I've lived in Memphis for 50 yrs and only discovered this unique recording studio a month ago. It's hidden in the oldest sections of downtown. Totally blown away reading about the history behind this studio . It's still family owned and they are so knowledgeable and informative regarding the famous artists that have come from all over the country to record. Definitely a MUST stop for all music lovers next time you're in Memphis.

I had the rare opportunity to tour this historic studio where recording artists still create records today. The artwork outside helps capture the historic recordings that happened inside its doors, while showcasing the creativity of those artists who shape different genres of music. If you get a chance to visit, I highly recommend visiting the Stax Museum of American Soul Music nearby.

I was invited to record on a friend's project; the skill level of the tech was fantastic. The shop itself carry the spirit of classic Memphis music making. It was a superb experience!

Royal Studios gives you chill bumps as soon as you walk through the door, but feels like home at the same damn time. Meeting and working with Boo is a huge honor and opportunity. I look forward to making timeless music with him and his sons. Hopefully sooner than later. Their equipment is great and some of it is original. That information alone is amazing. The track room is spread out well to give artists the chance to really shed their skin and dig deep, while maintaining that professionalism with a hard working production team sitting in one chair. Boo you told me you'll never be able to fill your father's or grand father's shoes. But you have. You just don't know it yet brother. Much love and respect from this side. Royal Studio has a wonderful history of recording Memphis artists, as well as nationally know talent. The Mitchell family are a group of talented, authentic, hard working people.

Stopped in here a couple of years back and got the whole tour from Mr. Mitchell himself. Truly a historic place. RIP Willie Mitchell.
