Excellent Value and Comfort in a Prime Location We made an opportunistic overnight stop in Newcastle and were pleasantly surprised by this hotel. Located right next to the rail station, it offered exceptional value at just £80. The interior decor was stylish and gave a five-star impression. Check-in was smooth, and the customer service was outstanding. Complimentary water and fresh fruit at reception were thoughtful touches. Our room was clean, comfortable, and well-equipped with tea, coffee, biscuits, a bath, and a shower—everything met a high standard. We dined at the on-site restaurant, and the food exceeded expectations. Both the fish & chips and beef burger were perfectly cooked. Overall, a fantastic stay at a very reasonable price. Would definitely return.

What a fab little gem, conveniently located close to the train station. Room was more than adequate for what I needed. Shout out to Michael, Lorraine & Mandy who are so friendly and helpful. I had breakfast and dinner at the hotel and the food was great, very tasty and piping hot. The leisure club is a winner, the steam room, pool and sauna make for a very relaxing stay. Would really recommend!

Just popped in on the passing while in Newcastle for few days to see the splendour of this Iconic Victorian Hotel. What a beautiful entrance lobby with lovely sparkling chandeliers. Ended up staying for a cuppa after a chat with the helpful and informative Michael & Mandy in the Empire Lounge / Bar area. Nice and relaxed atmosphere with stylish boothed seating area. The adjoining Ticket Bar is more modern with an Art Deco feel. Lovely dark tiles and decor in the bathrooms. Maybe on our next visit to Newcastle we will be lucky enough to stay at this age old graceful hotel. Thanks Michael & Mandy

Traditional grand station hotel next to the railway in the centre of Newcastle. Limited parking, but great if you're arriving by train. Superior rooms were good, although we had one where the windows wouldn't open on the first night. Amber dealt with it really well, finding us a different room for the rest of our stay and gave us vouchers to compensate. In fact, most of the staff we met were very friendly and good at their jobs - a special shout out to those on restaurant duty Tuesday 22nd July and the girl at breakfast early that week who arranged my allergen free breakfast. Sorry I've forgotten their names. Nice spa for which you pay an additional £5 fee. Loved the grand staircase and chandeliers. Great value, but we found it hot in July. If it had air-conditioning, it would be perfect!

I cannot fault this hotel- we had such a memorable and exciting stay here- I definitely recommend it for anyone staying in Newcastle. Above all, the hotel has the friendliest of staff members- everyone we met was extremely kind and eager to help us with anything we needed, from extra towels and extra tea/coffee for our room, to answering all our questions! It’s a beautiful hotel with lovely views of the city and a grand staircase- perfect for photos! The rooms were fantastic with a fridge, perfect for storing picnics for our days out and the rooms also were stocked with coffee, tea, sugar, biscuits etc. and a kettle! The spa was a highlight of our trip- it was lovely to relax there in the evenings. It has a steam room, sauna, plunge pool, jacuzzi and swimming pool with floats and toys. Moreover, the staff there were always kind and welcoming too, providing us with fresh towels and shower gel/body lotion before each swim! We had breakfast everyday at the restaurant, and the buffet was delicious and the staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating! The location is central, next to the train station, so it was perfect for us as everything was in walking distance. Thank you so much and I can’t wait to return!

Chose this hotel over our usual Premier Inn. This is a period property. Do not expect highly polished. Do expect stylish as per the buildings vintage. The rooms are serviced and while mostly clean, fairly well used. Front desk staff in our limited exchanges need to be a little bit more happy to be at work. We did ask a specific question that someone who lives in Newcastle could probably answer. We felt dismissed and as if we were intruding. We didn’t have to pay for the health spa as our visit was just before they started a £5 per day charge. I wouldn’t pay £5 for the spa facility as on entering, the floors were all dirty and the changing rooms were awful. Lockers falling apart. Dirty towels laying discarded. Toilets containing unflushed human waste. Showers that had more water flowing from the spring loaded tap than the shower head. It’s fairly run down. We didn’t use it again. The restaurant and bar staff were the best of the bunch. Very engaging. Very helpful. Location? It doesn’t get better than that to be honest. Off the train and into the hotel then out to the entertainment areas so a massive 5 star plus on that. On balance, would we return? Yes I think we would.

Slap bang in the middle of Newcastle, perfect for getting everywhere in the city centre. Rooms were comfy and the bar was good. My mates had a roast dinner which they really enjoyed. My mates said it was a little noisy at night, but o took earplugs so no bother for me. The building is gorgeous, really old and I wondered how many stories that place could tell of bricks could speak.

Royal Station Hotel - Part of the Cairn Collection (Newcastle) We had a great stay. The hotel location was perfect with easy access to the main sights, eateries, indoor market and the city based shopping malls that were all within reasonable walking distance. The hotel dates to circa 1850 and had a feel of times past and I really enjoyed the ambiance it created. The Royal Station Hotel, steeped in historic charm, captivates many travelers with its grandeur - our first impression was the staircase reminded us of the staircase from Titanic…and has that wow feel! The team at the hotel were all friendly and accommodating. I’d like to give particular thanks for the diligent service to the following team members: Amber, Jess, Anna, Liz, Michael Scatchard, Steve Frizzel, Liam and Jonathan. Thank you all for a fab family city break to Newcastle.

Yelp
This hotel is really good, especially considering the price!! - It is sooo easy to find. Come out of the station, turn right and you'll see it. - The rooms were really big, with decent sized bathrooms - The breakfast was included in the room rate and wasn't bad (the croissant wasn't fresh but at least they provided lots of fruit, and lots of tea!!) - They do nice things like leave you complimentary water, juice and a kitkat - The staff were really friendly and helpful I heard a few people mention that their room were noisy when trains arrived/departed, but my room was fine... If I need to stay in Newcastle again I'll definitely come back here.

Yelp
My reasons for being in Newcastle were not that of glamorous business travel, however, I found myself in need of somewhere central to stay for the night. Within a few minutes of the train station is the Royal Station Hotel. The hotel is quite large - and typical of the traditional hotels you'd expect next to Victorian railway stations. Inside, there's a large foyer, with corridors leading to the reception, function suites, a restaurant, a bar, a gym and a pool. For a 3 star hotel, it's very well appointed. I didn't try out any food, the gym or the bar, but the room itself was more than adequate. I stayed in a small double, which has all the usual features you'd expect, including free wifi - and an extremely comfy bed. A nice touch was the mini-fridge with complimentary mineral water, fruit juice and chocolate biscuits. At £55 for the night, it did represent excellent value. If I was in Newcastle city centre again and needed somewhere to stay, I'd be quite likely to go back here.

Yelp
*Location/Getting there This hotel is located right next to the train station -how great is that?nothing worse than a long journey followed by having to find a hotel. There is loads of places to eat nearby, plenty to see and do.The bus station is also quite nearby and would take about 10 minutes to walk too. Reception/staff The hotel looks really nice from the outside-a grand looking building.Reception looks really nice with big chandlers hanging from the ceiling and there are two lifts.Staff were nice and i had the option of paying straight away or when i checked out. Hotel/Room The room i stayed in was a twin room and it had a complimentary mini-bar.Room had an en suite with a great shower and a phillips flat screen tv Other Room service was good .There was a wide selection of food available with healthy eating options. Price* This costs £60 for a night and doesn't include breakfast. This is an average price for a 3 star hotel. The only bad thing about this hotel was that it got noisy outside very early in the morning,so you might not like it if you are a light sleeper.

Yelp
Not many car parking spaces. We were lucky and just managed to get one. Don't know what we would have done if we hadn't been able to get one. There was plenty of noise duruing the night from what sounded like stag / hen / birthday partys etc, which is to be expected in Newcastle. However we should have phoned reception to complain and maybe someone would have come and said something, but you never know how long the shouting and banging doors its is going to last. Apart from other people making all the noise and keeping us awake there wasn't any other noise from traffic or trains. We were given a wifi code but only a few MB on data so that quickly ran out :(

Yelp
Wow, my sister just visited and we stayed together in this place. We had wanted to go to the Thistle but it wasn't available so this was second choice but I'm so glad it was! Although it doesn't look like much from the outside - the interior of this old hotel is absolutely stunning. It has echoey marble type floors and crystal chandeliers hanging up! The decor is very old fashioned and it all reminded me of that creepy movie starring John Cusack, 1408! It is so atmospheric. The room we had was lovely. It was very clean, reasonably sized with a tv, drawers, dresser and mirror, mini-fridge with a welcome snack of a club biscuit and a just juice (like a kiddies packed lunch, admittedly but quite welcome all the same) tea and coffee making facilities, an en-suite bathroom and a window that overlooks the road outside of Central Station. The lady at reception was very helpful and was treating us as though we were first time visitors/tourists to the city, even though we are Geordies. There is a big table by the lifts full of helpful maps and leaflets full of things to do in the town and surrounding areas. Breakfast is served promptly in beautiful surroundings by hard-working staff. Very reasonable prices and a brilliant location for anybody coming to visit the city.

Yelp
Newcastle upon Tyne is one of my favourite places in the world. I've hung out with actors, been to the Theatre Royal more times than I can remember, messed about around the river Tyne and explored quite a few of the many bars and restaurants. When I booked tickets recently to see a play, I decided I'd do things properly and stay at The Royal Station Hotel. The Royal Station Hotel is exactly what you'd expect of a hotel in Newcastle. It's old, superb in appearance from the outside and all the rooms are clean and tidy. There are a couple of restaurants very close by. Checking in was pretty painless. The only drawback was that we'd arrived too early. The staff were happy to take our bags until the room were ready. They looked slightly young but pleasant. I'd come up by rail and found the hotel was only a matter of feet away from the Station. We returned later to the hotel and completed checked in. The room was lovely, with a huge double bed and chairs, TV and a mini bar. There was also a complimentary bowl of fresh fruit. Rate: 5/5

Yelp
this is situated near the central which is very convenient for going back to after a great night out.the prices are solid and the rooms are middle of the road but good enough to stay in for a night without any complaints.it's also easy to get around.
