitably equipped with kettle and television (some English speaking channels) The shower in the ensuite was very good. Shampoo & shower soap provided. Upon arrival our suitcases were brought up the stairs to the 4th floor reception. We had welcome drinks and the staff asked us which excursions we would like to take. A taxi was organised for a return trip to the Grand Egyptian Museum. Also the following morning a horse and cart ride with a guide around the Pyramids. The breakfast includes cold meats, egg and the freshly cooked falafel was lovely. Also Juice and coffee There is a notable Police presence in the local area and we were told this is to help keep tourists safe. The area is quite noisy and music is played late into the evening. After the Pyramid Sound and Light Show there was a late night music event past Midnight. The balcony doors and windows do not reduce the noise very much. The area is quiet in the early morning before Pyramids open. The streets around the area are quite littered although this can be typical of other places we have visited in Egypt. Also as typical with tourist areas in Egypt, there are lots of people trying to sell you tours (inc. camel rides or horse carts), taxi rides or souvenirs. We tried to minimise our exposure to this by arranging transport through the hotel Remember the price on everything in Egypt is negotiated so agree a price you feel is fair.

The room is nice the staff Mariam and Sayed at the front desk are so helpful. The room was nice and the view from the room was stunning. Thank you. I stayed in room 305, the view from the room was so beautul face directly to the Pyramid of Giza. You may see the sunrise and also sunset from the restaurant of this hotel in the rooftop called Akemi restaurant. The breakfast also good Worth of Money and nice🙏

This is a great place at a good price. The people at the hotel were extremely friendly and helpful. The hotel access is within a relatively narrow street and can be difficult for some taxis to find. The hotel provides in room coffee and tea with kettle and hair dryers for the ladies.

I have been stay here for 3 nights, all the staffs were so nice and friendly, this place was more than a hotel, felt like a family, all the staffs always smiling when they met us. The rooftop was awesome, best experience for the Giza Pyramids, every morning and every evening we always stay there for watching pyramids, very unique experience.

The highlights of this place are the location and the very helpful owner, he arranged additional services (trips etc) and gave good advice to ensure we weren't paying too much. It's a very reasonable price with an amazing view but the rooms are very basic and the breakfast was the same every day. A choice of things to order at breakfast would have been good.

Fantastic value. Pretty basic but clean and comfortable. The big plus here is the team running it. It’s a family and absolutely nothing is too much trouble. ||||Food and beer if you wish is brought in except breakfast which is done in house and is delicious but simple. ||||The views are amazing, you’re yards from the pyramids gate, but some local construction has intruded just a bit. ||||A previous review mentioned the state of the lane accessing the hotel. This has now been sorted and it’s now paved (the owners of a few local properties clubbed together to get it done) and very clean. ||||I’d strongly recommend you book all your trips through the owner Mohammed. OK, you’ll probably pay a bit more but the guys he uses as guides and drivers are trusted friends or family and it’s in his interest to not organise a bad day out. Rambo in particular was great. Corruption and hassling tourists is big ticket stuff here, using trusted guys will ensure you don’t get ripped off when out and about. You’ll save money and grief in the long run!||||Overall, great value, lovely people, basic but safe, clean and I’d be back in a heartbeat. ||||Thanks to all the team there for a wonderful experience.
